University of Denver Top Questions

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

Meagan

DU offers a once in a life time opportunity to study abroad. The university sends students all over the world from three to twelve months at time. As a college student money is always a constant struggle, and coming out of college will leave debt that will cripple students for years. The chance to live in a different part of the world may never happen again for many of us, because of our limitations. DU provides the resources to make this impossibility a real option for students to grow in education, and in life experience.

Matthew

When I brag to my friends, I tell them that I am able to go to class in shorts in 70 degree weather, and then within an hour I can be on the slopes in a winter jacket and snowpants.

Logan

Our spectacular study abroad program. In fact, that was a major deciding factor on attending DU. The cost of studying abroad is included in tuition, so the university highly encourages students to study abroad, which I find aids in a more interesting and diverse campus experience.

Natalia

DU is one of the top schools for my major, International Studies. They are the #1 school in the US for graduates entering the Peace Corps. The campus is gorgeous. Systems, such as financial aid, registration, are well organized. My professors are all doctorates, and teaching assistants do not teach classes. Class sizes are perfect, about 25-30 each. Teachers, admin and students love DU and are happy. The athletic facility is amazing, sporting events are very fun. The new academic commons is a wonderful high-tech facility. The Pioneer Leadership Program is phenomenal and doesn't cost any more!

Sueraine

As I come from a low income/poor social economic status, I am humbled to be able to attend a school with a high prestige education status, and one of the oldest private schools in the US. I had great support within the college to help me pay to be able to attend this school, and provide me different opportunities for scholarships and loans. I never thought I would get accepted, but here I am achieving my goals and making my dreams a reality.

Kelsey

The greatest thing about The University of Denver is the amazing opportunities that it provides and the fast paced learning that takes place. There are many ways to get involved and become educated here.

Rodolfo

The University of Denver has so many things to brag about. Its beauty amazed me when I first arrived and the structures, as well as the outside common areas are stunning and magnificent. I often found myself looking beyond my campus at the surrounding Rocky Mountains and being dazed by what I saw. Inside the class rooms and staff buildings, the professors and staff were friendly and helpful which proved to be one fo the major perks about the University of Denver. The people who attend this school are also some of the friendliest people I have ever met.

Aaron

When I talk to people I tell them about the wonderful classes and professors here at the University of Denver. I recently transfered here from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA and can't see myself going to school anywhere else. The class sizes here are small and all of your teachers are aware of your presence in the classroom. I recently finished my first quarter and I was on a name to name basis with every one of my teachers, this helped me to achieve a 3.85 GPA one of my best GPA's in college so far.

Michaela

I knew I wanted to attend college in Colorado. I wanted a business school with top-quality academics and great connections with businesses and professionals. I wanted outstanding opportunities to develop my leadership abilities (the Pioneer Leadership Program is fantastic). I looked for a variety of ways to get involved on campus and smaller class sizes where professors know me. I love DU's international focus; every student can spend a semester abroad, all expenses paid, and 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students on campus are international. I brag that University of Denver is a top-quality school in Colorado.

Rikki

When I tell others about the University of Denver I talk about the opportunities they provide for students. I talk about DU's Study Abroad program, class sizes, effective teaching, and dorm life. DU offers an amazing chance for students to study abroad for the same cost of tuition. I talk about the class sizes because they are small which allows for effective teaching. I also discuss the dorm life at DU is better than others, the dorms are really nice, safe, and provide all the necessary resources for residence.

McKenzie

Probably the thing I brag most about is the quarter system, or the hockey team. DU runs on quarters rather than semester, so the fall quarter does not start until mid-September, and we get out for winter break right before Thanksgiving. Also, our winter break lasts for 6 whole weeks! Longer than most other universities. It's pretty awesome! Also our hockey team is amazing! They've won multiple national titles, and year after year they are constantly in the top 10 college hockey teams! It is so much fun to get to watch them.

Jennifer

I always brag about being on the trimester system and getting 6 weeks off for winter break when my friends are still in school. I also tell them about being next to the mountains and the beautiful weather that happens all year round. Having sunshine 300 days of the year has its benefits! I also brag about the ease of public transportation (which is provided for students!) and being only 15 minutes from downtown Denver. The culture of a big city is extremely accessible for everyone with theatre, music, and restaurants available. A little bit of something for everyone!

Federico

I brag about the availability to go to the mountains on any given weekend and being able to do all kinds of outdoor activities depending on the season. The Rockies are our backyard and we have some of the best ski resorts in the country and plenty of snow in the winter to go with it. The campus is beautiful (very green), our buildings are state-of-the-art, and most classes are kept small so there is a lot of interaction during class. The athletic facilities are fantastic and most people like to stay fit.

Amanda

How beautiful the campus is. The advantages of relatively small class sizes. The location and surrounding areas. How great our hockey team is.

Hadley

I brag that the student body is close as a whole. We bond over university activities like hockey games. We all have the same love for the school that we attend which makes it so easy to go there because you know that there are people who have the same interests as you.

Matthew

What sets the University of Denver apart is the small class sizes. I've had one 100 student class but all my other classes have been between 15-30 students.

Rachel

The University of Denver is the epitome of college when one pictures college. DU provides the best college experience and I love to tell my friends about all the actives and experiences that I have had on campus. From the coed dorms where I do my laundry, to the packed arena at hockey games, DU allows students to engage in activities and meet life long friends. I love bragging about the environment my school offers and how it has enabled me to meet wonderful people, make memories, and enjoy every day on campus.

Bryan

The class sizes, the weather, Colorado, the campus, and the mountains.

Kaila

When I brag to my friends about school the first thing I mention is the beautiful campus. The next thing that I tell them about is how the class sizes are so small that the teachers all know me by name and are willing to help me out when I have a question. The final thing I tell people about is how my school is one of the highest ranking business schools in the country. These are the three things that I tell people the most even though there are many other amazing things about my school.

Craig

The study abroad program is amazing! Here at DU, it is common for third-year students to study abroad for a semester and DU makes it easier to do so. There is an entire office dedicated to the internationalization of students and there is a scholarship program in place so that students may go abroad and only have to pay what they pay to attend DU.

Adrienne

I really enjoy small classes with well-qualified teachers. Within my major (International studies), I've met a lot of interesting people from a variety of different backgrounds. I also really enjoy my French classes (my minor). I work for the on-campus radio station, which I have enjoyed thoroughly an dlike to tell a lot of people about.

Bonnie

The quarter system, the amazing teachers, the fantastic opportunities to study abroad, the pretty campus

Angela

I love the facilities. I started going to a different Colorado college for a week at the beginning of the fall semester. I hated it there. DU is a night and day difference, especially the Daniels School of Business. In Daniels the classrooms have plenty of space. Each student has an outlet and ethernet hook-ups for their personal laptop. We sit in comfortable office chairs and have plenty of space to spread out. It is very easy to see professors and the whiteboards, and to hear what the professors are saying. I love it at DU!

Laura

I love all of the opportunities we have as students at the University of Denver. Everything you could ever ask for is available to you; whether it's studying abroad, or going snowboarding. Once you are involved at school, they pay for everythingactivity-wise. The clubs always find fuc things to do around town and cool retreats to go on, transportation included and everythng. Our cherrington study abroad program pays for almost all expenses to go anyhere you could imagine, we even get a free RTD pass if you just are looking to have a fun night in the city.

Wesley

I brag about the people, the friends I have made and the class size. Also I brag about how I will be successful because of my school.

Hannah

I love the area. The campus is beautiful. You barely know you are in the city when you step on the campus. The campus is like a little community. For students it is a home away from home. It is the perfect place to be !

Craig

Mostly, I brag to my friends about the high level of education I am receiving while attending a small university near the heart of a major American city. Between my group of friends, we all consider ourselves academics, however, a large majority of my friends decided to attend a large university where it is difficult to receive the individual attention and connections necessary between students and professors. Furthermore, I like to brag about my ability to be able to walk everywhere because of the campus small size and proximity to a major city which decreases my need to find transportation.

Josue

I brag that I am a brother of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. and that we are very active within the community.

Elizabeth

The Location! The City, next to the mountains; you can't find this environment anywhere else!

Amy

When I brag to my friends, I usually talk about the University of Denver's small class sizes, top ranked business school, and our varsity hockey team. Small class sizes are a plus at the university and help students to form bounds with their peers and professors. Our business school is regionally and nationally ranked. Finally, I brag about our hockey team, not because they are always ranked high nationally, but because of the atmosphere and bounding that happens. Every game you feel a "unity" between the students and alumni as we cheer our Pioneers to victory.

Stefanie

Often when talking to my friends about my school, I tell them about how much I love the campus and the student body. I love how the campus is so close to the mountain and the city, yet has its private and safe little campus. I also tell them how much I love all of my professors. In high school my professors were nice, but they did not teach in the same and enthusiastic way that they do here at the University of Denver. They really make me want to learn here.

Hannah

The class sizes are really small; it's nice because most professor's know you by name. I also bragged about one particular political science class I took from a former Governor of Colorado which was an absolutely amazing class.

Briana

our work out center

Emilee

One of the best things I love about my school is where it is located. You can walk everywhere, they have a great public transportation system, and for all students, you get to ride for free! Also the class sizes are extremely intimate. My biggest class so far has been a fifty student math class and plus that, you attend a lab with just fifteen. The campus is beautiful, the weather is great (300 plus days of sunshine) and who would be upset getting to look at the snow covered mountains every day?

Mara

The University of Denver is a school that is on the quarter system. In the time that it takes semester-school students to complete 32 credit hours, I will have successfully completed 48 credit hours. I also get to study abroad my junior or senior year and DU will pick up the tab for my plane ticket and visa if I maintain over a 3.0 GPA. Study abroad is such an integral part of the learning at DU and they encourage their students to be good global citizens. Also, the classes are small!

Dan

That the University of Denver is not only going to give me an education, that my life experiences and skills are an on-going part of the entire academic process. I know that I will be a participant in future education, because the University will take my personal lessons of leadership in the military and incorporate them into future teachings. And I am incredibly proud of the University of Denver in ignoring the traditional process of admission, and valuing all of my military and personal experiences in awarding me academic credit.

Erick

The strong academics, the extra-curricular activities, skiing/snowboarding

Jessica

I love how close the campus is to the city. It's great to be in your own bubble, but when you want to get away, it's only a train stop away. The people here are so great and friendly I hate leaving them for holidays.

Jillian

Its great study abroad program and opportunities

Kelsey

I brag about the rocky mountains, living in Denver (which is an amazing city), that DU has a great hockey team, and the amazing micro brews that are produced in CO.

Ben

My school is perfect in so many ways! DU offers everything that I need to have a successful education and carreer, as well as an active social life. Through DU I have grown in so many ways including my education and my personality. DU has given me the confidence to try and explore new things, to meet new people and to try my hardest at everything. I always brag to my friends about the amazing professors at my school who truely care about you as a student and person, not just a number and about all the great programs offered!
