UC Riverside is known for it’s diversity and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as you step foot on campus you will feel welcome and at home. The professors are always available through their office hours and are willing to reschedule if you cannot make it. There’s a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities you can join. I have struggled to find classes because there are many students at this university but I still believe the academics are great. There are also many research labs you can work at to gain experience which is definitely a plus!

I honestly really love going to school at UCR. There's so much diversity and everyone I've met is very sweet. Although Riverside itself is pretty sketchy, the campus isn't like that and is really beautiful in my opinion. Most of the teachers are great and I've grown to love English even more than I did in high school. I'm not that active in clubs and student life activities, so I wouldn't know that stuff, but there is lots to get involved with on campus for sure. I think that most people just forget about this UC, but I think we have so much to offer then what people would expect. UC Riverside has made a lot of positive changes to the campus that other UC's have been influenced to do such as us being the first UC to even have an LGBTQ+ center as well as supporting and representing other communities at our school and providing a safe environment. I love it at UCR for everything it has given me and I hope others feel the same.

UC Riverside is a campus that values the success for their students. There are always something to do to make he students feel as part of a family. Although it does has its flaws as any campus does it still a place that I’m proud to be apart of and call my college and second home.

I enjoyed my first year at this school! It is a hard adjustment as a freshman, but they offered programs that made the transitions easier. I do feel as if the learning community made my experience less difficult, for they informed you and told you how to study and pass exams. I had a good first year and I am excited for my upcoming years!

It’s the best place to meet new people and built your careers foundation. I also love how every one there is so helpful and understanding when it comes to academics. I really enjoy being there and I could not have picked a better place to call my home for the next four year. HIGHLANDERS !!!!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The facilities, faculty, and the people are great. Overall everyone here is friendly. The only two big complaints that I have is that I wish that the nearby services and restaurants were better quality and that the psychology field would be more expansive. For example, I was sad to realize that the other UC universities had different majors/concentrations within psychology, but UCR doesn't.

On Campus Housing: I've lived in Pentland for 2 years and have been living in Glen Mor for 2 years. The rooms are clean and nice, but we have thin walls here. I can literally hear people from next room or downstairs chat. Depending on the location, the loud garbage trucks will wake you up in the morning. The elevators in the older buildings are sloooow. Besides that, I'm satisfied. However, Pentland and Glen Mor are very expensive, so do look into other housing options if you can. Off Campus Housing: Off campus apartments provided by the school are relatively cheap. I've been to Oban once and it was very nice but I think they could've made the living room smaller and the bedrooms bigger. The bedrooms are still enough for one person, though. Other off campus apartments are cheaper and furnished (unlike Oban) but the buildings are old. Houses in Riverside in general are very cheap, around $400-$500/month including the utility. However, the area is not safe to be walking around alone at night. If you think you are going to have classes till late, consider living on campus. It may not save your money, but it may save your life. Campus Food: The dining hall food tastes okay for a year, but you'll get sick of it beyond that. I prefer food from food trucks (tacos from Chameleon are bomb), HUB, the Barn, or Subway. Snacks from the campus convenient stores are expensive, but we have variety of options. Students do complain about the food options on campus, but I personally think we have enough (considering the fact that I also cook things for myself). Campus Facilities:

I am not a fan of UCR. I have had problems registering for classes every single quarter. Between prerequisite clearance and crappy registration times, so that by the time it's my turn the classes are full, to an awful schedule because you have to take any class available regardless of when its at. I haven't been able to get a job my entire time here because of how awful my class schedule is. The academic advisors are no help and the teachers pretend like they care, but offer no real guidance. My class sizes will be 300+ students until the day I graduate because the psychology major was over admitted. I will never benefit from more intimate class settings and that is really unfortunate. The surround area is full of the homeless population and the prices for what you get are outrageous. I am not a fan of Riverside and wish I would have never decided to attend this school. What a joke for a "University of California".

Its a very beautiful campus that i hope i can go soon after high school. I want to pursue a degree in computer science and soon become a software engineer. I love everything about it and especially the environment as well as the people. The people there are very friendly and open and i am just in love.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I believe this school has the potential to be one of the best schools across the country. It is well-known for being a diverse school. There are lots of programs one could join that can help ease the transition from high school to college. Coursework does go a bit as it is based on a quarter system.
