My university is known as an ecofriendly school. In fact, the University of California, Merced won an Owings award for Environmental Excellence. This university is the newest campus of all UC campuses. Classes are relatively small and students have the opportunity to meet their professors one on one and even know them on a personal level. This campus provides plenty of resources for students to succeed academically. As my second year at this university, I have met individuals who I now consider friends. This university is so welcoming and I am proud to be attending this university.

UC Merced is the newest UC (University of California) in California, that strives to be environmentally friendly and a leading 21st century research facility school where faculty and students work together to generate a better tomorrow, but of course it is also known for the precious cows the surround the campus.

Being located in the middle of no where. Right next door to cows. A place were incoming freshman tend to believe "I am transferring out as soon as I can!" However, after winter break you come back exstatic to be in this beautiful new campus, ready to learn and catching up with all the great friends you made the first semester. Then by the time Spring semster comes around all you have in mind is "I can't wait to be back at UC Merced, what i found here is not worth leaving."

Our school is known for the research that they do. In fact, many of the instructors get paid to do research outside of the classes that they teach. This makes for a research based experience here in Merced. Our school is big on Biology and pre-med as well as engineering. We have a growing Management and business program as well. We are also known as being the most diverse campus in the University of California system. We are the smallest, which guarantees that you will have a more intimate learning experience.

I would say my school is best known for it's diversity. When I first started at the University of California, it was one of the most diverse UC campuses. Every where you look, you can see groups of students from different ethnicity. This was something that every student on campus could benefit from. We were able to connect and learn about other ethnic groups out there without having to leave the campus. This diversity has enable many people to visit our campus when culture shows were held by different ethnic groups.

We are best know for being the first UC to be built in the 21st century and we are the greenest campus out of all the UCs in California. Also, Michelle Obama delivered the keynote speech for the First full graduating class here at UC Merced.

Other than Michelle Obama, UC Merced is known for its commitment to recycling and staying green. There is a very big effort to make people aware of the condition of our planet. While it may not be the most popular college, UC Merced has a lot to offer.

It is still a small campus, but that makes it easy to interact with other students as well as the faculty and staff. The class sizes are just right, providing the ideal learning environment. This also enables students to start a legacy and be remembered at this campus for generations to come. That is an experience that you will not be able to find at any other school.

Not a lot since it's so new. It borrows the UC brand for the time being until it can establish an emphasis. The school's most popular majors are biology pre-med, engineering, and psycology.
