We are all very smart but not cut throat competitive students; the type of students who apply themselves but also know the importance life outside of school and making time for non-academic college experiences.

A very social person will feel comfortable. Also, a person who enjoys the beach and nice weather! A person who has little academic success and needs to try harder than most will most likely not be so successful.

The University of California is a good place for someone who is determined to succeed and has good self control. The party culture of this school is easy to get caught in and can be damaging. The academics of this school are superb and the faculty are all top of their chosen fields. The town of Santa Barbara costs a lot of money and the demographics reflect such statistics. I was one of very few who supported myself through college.

There are many types of people that would enjoy attending this school. I would say that generally, a person who is environmentally concious and likes to socialize would fit in well here. There are a lot of concerts, parties, picnics, beach days, and other social activities so someone who can find a balance between that and school work will do well. Also, this is a research based school so those looking for hands on experience with professors and professionals in the school will fit in here.

People who are strong willed and able to get there stuff done while while there are a lot of distraction.

Everyone is welcome on this campus. The University and its surroundings offer students from diverse ethnicities, backgrounds and passions endless entertainment and outstanding academics.
