What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known about it earlier, I would have started this much sooner. I would have been able to work and complete my degree at the same time. Now with the cut in jobs due to the recession, I am starting later. I could have been done with the classroom and working in the field of my dreams already.

I wish I would of known how large the campus at UCF is. It is the third largest campus in the U.S. (which leads to larger classroom sizes and less one-on-one attention). I wish I would have known how diverse the students and professors are. Alot of the professors have accents which affect learning. These things would have made me be a more prepared student as I inpire to one day become a physician.

Make sure you get involved from the get go with clubs, IM sports, jobs.

I wish i would have known more ways to get funding for school. Its not cheap and hard to find scholarships before comming. I also wish community colleges prepared you more for universities.

I wish I would have known about the troubles with freshman advising. Those advisors are notorious for steering kids the wrong way, and it happened to me. I got signed up for the wrong classes and for classes that were too difficult for me. I wish I would have known that I was not just stuck with one advisor. A second opinion of the courses I signed up for that year would have been beneficial.

It would have been better to go to the main campus rather than enrolling at a Regional Campus. Regional campus has more of a professor feel than for students. I suppose that may entail having limited resources and limited accountability.

I wish I would have known the pre-requisites for the athletic training program. I also wish I would have known how much the dorms and other fees cost. Everything is very expensivie! I wish I could have known about which days most classes are scheduled on and who to get involved with as well.

I wish that I would have realized how important campus involvement is. I am involved with LEAD scholars and enjoy it very much, but realize that during my 2010-2011 year, SGA will be a huge part of my life because I want to make a difference and get to know many of my peers.

I wish that I had known more about just how hard it was going to be and how many distractions that there really are. Orlando is a big place and there is alot to do so you have to make sure you stay focused.

Prior to attending a university, I wish I had more knowledge about the way higher education works. Colleges and universities entail understanding how to work with the myriad of sources that are offered to you. That includes utilizing the technology, the professors, the books, the library, the outside assistance to your benefit. Had I understood all this opportunity provided to me by this school aided by my academic persistence, my first semester here would have been easier to come by.

I wish I knew how much oppurtunity there is at UCF. There is a plethera of resources that are waitng to be tapped by each student, some take advantage of them and some still are unsure of whats out there. I wish I would have asked more questions becuase the staff, instructors and mentors are full of helpful information or know who to ask to get you answers you need.

I wish i knew more about the city, but once I got here it was easy to get used to. I visited twice before on school field trips and for a campus tour.

Before I came to school, I wish I had known that there are some majors which aren't taken as seriously as others in the job market. Meaning that you can work the whole 4 years at college, try your best, work just as hard as everyone else and still not get the job you wanted or the beginnings you need to succeed. True, that can be seen as a consequence of life, but it's a lot of time and money to just throw away.

I wish I had known before I came to the school, that living on campus was more convienent. I love off campus, and I would recommend freshman to live on campus.

I wish I had knowledge of all the amazing opportunities of scholarhips and school involment. Although, I knew of some scholarships programs that they had, I never thought of the broad selection that UCF has to offer to all the students. I also would have like to know more in detail of the career opportunities and internships that the University offers to the students for them to take a step into their career selection.

A few things I wish I knew about before coming to UCF are how many different subc-campuses there were available. Also how easy it was just to do everything on-line versus physically going to the campus for information.

I wish I know the professors I'm currently taking and also know professors so I can take them in the future. Knowing you professor can help drastically with your grade in class and also how much information you will learn. This specific knowledge can help students with internships and even reduce the work load for the class.

Coming from high school I was very use to having smaller class sizes and having a personal relationship with my teachers. The first thing you release when entering a big school is the amount of people in your classes. In three of my classes I have over four-hundred students learning from the same professor. Needles to say he does not know my name. I liked having personal instructions with teachers that remember your name, and expect you to show up for class.

Taking chemistry, biology, algebra, & government all at the same time isn't a wise choice. The advisors don't always advise that you shouldn't overload yourself with hard classes during your 1st semester.
