Samantha

We are as about as diverse and open-minded as they come.

Andy

I have found almost all the students very accepting of one another on campus. I was expecting to walk into a situation that would remind me of high school, with cliques and seperation. But everyone gets along with everyone! I've yet to see any sort of discrimination towards any particular group of people, sex, orientation, anything! The only type of student I could see feeling out of place would be one that didn't like the Razorbacks! We figure you picked out the school, you should be proud of your choice!

Meagan

Most students wear t-shirts to class.

Stefanie

There are a lot of different people. I think everyone can find a place they fit at the U of A. Everyone knows what is going on.

Whitney

the student body is pretty content, we don't have any problems from what I have seen I think we get along great.

Jamie

Our student body has a vary good ratio. Most students dress very casual to class and that is nice. Our campus as a hole is very involved in some way almost every student on this campus is involved in at least one acitivity and on an average two.

Lauren

There are many different types of people on campus, I dont think anyone would feel out of place. There are also alot of groups to join and they are coming up with new ones all the time.

Bethany

everyone is found equal here!

Kristen

Arkansas is a very diverse school and everyone is able to fit in. The school is pretty greek and that is a good way to make friends. Students from the north I think would feel a little bit out of place. Most Arkansas students are from Arkansas, which could be hard somtimes if your from out of state. Lots of students from all the same school tend to go to the school and hang out together, but eventually high school groups ends and people hang out with people they have classes with and similar interests. The finanicial backgrounds varies. Most students are politically aware and conservative.

Amy

Most students wear jeans and T shirts to class unless they are in a Greek organization. Most greeks on campus dress up on Mondays to show pride in being a greek. There are lots of different types of students on campus in terms of diversity and they all interact well. There is not a lot of racism on campus, and if there is any, it is unseen by the majority of the student population.

Kara

LOVES THE HOGS!!! It is an awsome feeling to be a razorback student. You can yell out into "How bout them Hogs" and people will yell back at you. Its like an unspoken love among the students. Your all fans and love the school and want to see it succeed.

Juliana

The student body at Arkansas is very supportive. There is not a whole lot of diversity around campus, which I personally think is kind of a shame and something that the campus should work on. There is a comfortable vibe from the students here. Most students dress casually to class. It's fun to just go to class in a t-shirt and jeans and then save nicer clothes for when we go out.

Robyn

I realized that it doesn't matter who you are, everyone takes you for who you are. I am Jewish and I haven't met another Jewish person yet. It bothered me at first, but I realized that people either don't care or just don't know. I went to a non-denominational private school, where the majority of the students were Jewish. Most of my good friends are Jewish, here it is different, but I still don't mind that it is different.

Brittany

There is a large percentage of White Americans on campus, but African-Americans and Hispanic races are also represented. I have friends of all different races on campus. I think everyone can find a place to fit in here. A lot of people wear sweat pants/comfortable clothes to class. Sometimes girls will dress up, but I feel as if that takes waaaaay too much effort! It seems that many people attending the U of A come from a wealthy financial background. As for myself, I did not come from a wealthy family, so I definately think it varies from person to person.

Cameron

I've lived in Fayetteville my whole life so I've been exposed to a lot of different cultures and people just from being close to the University. Going to high school almost on top of the University campus opened my eyes to a lot of things. It makes me very dissappointed that a lot of the southern Arkansans are extremely conservative politically. A lot of the time people don't know how they really feel, just go with their parents and try to be hardcore about it. I am very liberal and I pride myself on being very accepting of all types of people. I have met a lot of extremely sheltered students and I hope that living in Fayetteville for at least 4 years will open their eyes and minds.

Sydney

The Arkansas student body is very diverse. When you go to the Union you will see people hanging out in the coffee shop, studying in the hall, or hanging out talking about the newest discovery. There are so many different types of people on this campus and with a campus this size you can find your group without searching too far.

Brittany

Most Arkansas students are from Arkansas. There are quite a few from the surrounding states also: Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, etc. We do have quite a few foreign exchange students here as well that are studying abroad. I don't think anyone would feel out of place at Arkansas. Everyone has the southern hospitality thing going here so it would be hard to feel out of place I think.

Emily

I love that students come from everywhere. North face is a popular brand at Arkansas.

Taylor

My experiences with religion and race are both good. The are all very diverse and each group doesnt push their beliefs on one another.

Cory

Most students are from Little Rock. Small towns in arkansas or texas

Emma

I think just about any student can find a home in the social life of U of A. I love that we have a wide selection of people here, instead of sticking to the rich, snobby kids, or the ridiculously intelligent students. We may have both of those, but the campus doesn't consist of only them. We're a pretty laid back student body, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Patrick

Racial diversity isn't the highest at Arkansas but is becoming more diverse every year. Most students on campus come from a christian background although other religious affiliations can be noted on campus. Most Students are from middle and upper middle class families. Despite being located in Arkansas most students are from urban areas such as Little Rock, Hot Springs, North West Arkansas, Dallas area, or Tulsa. Students from lower and working class homes would probably feel a little uncomfortable on campus. Most students dress conservatively and wear such brands as Polo, Patagonia, North Face, Columbia, Vineyard Vines, Sperrys, Clarks, and Lacoste. Very few people wear urban and teen brands such as Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, Express, or other metro type clothing. Different types of students don't typically interact as much as they probably should. Students on campus are not as politically active as they could be, very low numbers vote on key university issues and the political scene isn't as prevalent as other universities although Bill and Hillary Clinton have both been faculty members at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Most students are from conservative families although there are many left wing supporters on campus. Students don't talk about how much they will or hope to make in the future, although most students are willing to discuss the degree they are pursuing.

Tiffany

i think arkansas studets are very diverse. You can find where you belong in any group of people.

Amber

different experiences with both, definitely had to deal with things I'm not used to

stephanie

Its nice

Claire

I participate in the religious groups on campus. We have StuMo (Student Mobilization) and Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). I don't know if anyone would feel left out here. The campus body is really diverse. You just have to be open to new things and new people. Well what you wear depends on which group you fall into. There are upperclassmen who dress professionally for class, that's not me. The the sorority group, which is known for wearing t-shirts with letters on them, jeans, uggs, and north face/patagonia jackets. When it's warm it just switches to shorts and sperry's. The frat guys wear a LOT of Polo. They wear the colored shorts, the polo shirts, and the backwards hats. Different types of students don't interact that much. After you establish yourself in a group, you kinda stick with it. Dining hall - Hmm... there might be a table of Asian students (they stick together), a group of all the Christian guys and girls that push a ton of tables together (they get really loud in the dining halls), fraternity boys with their backwards hats, and then a table of sorority girls that just rolled out of bed and are looking bad. I think most students are from in state. BUT there are lots from Texas too. Some from Oklahoma, some from Missouri. Few from Kansas, few from Tennessee. A lot of people have money, I would say that most people are somewhat politically aware, but not super active. I think most people are right winged. Some people in the business school (especially) talk about what they'll make out of school.

Alison

religion is semi forced any non Christian jeans, tee shirts kind of tables - greeks, asians, liberals, conservatives arkansas wealthy yes republicans yes

Kelsey

I am an active member of Campus Crusades for Christ. There is pretty much a place for everyone at Arkansas. Students wear everything from sweats to dresses when going to class. Different types of students are always interacting. There are way more than four tables of students in each dining hall, and they are not segregated. Most students at Arkansas are from Arkansas. Many come from well-to-do backgrounds. Students are very, very politically aware. They are predominantly left, but I am far right. Students do talk about how much they will earn one day.

Jack

there are all kinds of people here. its kind of like a big melting pot, and to my knowledge, no one really feels out of place or unwelcome. everyone sits with everyone else. everyone talks to everyone else.

Alex

Student life is extremely diverese here at the University of Arkansas. No student would feel left out here. Most students wear either polo or hippie looking clothes. Most Arkansas students are from Arkansas or texas. I dont really know how right, left, or center students are.

Brittany

i feel like no one would feel out of place here at the university of arkansas. we have people from all over the map here and no one feels weird or like they don't belong here. all students are open to other groups. at the dining halls, everyone sits with everyone else. there isn't a table of one particular race or kind of person. I'm friends with people that i would never even have given a second glance back in high school.

Bailey

Most Arkansas students are from Arkansas and Texas, most as in probably like 80{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of people you meet. And to be completely honest, Arkansas is not THAT diverse. This school does not reflect the population of the state proportionatly. The majority of people here are middle class white kids. We wear polos and jeans or PINK sweatpants to class, and a large percentage of our campus is greek. Most people here are also extremely conservative, in regards to both politics and lifestyle choices. There are not a lot of openly GLBT people here, and if they are here they are not visible in a normal day on campus. Most people also stick to conservative Christian type values in regards to everything, except their own partying habits.
