Why did you decide to go to this school?

Peter

After the first orientation and visit to UALR, I fell in love with the campus because of the new buildings and monuments. Also, it was closer to the city hence many festivities.

I decided to go to this school, because it was closer to the center of business, politics, culture, and education for my state. It offered an opportunity to be around professional who work in the fields that they instruct rather than teaching the hypothetical. The professors are constantly looking at opportunities and advancing their careers, so they are more in tune with the state of economic opportunities offered both locally and abroad, so you can expect a realistic view of the job market upon graduation.

I think this question should be, "Why did I decide to stay at UALR." I never thought I would be at UALR. I didn't want to be at UALR my first year and refused to get involved. I think this was my downfall at first. However, when I got more involved on campus, I knew UALR was right for me. One of the biggest reasons I stayed is that I get paid to attend school. Essentially school is my job and that is amazing. UALR offers so many scholarships for its students. You can apply for private scholarships, departmental scholarships, grants, work study and much more. They are always actively campaigning to raise money for us. I thought it was amazing how much they care about us being able to attend and not have to worry about the financial obligations. I also became more involved with my campus. I ran into the Director for the Office of Campus Life and she spoke with me a few minutes. She helped me figure out my interests and recommended that I speak with the SGA President. A few weeks later I was an active member of the Senate. SGA helped me to branch out and now I am apart of so many organizations. In addition, I really loved the career planning services, the study abroad options and the community relations that UALR has. Those relations can help you find a job after you graduate or an internship. Also, who doesn't want to study abroad??? I hopefully, get to go next year. So many of my friends have and they thought the experience was amazing. There are so many reasons why I chose to stay and I love my decision.:)
