The outdoor recreation programs. We have programs ranging from pack rafting classes to ice climbing classes. We also have a rock climbing and ice climbing wall outside of our rec building.
UAF is a wonderful science school. Our biggest and best programs are engineering, particularly artic engineering. We also boast a great biology program. The artic environment creates unique study and research opportunities not found at any other school in America.
I would have to say that the University of Alaska Fairbanks is best known for it's classes in engineering and Geological studies.
Our Hockey team, Cold climate research, petroleum engineering, -40 F or lower temperatures, Arctic region supercomputing center.
It's amazing connection with the industry, especially in the Computer Animation/Game Art fields. Ringling has been named a top school for the CA/GAD field, as well as digital arts in general.

Our school is best known for it's hokey team and it's science center. We are the land, sea and space headquarters for most of the state.
Its best known for its high qualitiy or engineering and science degrees.
I would say UAF is best known for the coldness and the 40 below club. It's probably the best part of this University, it takes place when it's -40F and students get their picture taken in from of the big temperature sign with just a bathing suit on. UAF also has great intrmeral and awesome engineering programs.
We are probably best known for our engineering program (we rank pretty high in the nation) and the fact that we are pretty laid back and have a good accademic program.
