I think the University of Georgia is best known for football.
We're best known for our football team and unique downtown Athens, GO DAWGS!
There lots of positives to UGA, but it is best known for football.
My school is best known for its football team. That's not surprising, considering that it's in the Southeastern Converence.
The University of Georgia is best-known for how academically adavnced its students are. The freshman class of 2013-2014 had the highest SAT scores ever. The University of Georgia is considered a public ivy-league school becuase of the rigorous school work, classes, and challenging curriculum, however there is much reward to graduating from the University of Georgia.
The football team and its rigorous academic programs.
University of Georgia is best known for it's diversity in population, the huge selection of classes and majors. There isn't just one specialty at UGA as it is not focused on one type of field, such as engineering. The football team is nationally known and the games are well attended. The stadium, classrooms and common rooms are user friendly and modern.
Football. But the town is known for it's music scene. So UGA brings in a diverse group of people and it makes the college experience here interesting and a lot of fun. You will see frat guys and hipster's all hanging out at Jittery Joes. It's very sprecial. And no matter what your interests or major or passion, everyone knows what Saturday in Athens means, equally, everyone knows what the EcoFest film festival means. Athens and UGA are very unique.
I don't really have a favorite campus tradition. I kind of like them all. I guess some of the more popular ones are dressing up and tailgating on game days, taking pictures with all the bulldog statues around Athens, and not walking under the Arch until you graduate or you won't graduate (which is more of a superstition rather than a tradition).
Although the University of Georgia has been voted number one party school for the past two years, it is best known for producing a group of wonderful people that have such a strong bond together and to the Bulldog Nation that nothing could alter who they became after attending the prestigious University of Georgia.
“Heroes have graced the field before you, men with the hearts, bodies, and minds of which the entire bulldog nation can be justifiably proud. A tradition of unbridled excellence demonstrated by these individuals… spans more than a full century. [A new breed] assume the reigns of their Georgia forbearers & continue that tradition understanding that there is no tradition more worth of envy, no institution worthy of such loyalty, as the University of Georgia,” Larry Munson’s voice is heard saying before football games and represents what UGA is known for: football & pride. It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
It can not get better then walking to stanford stadium from your dorm decked out in red and black with your 92,000 of your closest friends.
My favorite tradition, mainly because it's the only one that I honestly do, is ringing the Chapel Bell. If you talk to any UGA student they will tell you about this tradition. It's a very common one to talk about, but it's so true to the University. Whenever a victory occurs, the Chapel Bell will be rung. This past football season when we beat Florida, the bell was literally ringing until about 3-4am. It is reminiscent of our pride and how it rings true through anything.
The football team, of course, Georgia Bulldogs.
Our school is not only known for our ourstanding academics, but our southern hospitality and welcoming personalities as well.
The school is best known for its athletic programs and many other academic clubs. The town is known for thier school spirit. Also, since the school is so big it provides many opportunities for someone to get into other clubs and organizations.
Drinking, Football, and Academics
Saturday football games are huge here. Be prepared to spend all day worshipping Georgia football.
Like most schools in the south we are most known for our athletic teams. However, we are also known for our academic programs.
It's the #1 party school in the South. There are many bars located near campus, and underage drinking is very common. It's also a major research school; it recieves millions of dollars in grant/research money every year. There is a big emphasis placed on football/athletics. Alumni donations to the athletic department are large and common. Racial/ethnic diversity is a priority.
I feel that UGA is best known for being a good school all around. I feel that each degree offered at the University of Georgia is a good degree that any employer would be happy see on a good applicants resume. Employers know that if you come from the University of Georgia you will be a good , hard worker (as long as they also see your GPA).
The Athens experience. The environment of the college town is phenomenal. The campus is beautiful, full of secret gardens, trees, fountains, and ponds. The stadium draws the sports fans and the school spirit is inspiring. Walking around downtown, from neat shops to great resturants, there are too many athens "best kept secrets" to count. The academics are rigorous but the classes are interesting and the professors are there to help. Everyone here masters the ability to engage in a plethera of fun and still be impressive academically. Surprising yourself with how you have grown; that is the Athens experience.
My University is known for almost everything. We have a great research program for Graduate students whom can also teach a undergraduate class if they are qualified. They have a great law program, art program, and music program for undergraduates. As far as sports, we have awesome nationally ranked Gymnastics, Basketball (both girls and boys), Baseball, and Softball teams. Lets not forget the football team. GOOO DAWGS! SIC 'EM!
I believe the University of Georgia is best known for being the oldest public university in the United States. We are also recognized by being located in the unique and classic city of Athens, and for the diverse and exciting athletic programs. The University is also known for their high admissions standards, rigurous acedemic calendar, and their many on and off campus extra-curicular programs.
Well, UGA does have a reputation as The Number One Party School in the US, but if you look past all the imbibing on Saturdays, you'll see that we have a liberal college with some amazing research and progressive thinking that has won UGA lots of awards and grants in hopes of continued accomplishments.
My school is best known for its athletics, but I know University of Georgia offers a wide range in academics and supports and satisfies most prospective students desires in choices of their fields of education. For example UGA students have been sent all around the world in foreign exchange / study abroad and government programs. The campus is neuatiful and extraoridinary allowing for all students to be socially networking. UGA's Meal Plan is great and the meals are great too. The campus buses and city buses are free for students and the students and staff are friendly and supportive.
My school is probably best know for its blend of academic and social opportunities. It has some of the top athletic teams in the nation and also one of the most rigorous and competitive pharmaceutical, as well as business, graduate programs offered. The University of Georgia is well respected and has many student bodies that strive to make it a better more welcoming campus to all.
food service, football, gymnastics, ecology
Being an awesome school with great sports teams and having a huge fan following: the Bulldog Nation!
Good old Georgia football. We have amazing fans, tailgating, and Saturdays at Sanford Stadium! UGA is also the first charted university in the United States.
With an SEC football team, a very diverse campus, the many acheivements recieved, and the vast group of talented students, the University of Georgia is best known for the pride the students show for thier school.
The foot ball team, as well as research.
UGA is best known for sports and reasearch. The football team and the gymnastics team are the main selling point for athletics. Also, many master's students and doctrate students come to UGA to finish their education becuase UGA is a research university.
My univeristy is full of diversity and opportunities for success. I believe almost anyone could find exactly what they are looking for here. Yes, it is a large school, but by becoming increasingly involved in whatever part of campus you are interested, it is easy to find close friends and a constantly "shrinking" university. Whether interested in art, music, only academics, social life, sports, outdoors, and so much more, anyone can find what they are looking for here at UGA
My school is best known for their athletics and their commitment to helping student financially through the HOPE scholarship. This scholarship program has set a standard in the state of Georgia that many other states are trying to replicate. My school is known for partying, but everyone here finds a way to balance social life and academics. In my opinion, my school should be recognized for its commitment to not only academics, but creating well rounded individuals.
UGA is best known for its football team.
Tradition , football, and fun. But we are a tought academic school too, people are just having too much fun to notice their hard work.
University of Georgia is best known as the home of the Dawgs. Football is very big at UGA, but other sports such as gymnastics and basketball are really fun too and everyone here has a lot of school spirit!
UGA is known for its Football, beautiful campus, and students that have a "work hard, play hard" mentality.
My school is best known for its football team. Football is a culture of UGA and Athens and everyone who comes to UGA begins to love the Dawgs. My school is also known for its high expectations and standards. I feel that my school is trying to set a high standard of excellence and all students should aim to reach that standard.
We have a very good football program. The games sell out every saturday and are broadcast on TV regularly. We are also stereotyped as a party school due to our fraternity and sorority system. Academically, we are the largest liberal arts based research institute in the state. I think we rank in the 50's among U.S. colleges academically.
Football, and crazy partying downtown constantly.
Football, drinking, academics
The Georgia Bulldog Football Team, as well as Research-we are the home base of Dr. Fischer, and many other research labs.
Football, alcohol, and then academics
drinking and football
Chelsey, a junior international business major, shares her ideas for the newest tradition at UGA; the blackout game.
The University of Georgia is best known for our amazing football team! GO DAWGS! We were ranked first in the pre-season this year and although we've dropped in the rankings we've lost only 1 game out of 7! Everyone at UGA is so spirited and excited about the Bulldogs! There's no one on our campus who isn't proud to be associated with our football team. Our mascot Uga is also well known :)
Football, academics, fraternity/sorority choices
