University of Florida Top Questions

Tell us about the sports scene on campus.

Gabrielle

Oh we are huge sport fans. Whether sun or rain, sleet or snow, the student body will come out to these events especially football. Despite how bad of a season we may have at times, the students here have intense spirit and will no matter what. We may lose some games but we are always the best, and that is something you can not take away.

If you're a sports fan, welcome home. If you're not a sports fan, you better become one. UF loves it's sports like a fat kid loves cake. Whether it's our champion football team dominating in the SEC or our Nationally Ranked Women's Gymnastics team, we go crazy for anything athletic.

the sports scene essentially dominates the campus.the school contends nationally in all sports we have 6 championships in major sports in the past decade. Football and Basketball contend for the national championship yearly. on Campus if you are not an athlete there are very well run intramural leagues that are very competitive and arewhat you would call a "big deal"

Let's just say sometimes I think to myself "what campus? this IS a sports scene." Sports are extremely important at the University of Florida, and I'm not sure which came first. Are Gators so into sports because they're so good at it or so good at it because they are so into sports? There's nothing like the school spirit of a Gator Game whether that be baseball, gymnastics, volleyball, or any of our other great athletic programs. Should I even dare mention football? Game days are crazy. It's kind of weird and at the same time super awesome to go to sleep in your dorm and feel like you're in the middle of student town and wake up on a game day to RVs, portable grills, minivans and gator gear....everywhere....of all the loyal Gator fans who travel from near and far to descend on the excitement of a Gator Matchup. There's nothing like it. What can I say...Go Gators!

Intra-murals are huge here. They have a lot of different sports to choose from and the competition level is high. The varsity sports here are great. Students make it a priority to go to football and basketball games to get really rowdy. If you somehow hate football, you should just stay inside on Saturdays...

Sports are HUGE at our school. Everyone goes to the games or supports the team somehow. You see people everywhere in blue and orange every day. For football games, people like to tailgate hours before the game starts. Usually they buy a keg or two, and we just talk and have fun before we go in to watch the game. I love it! The school spirit is just so contagious. It's really fun. Go Gators!
