I wish, that i had known to be ready for anything.

To try everything, sports, clubs, groups of friends, food!

Before I came to this school, I wish that I had known all of my choices for getting financial aid. I chose to go to this school at the last minute, so I didn't get very many financial aid offers. I didn't even apply to this school. I wish I had done that as well as do thorough research on UC Merced.

I wish I had known how great of a network the UC system is, it would have strengthened my desire to attend this school.

I wish I knew how to do math better.

I wish I had taken the time before I got to college to plan out a rough sketch of what I wanted for my future, perhaps an ideal job in mind or a list of things to accomplish by the time I'm 20 and how I could go about achieving them.

I wish I'd known how isolated from my family I'd end up feeling but that regardless the transition from high school to college isn't at all as daunting as it first appears to be. What I really wish I'd known was that the distance from town really makes the school seem as if it stands on its own and as someone who's grown up in the city it can be a bit maddening at times.

I wish I had known that there are indeed many people who share the enthusiasm and hope I share, when it comes to learning and contributing to humanity, through education. I wish I had known that school was fun, enlightening, and most of all, that my dreams could come true. At UC Merced I have learned the value of hard work, integrity, and camaraderie. I only wish I had known this kind of environment that revolves around learning existed when I was in high school.

When I came to this school there was not that much to know as it was the first year to open. Though I would have probably like to know what to expect of college overall, how I should approach the professors when I had concerns.

I wish I knew that you had to drive for awhile before coming to the nearest store, bank, etc. I also wish I knew that there aren't many things to do at Merced.

I wish that I knew that the school would not be accredited for a long time and that there were not very many people my age attending.
