I couldn't be happier that I chose to go Boulder, but making that choice was not easy. I was deciding between Boulder and Indiana University, both respectable schools academically, with beautiful campuses and solid reputations for the programs I was interested in. It came down to the fact that after I visited Boulder, something stuck with me that I just couldn't shake. It was this totally new environment that I had never experienced and I was mesmerized by it. Soon after, I realized that a new, amazing environment like Boulder was exactly what I wanted. As a Chicago native, I'm really familiar with Indiana's campus and many other college campuses in the midwest - all of them pretty, about the right size, really fun - but CU topped them all because of its location, nestled in the Flatirons. The campus of whatever school you choose will the background to your life for at least the four years, and I think that's why I decided to go to Boulder - I love the campus and my surroundings.

I visited many schools in Colorado, but I was instantly drawn to CU Boulder. The campus seems huge at first, but once on campus, you learn to navigate quickly and realize it is not so big. It is also BEAUTIFUL. From the architecture of the buildings to the gorgeous mountains that frame the campus, I am thankful everyday to wake up in such a place. Also, there are many options when it comes to clubs and student organizations. The study abroad program is said to be one of the best and has destinations all over the world. I also am able to travel with the alternative break student organization which travels to places such as Texas, New York, California, Honduras, Nicaragua and more. The dorm I chose to live in is beautiful and the process through which I was matched with a roommate gave me a wonderful individual to room with. There is a wide variety of classes and the professors are passionate. This university can open so many doors.

I went to high school in Summit County, Colorado. There, I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program, where I passed the tests and earned the IB diploma. Going out of state would have been double the cost of CU, and because of the IB program, I earned 30 credits applicable to CU. This made my first year a little easier than it would have been, and I was able to switch from engineering to a triple major in French, Communication, and Linguistics with relative ease and I'll still be out in 4 years.

there are SO many reasons why I picked to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. My whole life, I had attending a small school. From Kindergarden till 12th grade, I was at the same school. My class size never grew any larger then 46 people. I was in a little bubble. My senior year, I was deciding between two schools. University of Portland and University of Colorado at Boulder. Yes.... I know they are polar opposites. University of Portland is a tiny private university that sits on a bluff in Portland. On the other hand, the University of Colorado at Boulder has 30,000 students, is considered a college town, and has over a 600 acre campus. I realized in February of my senior year that my whole life I had been in a small environment. I knew everyones name, their favorite color and favorite food. One downside of a small school is the few opportunities that are offered. I wanted to go to a university that would enable me to have so many different opportunities. CU Boulder has hundreds of fields of study to dive into, and over 300 student clubs and organizations. I was ready for change. I knew it would be a big transition but I was prepared. Coming to CU Boulder was the best decision I have ever made. I always tell people that college is what you make of it. You don't have your parents helping you make daily decisions or anything like that. You as a student and as an adult have to take responsibility for your life and figure out what you are passionate about. CU Boulder is a great place to find what your truly passionate about.

I decided to go to this school because of the beautiful campus. I love the atmosphere. I also decided to go here because of the location. It's not too far and not too close to home. It's only an hour drive for me if I ever needed to go home. Plus my best friend was going to this school so it was nice to know someone before I came here.

CU Boulder offers a limitless amount of resources through various CU websites and the advisors help you reach your goals. The variety of classes and outstanding academic reputation also drew me in. The campus can be hard to navigate, but Boulder is definitely a college town.

I went to high school in Colorado Springs and therefore the location of CU was definitely one of the main reasons I decided to go here. Colorado Springs is only an hour and half away from my house and so I figured it was close enough to home that I could leave whenever I wanted to, but far enough away to get the full college experience. Another reason I chose to come to CU was that a lot of kids I went to high school with were NOT coming here. I wanted to get away from the kids I went to middle school and high school with. Other than those more location oriented reasons, the one that drew me in the most was the vibe I got when I first visited the school. I couldn't tell you what exactly it was that made me fall in love with the university, but the feeling I got when I came up here let me know that this was where I was meant to be. I loved the beauty of the school, the location of student housing and the thousands of students that inhabited the town. Once I visited for the first time, I knew it was where I was going to spend the next four years.
