University of Arizona Top Questions

The University of Arizona is a great school to attend, but the only drawback is the campus is mainly a science based research campus. Students who should not attend this school are students who do not intend on majoring in a science based field. I am a Journalism major and sometimes feel pressured by advisors who emphasize studying a science related field in addition to my current major. Students are greatly encouraged to study majors in the field of science or related fields because of the financial stability, therefore other majors are assumed to not gain as much success financially.

I believe that any driven individual could attend the University of Arizona and be successful. A significant discriminator may be the size of the school, as the University of Arizona has about 40,000 students. A university of this size may be a considered a medium size university but it may cause some anxiety for anyone who tends to thrive in a smaller school environment. The size influences class size, student faculity ratio, campus size and the concentration of people you are familiar with. While a large student population is not bad thing some may benefit at a smaller school.

If you can't handle large class sizes or being swept up in a 40,000+ student campus, don't attend. Things are less individualized, but this also prevents gossip, unlike high school. Don't come if you hate the constant summer sun.

Someone who likes cold weather, a small campus feel or easy transportation around the city.

Someone very interested in an urban, downtown setting should not attend this school. People who like a good bar scene or good shopping should not attend this school. University of Arizona also does not have very good study abroad opportunities, so someone who does not have alot of money that wants to study abroad or travel should not attend this school.

Although you don't have to be Christian to attend this university, those who are Christian would enjoy going to this university more.

Someone who finds it very difficult to adjust to a big campus and large class sizes should probably reconsider. Although there are many smaller sized classes, some classes that are requirements for graduation tend to be quite large. It might also not be the best university for a student who is not very self-motivated. Although freshman do have a lot of support for smooth transitions and help learning about the resources UA offers, college in general is a place for self-motivation. Lastly, UA in many ways feels like its own city; can be bad for the easily homesick.

There is no person that should not attend this school. Everyone should want to attend this school because it is a place that will make you feel welcome and someone will always be willing to help you and be your friend. There are students from different parts of the world and many different majors that any student can find a place where they will feel welcome.

The kind of person who shouldn't attend the University of Arizona would be an introvert, or someone who does not interact well with others. Although I am driven in my academics, a large part of my experience here has been getting involved. Being a part of Zona Zoo, creating study groups, and working on campus have been some of the highlights of my college experience. Coming to the University forced me to break out of my shell, I love it here and feel that I made the perfect choice.

This campus is not well suited for inactive individuals. With a variety of activities and opportunities, both educational and social, it's important that prospective students looking into the University of Arizona take advantage of what is offered to ensure a successful experience.

If you are not serious about your education, then SLU is not the school for you. A person that is lazy, not a hardworker, or motivated should not attend this school.

I do not feel there is a person that should NOT attend The University of Arizona. The school is welcoming to all people of any race, ethnicity, gender, and those with disabilities. I suppose people that enjoy snow and do not like warmer weather should probably consider another place to go.

Someone who likes to keep to themselves and isn't very friendly. This school has a lot of spirit and everyone here is very friendly.

Students who should not attend this school are those who are close minded to other religions, races, cultures, and people with different personalities from their own; as well as those who are unwilling to work hard for their degrees and future careers.

Someone who should not attend this school is someone who can not manage their time academically and socially. There needs to be a balance, just like at any college.

Any student who is looking for a typical college experience should not attend the University of Arizona. If you find diversity offensive, on campus activites distracting rather than rewarding, and academic opprotunities to be tedious rather than challanging, then this school is not for you.

I would not recommend the University of Arizona for students looking for a small intimate campus. The classes her can be very large and students must make an effort to know the professors. It is very easy for students to become unnoticed in the larger classes. The professors are willing to help students that put in the effort but they will not help students that are allowing themselves to fail. It is a challenge for students from small town high schools to become immersed in the college culture at this university.

Driven, motivated, career-oriented, friendly

I would honestly have to answer that anyone should attend this school. There isn't one stereotypical type of "person," that would not fit in at this school in one niche or another. With a campus of more than 40,000 students there are opportunities everywhere for students to get involved and meet people who are just like them. Everyone should attend the University of Arizona because it is truly a home away from home.

A person that does not want to have success and one who is not proud of their school culutre and traditions.

The kind of person that shouldnt attend this school is an individual who is not willing to work hard for their academic futures. People insist on saying that The Univeristy of Arizona is a party school, but from my own experience a couple of people from my high school came here thinking that and did not succeed. Students who are not willing to step outside of their comfort zones and meet new people should not attend this school.

While I feel that everyone should strive to educate themselves, and also feel that all are entitled to a higher education, it is true that college is not for everyone. The University of Arizona provides tremendous opportunities to its students, and certainly delivers an enviable education. But I truly believe that in these trying financial times, those who are not serious about their studies and run the risk of taking these opportunities for granted should not attend this school.

The kind of person the University of Arizona draws into it are hugely diverse. I have met all kinds of students from backgrounds in whole foods nutirtion, to aerospace sciences, to living the life of a sororoit queen, all of them seeming to be content with what the university has to offer. However, if you are the kind of student who must be self sufficient and pay your own way without so many loans, I would recommend students in their later years of college education to attend, once they have completed their lower level classes. That is where it counts.

Not really applicable, this school is so diverse in its goals and programs that many different types of people/students can flourish. I suppose if you do no like hot, dry weather with limited rain...don't come. Tucson has very limited downtown and surrounding activities. It is very much a college town, so if unless you love the arts, vintage shopping, sustainability or a more quiet atmosphere than most cities, I wouldn't reccommend it. Some of the students say Tucson is 'boring,' but UofA is a wonderful school.

Anyone who isn't willing to motivate themselves to learn is not likely to do well in their classes here.

Somebody who is interested in Arizona's weather, a student who likes a school with school spirit, somebone who enjoys diversity, somebody who likes focusing on their studies yet also have other things in mind such as clubs, sports, or jobs. A person who likes big libraries. Overall anybody is able to fit into this school. Me being a shy person to myself and interested in nature was managable to love this school. A friend who is into technolgy also loved it here and a friend who loves people loves it here.

A lazy person who does not try hard and push their guts into the game to win it! Its all or nothing here!

The University of Arizona should be attended by any person seeking a college education. The school is welcoming to all cultures of people and does not commit more service to any one classification of individual.

The University of Arizona is such a diverse college. There are a wide variety of majors and I feel as if this college has a lot to offer to any kind of person, but of course that is up to the individual. The University of Arizona does not have an emphasis on an particular subject area or major, in fact the U of A has been known for its advances in scientific research as well as dance. Also, the U of A is made up of a variety of cultures.

The University of Arizona is a school that welcomes all types of individuals. Now with that being said, those who attend college only to recieve social gain without any educational focus will soon drop out. This university works hard to provide students with both the social and educaitonal aspects that one should gain in college. However, if a student chooses not to show up to class or fails to complete the expected work, they will fail. Therefore, the University of Arizona is not a school that provides majors to those who do not fully deserve them.

Somebody who does not like school spirit or Division I sports should not attend this school. Personally, I think it is such a diverse school with so many opportunities for so many different people. U of A is a great choice for a variety of students.

People who lack a decent work ethic and organizational skills should not attend a University or any for that matter. It's not to say that Universities are exclusive, but it would be easier for those types of people to succeed at community colleges and then consider transferring to a university. Universities are not all fun and games it is sad when students flunk out because they couldn't keep up with their classes. Attending a university means that you have to be a dedicated student willing to put in enough hours of studying in order to suceed in life.

There is no one that should not attend this school, the only reason why someone would not want to be here is because of the heat.

I do not think that there are people that should not attend the Univeristy of Arizona because it is a very diverse school, and I believe that anyone can fit in. There are many different programs and clubs that would fit many personalities and interests.

The U of A is a wonderful campus, with students from all over the world. It is difficult for students who are not self-disciplined because of the size of the campus, distractions available, and most importantly, the size of the classes. Although I am new to the U of A, one of my daughters is a graduate. Her challenge was the difficulties I have outlined. Her first year and a half was extremely difficult. For students like her, I would recommend a community college or a small university for the first two years.

There isnt any kind of person that shouldnt attend this school. This school is open to all different types of people. I think anyone that would attend this college would like it a lot because there is something for everyone to do and get involved in. The school isnt made for just certain kinds of people its made for all sorts people.

The kind of person that wouldn't do well while going to the University of Arizona are students who are not motivated to do the required amount of work to progress their way along a preferred career path. The UofA is known for it's rigorous academic programs in science, engineering, medical studies, and architecture. Hard work is highly recommended for people to succeed, so those who are looking for an easy way to get a degree or lack the initiative, then the University of Arizona is not really a good place for them.

People who would like to attend a school with a sprawling campus should not attend the University of Arizona. Campus is relatively small in comparison to sister schools like ASU, yet the campus does not seem crowded with the amount of undergraduate students UA has.

A very conservative student should not attend this unversity. Whether religiously conservative or politcally, the environment of the university is one of liberalism and higher education and can be jarring for a conservative student. The university is very diverse and is accepting to pretty much all types of people however, and no student would feel threatened or unsafe.

Someone who tolerates or is themselves unmotivated, sluggish, uncreative, vulgur, depressing, cheats, lies, steals, or any combination of the above.

Any person that is unwilling to set aside their differences and enjoy the glory years of young adulthood should consider a different school. At the University of Arizona we are not a judgemental group of students, we work with whomever whenever. It is a social center and academic figurehead, for those who wish to stay shut in doors studying and using electronics should consider a different school. At U of A we get out and LIVE LIFE!!!!

I actually believe that the school is suitable for everyone, but I would believe that students who are going to waste their time should not attend this school. I have seen these students roam the campus, but have yet to see a single one attend a class. I believe that there are too many students that decide to attend colleges for the purpose of fraternities and sororities instead of pursuing a degree or career.

The type of person who should not attend this school is someone who believes that this school is all about partying. Yes, people go out on weekends but being hungover in class on Mondays is not a good way to get anywhere academically. Professors look for students who are ready for a challenge and are prepared for class everyday.

Someone who doesn't like the heat, during the summers the temp can reach well over 100. Someone shouldnt attend this school if they dont like walking because this school is located on a fairly large campus.

Anyone should attend the University of Arizona. It is an excellent school.

I would not consider the University of Arizona a very difficult institution, but I would not brush it off as easy either. The U of A will demand work and dedication from its students. I would not recommend the U of A for anyone that expects to fly by college without having to put in any effort. Also, I would not recommend the U of A to anyone that simply wishes to attend college for the education, as the U of A's social aspects are equally as impressive as the education.

An outgoing, extremely dedicated person who wishes to not only find an education, but to find friends, and get the experience that most high school kids dream of. A shy person is welcome at our school, but it is a very social, outgoing, and friendly environment.
