The worst thing about my school is that recreational activities are a long distance away. It takes a while to get to things like the beach or the mountains. Thats the only thing that I would consider bad about my school

I hate how there is not much to do in Riverside. Plus, it is too far to commute to a major city like Los Angeles without wasting a lot of gas. I wish we were super close to a beach or Los Angeles. The public transportation sucks, so you need a car. Also, I wish we had a bigger University Village.

The worse thing about UCR would be the surrounding area. The surrounding area is not very pleasant. There are too many drug dealers, prostitutes, and several cases of robberies.

They hire a lot of teachers that have accents and it sometimes makes the lesson hard to comprehend.

Being an athlete, I think the worst thing about our school is the lack of school spirit. This in part stems from not having a football team. Usually students from schools with a football team tend to be more aware and involved with sporting events and news. Having people care about your team or your success motivates you to have more pride in your school because you have more support. With the lack of school spirit at UCR there tends to be a disconnection between students, athletes and the community.

Counselors are not that helpful, rather discouraging, but then again, from experience being at other campuses, this seems to be a trend unless you attend a community college. The professors and the alumni in my opinion are much more helpful at UCR than the counselor. However, my counselor in my opinion was the wrong person for her job, I cant say the same about every other department.

The worst thing about my school is the fact that it is on a quater system. So it is kind of hard to adjust as a freshman, because everything goes by so fast. In the begining it is hard to keep up, but after a while you get used to it.

I believe the worst thing about my school would have to be the surrounding neighborhoods, which are full of violence and drugs. The camplus itself is very pleasant and calm.

The parking layout. This school is a commuting school and they make students partk extremely far away and charge a lot of money for parking permits.

Badly controlled dorms. Some of the people in my dorm caused so much noise and it was hard for me to concentrate when I was studying or reading.

Lack of things to do around campus.

The worst thing is the distance between the students and the professors. It is not easy to build rapport and one gets the sense that they are more concerned with collecting a paycheck and politicking at the administrative level.
