University of Arkansas at Little Rock Top Questions

The assistance from faculty and administration could be way better, specifically in the financial aid office. I think they should do a better job communiticationg oppurtunities for scholarships and aid. Perhaps adding all interested students to a listserve that can be sent out regularly. Another thing my school struggles with is providing tangible dates for financial aid, housing, academic advising, etc. I'm a big planner so when I have actual dates, I'm able to plan accordingly.

I would honestly say safety is the worst thing about my school. The school is located in a bad neighboor hood. In the past year there were shootings, robberies, and a kid-napping around and or on the campus.

The worst thing about the school was the parking. Adequate parking was placed far away from the campus, and there was a long walk to classes. Since most students attend after work, there was often a short window to leave work, grab a bite to eat, and make it to class on time.

The security/police are lacking. There has been an influx of crime around campus. I think that the security and campus police should step up to ensure that the students are 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} safe.

I don't believe anything is bad about the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The school has the second highest population in the state of Arkansas and has around a 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} retention rate. The school is also a safe place to be because it hardly experiences any crime and has a large amount of security.

The worst part about my school there is not a lot of school activites that don't focus on greek life.

The only thing that was of an inconvienance to me during my years as an undergraduate student were the long lines in the Financial Aid and Admissions office.

The worst thing about my school is the location. It is a 40 mile commute for me.

Too many students seem to only be here for social reasons and aren't serious about their studies.

The worst thing about my school would have to be the library. The hours are not as accomodating as most students would like and the interior is not up to date. I do believe that they are working on it though.

I would have to consider not having campus life to be one of the worst things about UALR. Because the orgizations are in the process of trying to build the campus life up. So there are moments where there is nothing to do.

The online technology needs upgraded to current technologies.

The worst part about UALR is that there is not a lot of campus involvement. Many people do not live on campus therefore there is not much need for campus activities. No one gets excited about sporting events or Greek Life. Campus involvement is not stressed or hardly even talked about.

Their testing for math using the ALEKS program is a complete drawback, because it doesn't accurately reflect what you do know, and it adds extra problems for you to do if you don't make the minimum percentage requirement , thus making it almost impossible to make a good grade even if you make 1{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} below the requirement.

The location of the campus is in an older part of town and can be somewhat dangerous after dark.

Probably the academic advising. They are able to let you know what courses to take, but in my experience they do not take the extra steps to help you figure out what you want career wise and what the best route is for you to go if you do not plan to stay at the college for long.

Since UALR is a commuter college, sometimes it is hard to have the feel of a community. Lots of things on campus closer early, and there isn't much to do on the weekends on campus other than the gym.

The workload. There are times when it feels like they expect us to know much more than we actually do. As such, I struggle with some of the projects because I'm unsure what to do for them and asking for help often leaves me more confused. Though, it's probably because they're wanting us to be able to research and grow on our own.

Classes that are madatory that students don't need.

I think the worst thing about UALR is that the finanicial aid office doesn't care. They give you the run around just to get you out the office. The are horrible. People end up having to pay out of there pockets because UALR doesn't review there financial aid till the next semester, when the did their fasfa on time.

Picking something to be the worst about this school would mean there is something I did not like about it. I cannot think of anything that I did not like about UALR. I am in a University now that I feel is too big, so I like the size of UALR. The teachers are great. The community is great. I would do it all over again.

One of the worst things about my school is the fact that there is no parking that is close to the buildings, you have to walk a mile before you even get to class, which isnt' that great when its pouring down rain.

The worst thing about my school is the high prices of the food. We have Taco Bell, Quiznos, a cafeteria and a convienient store and the prices are so high. Then when you go off campus the regular stores are cheaper, but some kids do not like to take the bus or they don't have cars, so they pay for the food anyway. I have a meal plan and with the food so high i can only afford to buy the cheapest food because the money tends to go quick. I'm only saying lower the prices.

there's not enough campus life going on for those who want to be inovlved in other things other than poetry or art, etc. greek life is very low.

Very little school spirit

Location. It is located in Arkansas' Capital city. It's not in a particularly 'urban' area, but still not it the best neighborhood.
