University of Denver Top Questions

Describe a typical weekend.

David

Due to the wide range of activities Denver has to offer, this answer can vary. For some its a frat party and some studying, for others its a trip up to someones house in vail for a weekend of skiing.

For most students, the weekend starts on Friday, as only math and science departments have classes that day, and they are only labs so any typical student will probably only ever have one or two Friday classes. MANY students go skiing, which is a good sport to enjoy from September to April, but many also hang back on campus. I am not personally a skier, so I prefer to hang out with my friends during weekends. I usually sleep in and laze around on Fridays, as most students do (especially those who had rather exciting Thursday nights). Saturdays are a great day to wake up at a respectable time and go exercise, which is a big Colorado thing. On Saturday mornings you can see many students out running, at the gym, riding their bikes around, or heading to the mountains (when it's warmer). Going up to Washington Park or Observatory park is a lot of fun. Observatory Park is a just a couple blocks from campus and is a great place to chill out, play some pick-up games or something of the sort. Wash Park is a bit more of a commute, but has a couple ponds, lots of bike trails, and lots to do for locals. It is also very easy to get to 16th street mall or Parkmeadows (including IKEA!) and many DU students can be spotted at those destinations. Sundays are usually spent on homework, although many students do go to church in the morning (there are several nearby and one that meets on campus). Sunday nights are usually quiet.
