The University of California Los Angeles is a very friendly, academic, and welcoming place. Attending the University of California Los Angeles was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has challenged me academically through rigorous coursework and inquisitive professors. It has also introduced me to a student population that is motivated and intelligent and that push me to be the best version of myself. The University of California Los Angeles has also opened up a lot of doors for me in terms of opportunity. Being a student that wants to go into the medical field, this university has an amazing medical program and allows its students to get involved in various research and job opportunities. I personally was able to get a job in a human genetics’ lab through the work study program. Human genetics is a field that I am very interested in, but it also a rarer field. Back home, there was no opportunities in this field for me, so I was not entirely sure if this was what I wanted to pursue. As a first year, I was already to get insight into the field of human genetics and what it would be like to have a job in this field. The University of California Los Angeles also allowed me to pursue my love of writing through their prestigious newspaper, the Daily Bruin. It is pretty rare for a college newspaper to be this respected and professional. I am very lucky to get to write for this publication, and this would not have been possible at another school.

Although UCLA is small in size, lacking in acres, its grandeur in all else proves its worthiness of its title as the #1 public university. There's life on this campus and an undeniably dynamic energy to be found here. This campus is one with an overwhelmingly beautiful aesthetic; wonderful architecture, the greenery, and the sunny California skies. Students are welcoming, anyone is sure to find where they belong at UCLA. Aside from finding "their people" easily, students can also find any resources necessary readily available on campus. Classes are rigorous, which might seem like a negative to non-bruins, but the challenge makes it all the more rewarding when the quarter is over! And best of all, the food is worth those freshman 15! I am overjoyed that I chose UCLA and experience even greater gratitude that UCLA chose me too.

UCLA was definitely an amazing undergraduate experience. There is always something to do, whether that be sports, clubs, Greek life, shopping, or outdoor activities. I personally felt that the academics were astounding. A lot of the professors were amazing and my work ethic definitely improved. Also, there are a lot of opportunities at UCLA. Definitely recommend.

The teachers could invest more of their time in helping students develop the skills needed for their desired major. Professors could also be more flexible with their office hours to provide the one on one time that some students need to help them succeed.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

When I first transferred to UCLA, I was extremely nervous. As an Electrical and Computer Engineering major, I knew what I was getting myself into - an extremely competitive and difficult field with many all-nighters to come. As scary as it was, I was also extremely excited and stoked, because I had finally scored my dream school and I knew that there would be endless available opportunities if I did well in my field. My first quarter was extremely difficult, but gradually I adapted and the upcoming quarters became much easier compared to the first quarter, although the classes that I was taking were much more advanced and complex. I also met a lot of great people which made my journey at UCLA much more enjoyable. UCLA provides such amazing services; there is academic support, physical support, mental support, financial support, and emotional support; you name it! If you are resourceful enough, there is help and support for every aspect of your life. There are multiple engineering honor societies that provide free tutoring for every topic. All of the sudden, the most complex engineering classes become not too difficult as long as you take advantage of the smart available tutors that are provided for FREE. There is also free coffee and snacks available at the transfer center M-F 9-5, which was also the highlight of my everyday. Being a broke college student whose already in tons of student debt was difficult, so being able to sip on that fresh free coffee and munch on those free snacks every morning was truly a game changer, it really did brighten my mood every morning; I know it’s not much for a lot of students, but it really is the little things that makes a big difference. UCLA also provides test banks, were you can access previous exams of professors, and resourceful students that take advantage of this resource, usually do well on the exams because they have a good idea of what style of testing to expect. Overall, my UCLA journey has been more than amazing, and it’s more than I could ever ask for. I truly feel at home, and I’m extremely happy to be a bruin.

I cherish my experience at UCLA, as it's an extremely well rounded, influential campus. In addition to being able to advance myself academically and professionally, I've had many social experiences that I appreciate, as they've helped me grow as a person. I know that no matter a student's path at UCLA, they will have a formative experience that will help them come into their own in many respects.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

UCLA is just the best school. It has everything I was looking for as an undergraduate: impressive academics, big city with lots of opportunities, amazing weather, good social scene, college town, school spirit, etc. You can pick and choose what you want to be involved in; UCLA offers so much to students that I'm sure whatever you are looking for exists. All the professors are top notch and the classes are genuinely interesting because the professors truly care. It's a big school but I believe in the saying "you can make a big school feel small but you can't make a small school feel big." Overall, my experience at UCLA has been nothing short of amazing.

UCLA is a very prestigious and prominent school. My school offers a very valuable education for those who attend. There is a sense of community and pride that will live on with the students forever. There are lots of opportunities available to be involved with at school. There are a numerous amount of diverse organizations that students can join. Many of the organizations teach students skills that will help shape their skills and future interests. Mental health is a very important aspect of the UCLA culture and there are many resources available for students to seek help, whether it be for their mental health, academic interests, or career planning. UCLA prepares its students and sets them up to succeed with their futures.
