Arkansas' student body is very diverse, and I think everyone feels comfortable being the way they are.

Emily

I think there is a good mix of people on the campus. We have a little bit of everything. Some people head to class basically in their pajamas while some girls get all dressed up with their heels and poofed hair. I'm in between. Jeans and a t-shirt are pretty typical for me...except for when it gets really cold, which is alot. Then I wear as much as I can.

Alex

We have a very mixed student body!

Katie

I think our campus is very diverse and we welcome everyone. Everyone could find a place to fit in here.

Alex

Wide variety

There are many different racial groups on campus, and just like any other campus they are in many ways segregated as much as the university tries to deny it.

Kristin

Most of the students from the U of A are from Arkansas or Texas. I think there is quite a bit of diversity on our campus.

Courtney

there are more race issues here than kansas most are from in-state so i'm an odd ball

Abbie

I think there's diversity on campus, but not enough for me. I wish that there was more interaction between the different races, like international students, ect. Different type of students do interact, i just wish it was more than it is now. Most students here are politically aware, but there are LOTS of people here who don't really know what they're talking about when it comes to politics.

Hunter

I feel like social groups are pretty divided. The Greek community, the independents, the athletes, and the international students seem to stick with their own group. This may be because of similar interests.

kate

most students rock the t shirt..i dont feel like i have to get dressed up for class at all. i think we have a pretty big greek system but just bc you arent greek doesnt mean you cant be involved..we have sooo many clubs and student organizations. i dont think the majority of school is politically aware but many people know what theyre talkin bout. i think the parties are pretty split on campus..there are quite a few republicans seeing as we are from the south

allison

diverse

Rebecca

the student body is amazing. you can tell they really love Arkansas and take a lot of pride in our school

Anna

student body connected

Claire

So involved!!!

Taylor

Very dynamic, too big to really have cliques but there are the sororitys and the frats most students have a pretty well off family.

Ashley

I think as a whole Arkansas is a little too involved in Greek life, but I am a part of that so I can't really complain too much.

Whitney

The BEST!

katie

We are a very spirited school. wooo pigg soooiee!! we have people from all over the world attend our fine institution. we also know how to party. we are just a very well rounded university.

Jenny

Students wear t-shirts, spandex leggings, and Ugg boots to class.

Andrea

We are very active! I love it!

Brittany

Nobody cares about what they wear. I see everyone in sweats and a t-shirt. I used to get dressed up for class but then I stoped caring.

Meagan

The student body is really diverse if you really look around. Of course being in greek life it can seem that that is all that is around is other greeks but there is a pretty equal representation of people on campus. I wear jeans and a t-shirt to class and I think pretty much everyone does. It isn't a very formal campus at all.

Alex

There is a wide variety of students that exist on our campus. Everyone can find their niche, and they definetly do not have to be a greek. Most students are from Arkansas and surrounding states, but I do know some foreign exchange students.

Katie

Coming to the U of A with a stereotypical picture of how "Arkansas Girls" is completly wrong. There is a wide variety of girls that go to the U of A. Even the stereotype of a sorority girl is wrong because all different types of girls join sororities and there is most likely going to be someone just like you no matter where you go!

Charlie

We are awesome. We are fun and involved and have a good time!

ashley

I have found that some people look down on greeks. It makes me upset because people shouldn't judge someone just because they have a shirt with greek letters on it. I think out-of-state students that come from far away would feel most left out. (Maine, Vermont, etc.) I don't know about most students, but most people I KNOW wear comfy pants/shorts and t-shirts. Occassionally I may slip on some jeans. I frequently wear hats and flip flops. I think it's only necessary to be comfortable if you have to sit in class. I more than likely will pay more attention when I'm comfortable than if I had to worry about my thong hanging out of my low-cut jeans or my heels digging into the dirt. Most students are from Arkansas, and there is a large percentage of students that I know from Texas. Most people here are pretty wealthy thanks to their parents.

Shawn

The foreign exchange students, especially the Asians, don't interact with the rest of the student body very much; they tend to stick together. Everyone's pretty friendly. It's pretty rare that you meet a student from somewhere other than Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma. There are A LOT of Texans. And they'll all tell you that Texas is better. Even though they're here b/c they can't afford the same education in Texas. There are a lot of Greeks, but a lot of non-Greeks, too. The non-Greeks tend to stereotype the Greeks and feel like they don't fit in, or are judged b/c they don't belong to a House, but it's not like that. Students wear what they want to class, usually just a t-shirt and jeans, sweats, or just something casual. It's not often that girls wear heels to class, but they will do their makeup full out. Oh, and the "poof" is pretty popular here. It's ugly and dumb, but girls do it anyway. It's sometimes kind of like you don't fit in at frat parties if your hair isn't at least little poofed.

Kelsey

There is something for everyone. There is no reason why someone can not find someone that is in to the same thing as them. Also there is many chances to learn about other people that may not be just like you.

Carly

Our campus is VERY diverse. We have a lot of international students as well as students from all across the US. I think that all types of students interact because we come in contact everyday. We have class together, we live in the dorms together, we see one another in the library...

Whitney

The student body is mostly caucasion. Most students wear tshirts, jeans, or sweats to class. Not many people dress up. Most people come from a sound financial background unless they are on a full scholarship.

Katie

There are many diverse clubs and things to do on campus, as well as very greek oriented clubs and student organizations. Most people are from a close region and most wear t-shirts and jeans to class. A lot of students are politically active and are generally moderate.

Caitlin

I would definitely say our campus is diverse mainly because it is such a large group of people . Sure there are more students who seem to fit in better to the overall image of the college, but there are also other students who choose to create their own path.

Ashley

Arkansas is pretty diverse, but like most places, the different diversity groups don't tend to mingle very much ( i don't think it has to do with racism, but just people migrating to those people that are similar to themselves)

Emily

I love our student body. I think we have a great mix of people (religious, ethnically, racially). I am not involved a lot in the politics of the student body, but I do vote when it comes to election times.

Melodie

The student body at the UofA is great. You have every type of person you can think of. Most students are from Little Rock, Oklahoma, or the Dallas/Forth Worth area.

Mallory

This school is very diverse that is why I think I like it so muich. They are very good with helping who need financial help. Most students are from Arkansas or from surrounding states.

Sarah

I think we are a very diverse campus at AR. I have never had an experience where someone felt they were treated unfair, like by a professor or other students. Most students wear casual clothes to class, it is a very relaxed campus. I have a lot of friends here from AR and a lot from out of state, so most arkansas students are from everywhere!

Amanda

The type of student that would feel out of place may be nontraditional students, but they are still common too. Most Arkansas students are from Texas or Northwest arkansas
