University of Arizona Top Questions

It is very hard to think of a "worst thing" about the University of Arizona. The dorms are great, I love my classes, and I am having such a great first year here. I love being able to walk to my classes across our beautiful campus. And, I love all the Wildcat spirit here! If there was one "worst thing," I would love to divulge it; but, there isn't! I love my school.

The surrounding area

The worst thing would be the excessive fees for everything for example the honors college and the recreation center even when you do not use it.

8 am class

During the first semester of upper division classes, everyone is expected to go through multiple, time consuming group projects. Although these projects are extremely helpful to the learning process in the field of business, they have virtually no group meeting areas. Since their are no group meeting areas we have to sit in a crowded atrium or walk all the way across campus the Integrated Learning Center.

I would consider the worst thing about my university is the budget cuts. Since tuition went up prices around campus went up and the things theat were free before will eventually have prices such as the free services to help all the students out.

The class sizes seem to be getting bigger.

There isn't really thing that i don't like about this school. I am still getting used to the college life and there are so much things i want to learn and be involved with.

I honestly LOVE my school, but I hate gen eds in general! It feels like High School all over. Maybe more opportunities for commuting students.

Honestly, there is nothing that is terribly bad about our school. Although sometimes the weather is very, very hot, it doesn't take away too much from the atmosphere we get to live in. The campus is beautiful and we get to attend an amazing school. Since there has been an influx of students, some of the more popular freshman lecture classes have become increasingly bigger, but that is the worst thing I can think of.

The way they spend out tuition is probably the worst thing about the U of A because it's being raised only to be spent on trivial things instead of going more towards education.

I would say the worst thing about my school is that they are strapped for cash. The goverment or whatever bozo that funds them has cut back a little too much.

One thing I can say I did struggle with this year was the lack of registration assistance for the freshman class. I feel that this may not only happen at my school but others. I feel that the freshman class need a little bit of help trying to get on their feet walking faster towards success. I feel that by helping them more as they start this experience of college leads them to an even greater path for success.

The advising situation is fairly weak. I am a Physiology major with a Spanish minor and am also in the Honors College and it is frustrating when the advisors are clueless about the other areas of study. I understand it is a large campus but it is difficult enough to even see ONE of my advisors let alone all three when there are so many students trying to see that same person.

People who smoke and ruin the nice air on campus. A campus should be a wonderful and clean environment for education and learning, and cigarette smoke ruins the atmosphere drastically.

More than the school, is the actual west side of the United States. Its too hot during the summer. Thankfully the school provides transportation and also the facilities are at appropriate temperature, but its very hard to get through the day, you must have water. Another thing that can have improvement is the majors available. When I first started considfering schools I really wanted to study Criminology; not many schools had this, but everything else from the University of Aizona was very appealing, so I settle for Criminal Justice.

I believe the worst thing at the University of Arizona is that the amount of non- students and faculty people on campus is quit large. This is scary, eventhough our security is around for the most part. I believe that our CatCards should be used more often on campus.

There are a lot of students with school paid for by their parents and I sometimes feel segregated by the fact that I have to work full time.

The worst thing about my school is the amount of Greek Life. It is not a bad thing there is just a lot of it.

The presence of the fraternity and sorority system. They only comprise something like 3 percent of the enrolled student population but everything seems to revolve around them.They're seedy and destructive and mysogenistic.

Though I wanted a large school with a lot of spirit and diversity, other negative things come along with such an enormous student body. The counseling for classes is nearly nonexistant and the school feels more as though it is being run as a business rather than an educational setting which, though is true that it is a business, as a student you want to feel like you are actually important and that someone advising your future actually cares about what happens to you after college, or even that you are able to stay in college.

I dont think that there is anything bad about this school.

The worst thing about my school would be the lack of public parking or parking in general. You need to a permit to park almost anywhere near campus which can be a pain in the butt to get one and even find a spot in your permits area. While they do have parking garages, that doesnt make it any easier, considering they are always packed and you have to pay by every two hours to park there.

When alking from class to class try to take the coolest way there, you will bgin to sweat and it fells terrible. The heat is really devastating, welcome to Tucson,AZ.

The worst part of the University is the overall campus attitude that lacks academic focus and professionalism. There is not enough respect for the education or the integrity of getting an education.

The only thing I do not like about my college is that I have to drive on the high way in order for me to to go there. I do not like high ways for the fact that my friend just had an accident there and it scares me a lot now because I am just a new driver.

The heat during the months of the Fall Semester

due to my time spent at the university, i do not have very much detail to tell. however i do think the hardest part for me has been getting in contact with the right help, however once i found the right person all my questions were answered.

While the scenery here is beautiful, this school promises way more than it delivers. When you come to campus for orientation, the grass is green, the atmosphere is accepting, and the people are friendly. When you register and start classes, the classrooms are filled to capacity, the teachers are boring until you take upper division units and the only thing to do if you want a social life is join a fraternity or sorority. While the clubs can offer diversity, you have to actively pursue something or it is easy to wander through college aimlessly here.

I consider the large class sizes to be the worst thing at my school. In one class, there can be up to one thousand students! When it comes down to it, I and many other people I know, learn so many things at a faster and greater pace in a class size of about thirty. One professor to over one hundred students is a lot to deal with and not only for him or her, but the students too because there is a bigger chance of getting distracted or having trouble hearing.

Greek life is very common for lower classmen and for non-greek people it is kind of annoying.

Some teachers criticize students instead of actually teaching.

I would say that a negative aspect of this school is that there are many Fraternities and Sororities at the school and they are right on campus so you have awkward run ins on the weekends at times.

The business school required additional money. The class availability was sometimes challenging. There were times that I had to select classes that were my second or third choice.

The worst thing about my school is that there is a huge focus on Greek life. Joining a Sorority is extremely expensive and if my parents could have afforded it I would have joined. However, now that I am a Junior, I am glad that I did not join. I realize that I do not need to pay for my friends and social life. I don't want to generalize, but a lot of the students in Greek life are not the nicest people. In a way you are looked at differently if you are not in a house.

The waste of money. Continually tuition goes up, with the board of regents saying the extra revenue generated from a tuition hike goes to services for students. However, we seem to have pointless plazas and memorials constructed every year.

I don't like how our money is being distributed. For example, I recently found out that I'm going to be paying more tuition this year because the school board decided to build another recreation center and does not have enough funds to maintain it. I don't even use the Rec center, along with forty-some percent of the school. They could be using that money to make textbooks cheaper or open more classes so we have smaller classes.

The worst thing about my school is the price for books. I work at the UA Bookstore and students spend over $600 in one transaction for books it is ridiculous!

The worst thing about my school is that the books are so expensive. Also the professors create their own editions of the book which make it hard to sell back because not many people at other universities will buy it from you which means you can only sell it to other students or the bookstore but the bookstore gives you about 5-10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of what you originally paid for the book, you lots of money.

It may be intimidating at first, its very big and easy to get lost in your first days. Go to campus ahead of time to figure out where your classes will be.

The worst thing about my school is Tucson. The campus is wonderful, but as soon as you leave the campus you are in a pretty bad area of town. This makes it difficult when you are living in an apartment that is within walking distance - you are often afraid to walk or bike home alone.

I think the worst thing about my school is the Math department because they are so inconsistant. One section of the same math course can be great, while the one across the hall is terrible.

The Californian sorority girls who are just here for MRS degrees, whose parents are paying for them to be here. They wear little mini dresses. A study was done on the seats at the U of A. Tests showed that 99{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the seats had vaginal discharge on them. Gross.

The worst thing about my school is also one of the best things about my school: which is the size. The University of Arizona is a fairly large school with around 400,000 students attending. This makes it somewhat difficult to really get to know everyone because of the huge classes. This is also an advantage because you do get to meet many people and see many faces while on campus.

the only thingi dont like is no financial aid avalible for non-degree seeking undergraduate students.

Tuition and living expenses are the only thing I can think of that I don't like about this school. Both have been steadily increasing and will most likely continue to do so. Out-of-state tuition is getting even worse than In-state tuition and I am lucky enough to have lived here all my life. It is hard to pay so much for college, but being here everyday remindes me that it is worth it.

The worst part of the school would be the class sizes.

It's two hours away from home, and I can't get back to Phoenix as often as I would like.

The teachers seem to not care about there students. Example I had one professor email out the night before the final that due to suspected cheating there would be no calculators allowed on the test. I had been preparing for this final for weeks with a calculator handy and when I read that there were no calculators allowed my determination and mindset were totally gone.
