I enjoy the University of Florida's balance between academics, social events, and sporting events. I believe that attending the university was a solid decision and I am enjoying it. In addition, I feel well prepared for life after college. The university provides students with networking opportunities, service learning, and career development.

I think the University of Florida is an exceptional school. Maybe it's me being easily pleased, but there's an incredible abundance of things to like about the college and also a great number of things to critique. No one is perfect and there's always room for improvement. Architecturally, the buildings are a mix of that classic collegiate aesthetic-- hard brick and moss crawling up the sides of choice buildings-- with modernity, like tall, multifunctional study areas paved with glass and lighter materials. Although some don't like the really hard and heavy bricks, it makes everything incredibly sturdy which is a necessity in hurricane-ridden Florida. Drainage systems are really good too so when the storms come rolling in, rain boots and a good umbrella will help you stomp through more flooded zones but high sidewalks and multiple paths make things a whole lot easier. University of Florida is also really big on consciousness efforts. Campus- and the surrounding area- is riddled with wildlife and nature. This makes for a pleasing overall aesthetic but TONS of needed shade from these massive trees when the sun is beating down. And it makes for nice outdoor areas to study! Looks aside, things are spaced out on campus. It might take a while to walk to where you want to get to, but you'll encounter restaurants, bathrooms, stops and other resources along the way. Unless you are, of course, going to the Lakes. That's a little different. There are amazing activities on campus! So many events, clubs, and organizations that it's honestly really hard for someone to keep track of them all. The arts college, although a little bit underfunded, makes the most of what it's got and there's a club dedicated for basically every major. This really helps out when you want to network or just have someone to help out when you're beginning classes. The downsides are pretty obvious. You're in North Florida, largely surrounded by woodlands. If you don't like all that nature, it's not a great scene. Gainesville itself is more town than city; the area around UF, like Butler Plaza, Archer Road, Midtown and Downtown are city-like but nothing compared to the more urban locations. Midtown and Downtown are great for bar-hopping, restaurateurs or hip kids who want to record shop, see movies, or have a really cool place to sit and study. But it can get old quickly-- it's up to you as a person to keep your experiences fresh! The events that happen around town help with that; there's always a band, a quiz night, a gallery show, a new museum exhibition, a new party to go to. Some dorms are new and amazing. Most dorms are old and... incredibly intriguing. The Murphree area is the oldest area on campus and has some of the best dorms and some of the most questionable dorm-choices. It's also really important you know where things are in location to your dorm because some housing options are INCREDIBLY far from where your classes could or could not be. Doing research, mapping out the massive property that is UF, and planning really helps when tackling this college. But the experiences are amazing, the staff is a mix of characters good AND bad but always helpful, and it's honestly really pretty here. When the stress of school starts to gut you, taking a breath and going for a walk to the library can even be a super relaxing and rewarding experience. There are so many resources on campus to help with the needs students have that it's almost daunting how ready they are to help. Does everything go perfectly? No! But the college tries its best and for that, it can't exactly be faulted in my opinion.

University of Florida is great. It's got great facilities, plenty of food choices (even for vegans), and a great transportation system. Some older buildings are being renovated and upgraded. Class sizes are getting a bit on the larger side, but professors are usually pretty good about holding office hours.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

As an animal science student at the University of Florida, it may be a bit tough to stay up-to-date with all of the activities going on around the main campus at times because the animal science building and college of veterinary medicine are located about a mile and a half from the main campus. However, this distance is only a bus ride away if you ever need to get to a class or just want to visit all the great facilities on the main campus. Additionally, this distance is a mere inconvenience outweighed by the warmth, generosity, and friendliness of everyone in the animal science department at UF - from administration and faculty to other undergraduate and graduate students. Whether you come from a family well versed in the field of agriculture and grew up raising livestock or come from a family that lived in a small apartment in the middle of a suburb, you'll never feel out of place in the animal science department and will always have ample opportunities to expand your horizons and acquire valuable experience with all kinds of livestock species.

The University of Florida is a well-balanced school that consistently ranks highly among public universities. In particular, the engineering and physics departments are well-appointed by industry experts. The University of Florida Department of Physics is a leading faculty contributor to many international projects such as LIGO and CERN, and many physics faculty personally work or do research for both organizations. Many students themselves end up collaborating and performing research as part of these international projects. UF engineering is internationally renowned; aerospace companies such as Boeing, SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon regularly recruit at UF due to the engineering program's size and strength.

The University of Florida is an experience I will never forget. I have met several loving people and have made unforgettable memories. With such a loving community I don't see why students wouldn't want the University of Florida to be the number one college to attend.

I can not express how much I love the University of Florida. I have only visited the campus twice, but it feels like home. The architecture is beautiful, and everyone has a good attitude about the college. There is a lot of school spirit, so it makes you feel like you are apart of something bigger than yourself.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

This university is the best in the state because of its post-educational opportunities and the quality of students who go here. I have met many bright people and there is never a boring day; classes here are tough. As far as professors go, I have had a pretty even mix of good and bad. Even if the instructor is bad however, you can usually find a great TA to better explain things you have trouble with. That being said, this school needs to improve its class size, I feel the school is too crowded at times, even the public transport is getting overwhelmed with the amount of students. Also a few buildings are really old looking and appear as if they have not been cleaned in a while. The staff is helpful if you discuss your problems in person, and the on-campus housing is affordable, but also needs to update facilities, especially restrooms.

The University of Florida is a great school not only for academics but also sports and a variety of other opportunities. Arts and Sports are great examples, just to name a few. This University is not exactly the easiest to get accepted into but once you meet their qualifications, you're good! A very large campus with Beautiful dorms and great utilities. The food and housing is also great. This school has a great Mathematics program perfect for somebody looking for a Math major...like me!
