UCR is a school where when it is time for academics we take it very seriously, but we like to have fun. The campus is very diverse and the campus embraces all these different diversities. UCR is also a great campus to get research completed. The school offers tons of support for everyone with anything that they may need throughout their time there. I enjoy the campus because its my second home where I have my second family who supports me.

I honestly really enjoy being at UCR. The campus is nice and there are always new things to be found. Sometimes on days where I only have one or two classes, I would ride my bike around the campus to see what else my school has to offer. I check out the different buildings that are on campus, and I find that there is a lot of research for the sciences that goes on at the school. The campus is also very environmentally-friendly, and it even has its own botanical gardens and farm. The area surrounding the campus, however, isn't great, for the city of Riverside has a relatively high crime rate and poverty rate. The campus does however offer an escort service in which a student can request for someone to accompany them to their car or to their class if they feel the need to. There are blue poles all around the campus that act as a station where a student can request a safety escort and the escort can meet the student at that poll and then escort them to their destination. The campus also has their own police department, which also provides extra safety to the students. The phone numbers of both the campus safety escort and the UCPD are available to the students in case they need them. In regards to food, I like a lot of the on-campus eateries. I am a vegetarian, and there are a lot of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options at the different food places on campus, which is nice. In regards to extracurricular activities, the school has many student organizations such as fraternities and sororities, both social and professional, and many different clubs. There are clubs that are geared towards certain cultures, professions, interests, and hobbies. The school also has a brand new recreational center, with a very nice and large gym and pool, and it is completely free to the students. There are also many events that happen all the time at the school too. UCR offers its students free movie premieres (which I love because I am a huge film buff), free music festivals, job fairs, and many more events. There is an on-campus health center and counseling center, which can be useful to students (I took advantage of the counseling center because of rough times going on in my personal life, and they were very helpful to me). The school itself is very underrated. Many people refer to UCR as "UC Rejects," for it has a higher acceptance rate compared to some of the other schools in the UC system. Also, for many people (at least that I know of), UCR wasn't their first choice school (this goes for me, as well). This school isn't one of the more widely known schools in the UC system, such as UCLA or UC Berkeley. Even though this school is not as well known as some other schools, UCR is no doubt a fantastic school. The professors and faculty are very skilled and qualified in what they do and teach, and they are there for the students to learn and to help them succeed. From my personal experience, all of my professors and TA's were available whenever I needed them, both in class and during their office hours, and were also more than happy to help over email. Overall, UCR is an amazing university and I thoroughly enjoy my school and I am very proud and grateful to be a student at UCR.

In all honesty, University of California-Riverside is a pretty good school. The facilities and the campus is clean, and I can say that we're pretty Earth-friendly. Sure, there may some cases around campus, but the campus is fairly peaceful. The students and the staff are approachable, and there is plenty of ways to get help if you're struggling in any aspect.

UCR is a campus that continues to grow and develop each passing year. Honestly, the campus experience is all that you make of it and all the perspective you place upon it. Our campus is very diverse and open to all voices there are with lots of events and programs to support those voices and your education.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

There are many pros and cons for going to UC Riversisde. UC Riverside is smack dab between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, and it has another campus in the resort town of Palm Desert CA, which is basically a suburb of Palm Springs. UC Riverside is part of the prestigious UC system, a system that outperforms most university systems in the country; however, the con is the neighborhood and the city. Riverside CA is not a college town, it's a big vintage city in Southern California, and it is the birthplace of the citrus industry. Riverside definitely has history, but it succumbed to the sprawling of LA, which brought Riverside from a city full of orange groves and trees to a city with zero characters. UC Riverside has a considerable amount of programs, and its faculty is fantastic! You will surround yourself with people from all over the world right here at UCR. UC Riverside also prides itself as the first university of the UC system to provide housings to LGBT students. Overall, UC Riverside is a good university, but if location matters to you, then this university might not cut it for you. To me, location really matters, so I really regretted my decision to go to UC Riverside when I was offered admission at Northern Arizona University years ago.

UCR or R'side are surrounded by aesthetic mountains and is always sunny. A large yellow "C" can be seen from Orbach Library. The bell tower glows green and purple at night and at noon the clock dings to the Harry Potter theme song. What makes UCR so unique is the diversity of students on campus, the passion professors have, the copious amount of food (fresh oranges can be pulled from trees on campus), 40 acres of mountains and gardens known as the Botanic Gardens, and the active student life and events. I came to this school worried and unsure. Now as a second year, I have grown to love the heat, joined organizations on campus such as the Residential Hall Association, live in the luxurious and affordable Glen Mor apartments, and have made new experiences that allowed me to grow as a person. UCR is still expanding today with a new research building being constructed and plans for a new residential hall. When you come to UCR you find a home and a family. I am proud to be a Highlander!

Last year, I came into UCR as a Freshmen. I was quite unhappy and unmotivated because every one else called our school the UC Rejects. However, I realized that my school was more than just a silly name that it was given. UCR is dedicated to creating a environment that is best for the students. If we wanted to voice our opinion and make changes, we were given the chance to. Not only that, but UCR provides students with many resources from financial aid to test supplies. Most of all, everyone is super friendly. I have found the comforts of a home in UCR and I do not regret my decision to attend this school.

University of California riverside is a beautiful, large, and open school full of intelligent and fun people. This school tends to hold a reputation that doesn't exactly fit what it really is. The teachers are willing to help and offer office hours, students are hard working butt also know how to have fun, and the campus is so green and beautiful. It's a lovely place to go to school and a place to feel motivated.

UCR tends to be be under appreciated in coparison to other UCs. I am here to tell you that this is an amazing school. There are some professors who I will admit you need a cup of coffee to stay awake through the lecture. But, there are others who are very passionate and so the classes are a delight. These are the classes that actually give you the opportunity to engage and learn something. Lastly the campus itself is wonderful. There are weekly events by the bell tower and the architecture of some of the buildings are worth a picture. The school has a good vibe, students and staff are overall welcoming and willing to help. This school is great. The only down side in my opinion is that during the summer months the temperature can reach up to 108º F. Even then it's not so bad. UCR is a school worth considering
