The University of Baltimore is a run of the mill school for most majors - unless you're in Business major or Law student. Luckily, during undergrad I was a Finance student within their Business school which has been recognized for providing some of the best Business programs in the country. Unfortunately, other programs seem to be forgotten. Their art department is definitely lacking, for there are no real art classes given at UB. However, MICA is relatively close and there are opportunities for students to take courses there (for a hefty fee).

The school is best known for its law school and its Arts program. The Forensic Science and Criminal Justice program ranks among the top in the nation. Very much a commuter school. There are no dorms. So your options are living at an expensive apartment or off-campus. Most students go to entertainment centers like the Modell Lyric, Hippodrome, Meyer-Symphony Hall, the Arena, or the Inner Harbor area. It's also not far from Washington, D.C. There's things to do. You just got to look. It's one of the most affordable universities in Maryland. However, that may be due to not having any sports teams or many extracurricular activities hosted by the school. I feel safe on the actual campus itself but if you deviate far from it, depending on where you're going; there's some pretty bad areas. Again, if you go to the Harbor area or the surrounding counties, you're fine. Best way to go to the Inner Harbor area is either light rail or get cheap parking ahead of time on a parking app. Or you can take the MARC train to D.C.

I love UB. They school consist of most working adults so there isn’t much rift raft going on, on campus. There are several opportunities to meet great people, and to make long lasting connections. The University of Baltimore helps you to position yourself to be successful in your career/ goals.

Its a small school and there isn't much to do there. Even though their isn't much to do at the University of Baltimore the academics are still amazing. The professors are always there whenever you need them and they make you feel important and that you matter. Our school has a game room, common room and a gym and that's about it but those facilities are somewhat decent. I do wish that they did have some more things their for students to do because most people me for example leave after class is over because their isn't much to do around the campus itself.

    My school is really know for its law school. I love my school. I appreciate the small class sizes because it is very intimate, which makes any classroom conversation or argument more engaging. The teachers know you by name because the classes are so small. I think this is what I love most about the school.

  5. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

    If I could go back in time to high school and talk to myself, I would have done things differently. Knowing what I know now about college life , my advice to myself would be to take things more seriously. I would have ceased every opportunity I could to make myself a better candidate for collegel. I would have participated in more extracurricular activities to become more rounded person. I took two college courses while I was in high school, I wish that I would have taken more because I could have been further ahead when I began in 2006.

    UB is near so many cool places in the city of Baltimore such as the Inner Harbor, Lyric Opera House, museums, etc. The campus is made up of different buildings surrounded by an urban area with eateries, stores, and a Starbucks every time you turn around! The Student Center is a great place to study, hang out, or just play a video game to unwind. UB is even better than I'd anticipated it would be and I really love attending this college.

    The school isnt like an average univerity, it doesnt offer a meal plan.

    When I tell my friends about my school, I mostly brag about how my school has a great reputation and how my school accepted all of my credits from the previous college I attended.

  12. What's unique about your campus?

    My school is very informative. Any time I have a question or concern there is always someone able to assist or instruct me in the right direction. The professors are available by email, office hours and phone which is great and they will set up appointments to discuss your situation. As a freshman, sometimes its uncomfortable to always be asking questions and recieving guidance. I don't feel that way here.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
