Merced is a small town and UC Merced is a small school so if you're looking for a big, bustling city with a lot of things to do then you may be very disappointed. Honestly, though, UC Merced is what you make out of it; if you can find ways to have a good time without a bunch of things to do then I think you might like it here.

A person who should not attend this school is they type of person who loves the "BIG" city or enjoys a crowded ciy or town.

People that like the busy city life, Merced is a very rural city. UC Merced is a very new school, it was built 2005 so it is barley growing and doesn't really have anyting surrounding it. It is in the middle of no where, pretty relaxing if that's what you're looking for.

A person that does not like the fact that the city does not have a night life .

If you are looking for a college where you can skate by and party, don't come to UC Merced. No, really. We don't want you.

A non self-direacted and non self-motivated student should not attend UC Merced beacuse it is very competitive and students must stay on top of their work if they want to succeed.

the type of person who should not attend this school... would have to be a person who is a party animal or is expecting a huge campus. Here at UCM the student count is around 4500, which is a small number but it is ok, since mostly everyone knows each other in there own class. another good thing is everything on campus is not spread out so everything in campus is within walking distance

I think this is a school for anyone who want to go to school. We welcome any people to come to our school.

In the University of California, Merced students that love to be in the big cities and do nothing should not attend this University. Out here, cows and farm surround students. The town, in which the University is located in, is small. There is not much to do here unless the students do something. Sitting around and waiting for the fun to come to the students does not happen much. The campus has events that are for the students but it is up to them to show up and enjoy themselves. All the events held by the school is free!

Merced is a small town. The campus is located in a rural area, with cows in nearby open fields. If someone is looking for excitement and/or a campus near a large city, I don't think Merced would be the right place for them. There are some intra-mural sports activities, but that is also limited. That might be another reason a student might not like UC Merced. If that student was expecting frequent large sporting events, UCM would not be a good match for him or her.

Someone who is interested in science or history and is interested in learing about different cultures.

One kind of person that should not attend this school are people who are unmotivated to complete the rigorous coursework. I also believe that people who are unorganized because you have to keep each coursework from being mixed up with your other classes. Lastly, one kind of person that should not attend this school are people who procrastinate because the coursework will pile up and fast and in addition people who are wasteful because the school is all about be green.

Someone who needs to be entertained all the time. People who come here should be creative and open enough to not have activities placed on their doorstep.

If you're not willing to try hard and put your hand to the plow you probably dont want to attend this school. Professors, tutors, and counselors are always there to help the students that want to help themselves. If all you want to do is party, because thats what you think college is all about this is probably not the school for you. If you want college to be just like highscool with all the drama and popularity contests this schools more like a family and less like an episode of The Hills.

Someone who wants the sterotypical college experience (tons of social frat or soro parties, tailgating events, football games and other large athletics, a large campus, new faces everyday).

A student who is all brains with no willingness to get out there and make something of themself.

Students who grew up in a busy city with a large population do not tend to like life at UC Merced. Merced is a very small town and most activities are in surrounding areas. There is a great emphasis on outdoors. In short, if you don?t like the outdoors, and you want to be in a large place with a lot of things happening at once, UC Merced is not the campus.
