The most unique aspect of the universities that I attended for undergraduate and graduate school was the class sizes. The smaller class sizes allowed for one-on-one attention from my professors, and created an environment that was lively and interactive. I was never just a number in the herd. I was an individual and I was able to make personal contributions and receive personal influence.
This school has an incredibly strong personal community; everyone is very relaxed and open to new ideas and it's easy to be a part of university-wide events or find your small-group niche, if that's what you're looking for. Daily there are meetings, speakers, or philosophy discussions held on campus. The art village is also very inclusive with all it's artists, and other small groups like foreign language students meet up for lunch and share conversation to strengthen what they've learned in class. No matter where you go at UD you feel welcome.
My schoolis unique due to their Core Curriculum. They require all students regardless of their major to take the same Core classes based on classical thought, they take Math, Science, Language, English, History, Theology. My school is also unique for their study-abroad program. The University actually owns property in Rome, Italy on which they built a campus. This enables them to send 100 students at a time to further their education studying in Italy. Furthermore, since the University owns the campus, they are able to charge students the same price for tuition as they would on the main campus.
All of the students love it. Most other schools have at least a few groups that aren't too happy with some major issues at their campus, but every group of students at UD loves the academic load, social scene, and location of the school. It seems that everyone who goes there is truly happy and really satisfied with their decision. Also, all the students are passionate about what they're learning, but know how to kick back and have fun. Work hard; play hard.
