Great small school. Big sense of community. If you are used to a small town or want to attend a university in one, this is the place to be.

University of California-Merced was the first school that gave me an offer. Compare to another UCs', UCM is the smallest and the youngest. When I told my parents that I am going to come here to study, my parents weren't happy about that. And they were tried to change my mind. Fortunately, they were chose to respect of my choice. Currently, I have a goal, I want to join in to the study abroad program. But me and my family can not afford the tuition fee of the college I want to study at. However, I still pursuing my dream. I believe that if there's one door close, there must be another door open for me.

At the moment, what describes the school best is the fact that it's small. You don't need to take a bus across campus, the classes are generally small, and there is ample opportunity to actually get to know your teachers. Research at this school is also currently not exceptionally competitive-it is possible for an undergraduate to participate in graduate level work. If you want to go to graduate school, this environment is exceptional. Some things to be warned: the school food is generally below-par, and signing up for classes is more competitive than at a larger school. There are most definitely cows surrounding the campus, and it is generally a rural community. If either these last two things are objectionable, I highly discourage attending UC Davis. They may be larger and more suburban, but they still have the cows and agriculture.

The best thing is the smell outside. Nothing like the smell of cow pie in the morning. That and the fact yosemite is only an hour or so away. And housing is cheap.
