I will never forget the day of my freshman year when the UC police forced the protester who had been living in the tree in the middle of Dwinelle Plaza for over a month to leave his nest. Even though I thought that living in a tree for over a month (not to mention the 2+ years other protesters spent in the oaks on the eastern tip of campus at the same time) was a little extreme and his yelling attracted crowds that were hard to navigate to get to classes, I was sad to see him go. I never even got to see his face, since he hid it to hide his identity. I was never really sure about what he was protesting, but I think it had something to do with the corruption of the Regents and the unethical practices of the University and the Anthropology department.
A day on campus that I'll never forget is when my younger sister came to visit me. My roommate and I took her to Memorial Glade and we had a picnic, listened to music, and played cards. It was sunny and breezy out! Perfect day.
