University of Arizona Top Questions

Describe the students at your school.

Lauren

There are quite a few students from Colorado, Chicago, Arizona, California, Texas...

Melissa

The student body is very diverse. I wish there was more support for philanthropies held on campus. Philanthropy is required for Greek life, but since there is little support from the rest of the campus, most of the events' participants are Greek too. If there were more integration of regular students in Greek events, I think people would change their perceptions of Greek life and not focus on negative stereotypes. There is a lot of good within the Greek system!

Jamie

Most students are from Arizona and California. You see some people from Kansas too. Students are politically active, many times throughout the year you can find booths on the mall trying to get people to support their causes. As far as what to wear to class you can wear what ever you want. On Halloween I once saw a guy dressed up like a caveman taking a test. It doesn't really matter.

Dana

There is such a diverse range of students here that it's great because you won't find only one type of person here. Everyone is different and yet we can all get along in one way or another, and our school spirit unites us.

Parker

The student body is very diverse and differernt in a good way. Every student comes from a different backround.

Austin

The student body is focused a lot on image. There are a lot of more affluent students than poor students here. A big cali influence that brings in a ton of bros.

Theodora

Coming to this school alone as an out of stater I feel that going through sorority membership recruitment is the best thing I could have done in order to feel included. A large majority of the student body can be described as from southern California and coming from well off families.

Andy

There are numerous clubs and organizations on campus that let students be who they want to be. Greek like offers much of the social experience, but there is plenty to do otherwise. Most students are from AZ but there are many from out of state that bring in a different culture.

Megan

I don't think that any student would feel out of place at the U of A. We have a very diverse student body. There are many different groups and clubs to get involved in that will make a student feel right at home.

Cass

I feel the Arizona campus is extremely diverse and there are numerous amounts of ethnicities, races, and religions on campus. Students should never feel out of place because there are so many different clubs and social activities for students of any kind to participate in. Most students that go to U of A are from Arizona or California.

Tate

I feel that the student body is a majority caucasion, there is not a lot of minorities.

Megan

I think there is a club for anyone here i am just not personally in one, unless you consider a sorority one.

Charlie

Like I previously stated, I believe that the University of Arizona has a lot of California kids and local Arizona kids.

Chris

Arizona has a very diverse student body. I think there are alot of different people here for many reason and from all over. As usual though, there is a higher population of white people as oppposed to minorities, but I think that the university does a good job of incorporating several ethnicities and people who think in different ways.

Chris

Most students look like they're from Orange County, California. Guys wear shorts, tshirts, and sandals to class while girls wear short skirts, low tops and sunglasses. They're are a lot of kids from California and Chicago,IL. Kids are obsessed with money.

Torry

Again, since it's such a large and diverse student body, no one can really feel out of place. Unless maybe you are very unattractive. Even handicapped people are well accommodated, almost every building has wheelchair access. Students generally dress very casually, often in Wildcats gear. Different types of students interact in their non-major classes but, since Greek life is big, there is a clique-ish mentality here. Most Arizona students are from Arizona and California, or NYC kids looking for better weather. I'd say middle/upper middle class is the standard here. Students are not that politically aware or active from what I've seen. I'd call the school very much in the center politically, since it's a Republican controlled environment in a Democratic city with kids from both backgrounds. I'd call it kind of purple.

Jessica

Most people at Arizona have a lot of money. Most people are not racist or religious. Most students dress up for class. All the boys will wear designer jeans, a typical California hat and California shades. Girls will dress in very little and will pile on the makeup. If you wear sweat pants or a t-shirt, you will stand out in a very bad way. Most people don't care about politics, but if they do, they are very liberal.

Evan

I don't appreciate when Mormon enthusiasts come up to me on campus and force their viewpoints. Religion is just the ancient past time and traditions of your particular family. We're all the same, we're all people. We just all have different traditions. Just like playing football on thanksgiving. But just let me be when I'm walking on campus, don't try and get me to change my values.

Ani

From my experience of walking through the mall and observing the different stands and events held there, I think the student body has given everyone of all races, religions, and other groups comfort.

Eli

the student body is so diverse, you have your bros, preps, jocks, nerds, japs, girly girls, pretty much anything. No more what group or religion you are, there is a place for you. As a Jew, I am very comfortable since Hillel is so involved on campus. When you meet someone, most likely they're from arizona, california, or chicago. I was suprised how many students from illinois are here. however, since this is the average student when I meet someone from ny its special because its so rare.
