Athens has a really neat downtown and it's known as a music hub. It's very rich in univeristy and city culture and tradition. I was raised an Auburn fan and I didn't understand the "Bulldog Nation" until I became a part of it. You can try and resent-but I've never met a student tha didn't have pride in our school. Our campus and city is...electric.

Sammi

The University of Georgia is one of a kind. It is prestigious, it is highly respected and it holds students to a higher standard.

Abigail

UGA has been rated as one of the top twenty most economically valuable schools to attend. With the quality of education compared to the price and HOPE Scholarship, most students come out with less debt than the national average. It has a competitive honors program, SEC football team, more than eighty clubs to join, a huge greek system, and many church organizations. It is also located in the heart of Athens, which has been described as a healthy and growing scene for music, art, and cuisine. It also has the second best meal plan in the nation.

Lavette

It is well known, it is supportive and it unifies Georgia residents.

Emily

I knew I wanted to go on to get a second degree after my undergraduate at UGA. The reason I chose this school over others is because of its fantastic reputation. And because of their reputation and the quality of education I was able to receive, I got accepted to one of the top nursing programs in the country.

Timothy

When I talk to people about UGA, I love to brag about 3 things: gamedays, the food, and the amount of opportunities. The gamedays are amazing because they bring every student (plus about 70,000 fans) together for awesome fun and school spirit. Secondly, the food was voted #2 for all colleges in the nation, and it certainly lives up to that ranking. Lastly, the opportunities are unlike any other. Whatever you love or have an interest in, you will find here at UGA.

Abigail

It had my major, Advertising, which many other schools in Georgia did not provide. UGA is great for many students because is has a wide variety of majors available to study.

Ryan

UGA is a huge school that provides many opportunities to enrich anyone's life with new cultures and experiences that everyone can benifit from. With hundreds of clubs, groups, and organizations specific to many realms of culture, a student can be exposed to all sorts of people, cultures, or aspects of this world. This school also provides opportunities to enrich the community and those in need in the Athens area which is very helpful to many people everyday. While doing this students also have the ability to maintain the highest level of academic achievement.

Dakota

UGA is very football oriented. It runs the town on game days and is very prominent in Athens' and the University's economic system. It's got great venues and lots of opportunities for hearing unique music.

Nicole

The city of Athens was the main selling point for me. It is the perfect college town: old, quaint and cute.

Daniel

The town of Athens is very unique. It has great restaurants, stores, and musical venues. There is always something to do. Many great bands originated in Athens and continue to come to town. The campus is beautiful and there are opportunities for everyone. Even though the university is large, you are able to get involved in groups that make it seem much smaller. I am involved in many organizations and have diverse friendships. It's easy to find a place to belong at UGA. Although some of the classes are large, there are opportunities to get to know your professors.

Chelsea

I am an Education major, and the program here is amazing. A degree from UGA is much more valued than any of the other schools I applied to. In high school, I could never find a group of friends that I could fit into well, but I knew at UGA (because it is so big) that I would be able to find the right group. I knew I would also be able to grow in my relationship with Christ here. UGA has so much to offer, and it promotes diversity while allowing someone to cling to what they find important.

For me, the main thing that separates the University of Georgia from any other school is the pride that comes along with it. There’s a certain energy that goes along with being a Bulldog that cannot be described. The fact that I get to walk by Sanford Stadium every day reminds me of Saturdays in Athens: students dressed in red, black, and white and screaming “GO DAWGS!” during kick-offs. There’s something about being a Bulldog and the pride that comes along with it that distinguishes it from any other school.

It's hard to go wrong with UGA, which is strong academically and athletically. It has so many opportunities for it's students as far meeting others, traveling abroad, and having fun. The school is BIG but can feel very small. The dining hall food is great! The sports evoke so much spirit out of the students it's insane. The freedom to take naps on benches pretty much anywhere in the campus and not be judged. The Nigh life is great! Downtown is fun! There's plenty to do! The courses are intriguing and challenge the students. It's just an amazing school! :D

Being somewhat of a history nerd, the University of Georgia was the first charted university in the United States. It housed and taught many of the great Confederate soldiers and politicians, and even was taken over in the Civil War by the Union. The athletic program has surpassed many of the competiting universities, and has a deep history in football-so deep that a Saturday in Athens on gameday beats all others. UGA compared to other schools I considered had more history all around in founding, students, and lifestyle that it was the perfect place to go!

Miranda

The University of Georgia is the only school I applied to because it was my dream school. My senior year of high school, whenever someone would ask me where I was going to college, I always told them with pride the University of Georgia. Even now when people ask me, I can not help but to feel proud when I tell others I am a student at UGA. It is a great school because there is something there for everyone and there are always new people to meet. I would never want to go anywhere else!

Melinda

The University of Georgia is located in a welcoming and exciting town. Athens is a great place to discover new things such as great music, unique restaurants, and loads of history. The school is very large, which gives each student opportunity to explore their interests, but the school also offers many events and clubs to guide students to finding their niche. All and all, the University of Georgia is unique in the fact that it is so good at fitting a diverse populations interests, giving a very broad range of perspectives; important to a well-rounded college experience.

Jung

UGA has a great football team that makes the students here feel more proud of their school and makes them closer by chearing the georgia bull dawgs.

Ivy

It is a good mix of academic and social experiences. The quality of academics is very high, but the campus is relaxed and there are many opportunities to explore social life. Also, there are many opportunities to explore career interests.

GInger

Athens has a rich history as the oldest chartered university in the state. The layout of the campus with respect to the downtown area is awesome in that their proximity to one another integrates campus life between the two. The size of Athens is nice, as you can find anything yet you do not have to deal with metropolitan bustle.

Amanda

There is truly something for everyone here at UGA. So many clubs, sports, research, fraternities, sororities, and volunteer opportunities. There is always someone you will have something in common with. You will network with people, professors, and faculty that will help you throughout your college career and beyond. I have made so many friends while here at UGA that I will probably know for many years to come and found out what I am truly passionate about.

Jordan

Though most of the student body is there to learn, there are still lots of stupid people doing stupid things. Don't throw everything you've worked for away because of one really dumb act.

Michael

My school is really big compared to the others I considered. While I answered that it is "too big", this is true but only by a small margin for me. I like the size of my school, but a little bit smaller would be nice. Also it has a large athletic program with a huge fan base. Everybody seems to talk about the "Dawgs" all the time, whether it be in football, baseball, tennis or gymnastics.

samantha

The University of Georgia encompasses every aspect of a great college experience. It inspires its students to be motivated and hardworking, but most importantly, it creates an environment that brings its diverse student population together through their shared sense of school spirit. Located in the the south, the Unversity of Georgia embraces southern hospitality and it is evident in its beautiful campus, welcoming facilities, encouraging faculty, and warm-heated students.

sarah

The overall package of great town, fantastic sports program and diversity of programs make it the best deal in the south. I fell in love with the tradition and the atmosphere of the school and the way it prepared me for life after college.

Karimah

There is more diversity at the University of Georgia then any other school I was considering. I really liked the diversity because I want to learn from students whose culture differs from mine.

Adrienne

I would have to say our meal plan is really cool. While the dining hall is open, a student can go as much he or she wants and a student can eat as much as he or she wants.

Faye

It's the best school choice for me.

Emily

The most unique things about UGA is the overall environment. Not only do you get the most unbelievable fantastic college life setting, but you also get the Athens downtown feeling as well. The second best part about attending UGA is the ability to attend and participate in college activites either for free or at an extremely low price. This allows you to meet and interact with new fellow peers that will/can develope into life long friendships.

David

I considered several schools but the number one choice for me throughout the entire process was the University of Georgia. Living in the state of Georgia, I wanted to take advantage of the financial help that the HOPE scholarship provides to students who excel academically. The city of Athens, Georgia is a great area with a budding music scene and many unique shops. The high level of academic standards along with the social life offered in downtown Athens, it was a perfect match for what I was looking for.

Natalie

It's a community unto itself. Big beautiful campus.

Karen

The University of Georgia is located in one of the most liberal and most desirable areas of Georgia to live in. It also has a very strong biological sciences/pre-med program. The hope scholarship makes it really cheap (nearly free) to attend school here if you're a Georgia resident that has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Ashley

They have a school completely devoted to International Affairs and Politics. As well as a Pre-business and pre-journalism program. It also has a highly recognized Honors Program.

Alan

The size of the university is quite large. This allows it to offer many kinds of classes and activities that would otherwise fall to the wayside.

Sara

Compared to the other schools (private), I was able to receive the HOPE Scholarship because UGA is a public university. The athletic program also makes UGA a unique college in the state of Georgia.

Jessica

Even though there are over 35,000 students at UGA it is amazing how the school spirit seems to connect all Dawgs fans current, future and old. If you meet someone who went to UGA 20 years ago there is an immediate bond and understanding between those people.

Kristen

The University of Georgia is very school spirited and all of the students are very helpful to new students. We have tons of student organizations, so there is a place for EVERYONE to fit in. We also have small and large classes, so it fits many learning styles for different students. People are afraid of the size of UGA, but while the campus is big, it really is like a small community where everyone gets to know almost everyone. It's the most amazing place on earth.

francisco

It's not as racist.

Jami

This school is huge but it feels small. It is small town with about 35,00 students shoved in it. It really is a great place ot be

Mary

The overall ambiance and student enviorment. Athens is one of the coolest, most unique places I have ever been. It is a big place that offers a lot of oppurtunities.

Jennifer

Athens is awesome. There is plenty to do here but you still get a smaller town feel. The students also care about each other, they are some of the nicest and freindliest people.

Amy

Tuition is covered by HOPE scholarship.

Benjamin

The music and artistic scenes here are relatively strong. Though maybe not like they once were, there are plenty of opportunities to both see and participate in artistic endeavors. There are many concerts, plays, art openings, films (both popular and independant), and more to attend, and it is fairly easy to find groups of people to play music with or to act with or for in films or plays, etc.

Sukeun

The University of Georgia caught my attention, when I first visited the campus. The atmopshere was lively, and the campus was simply beautiful. While I was considering colleges, the only other colleges I vistied were Mercer University in Macon and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Mercer was beautiful, but the campus was quiet. Georgia Tech was very lively, but I was suprised by the environment it was located in because the campus was embedded into the city. UGA just won me over with the friendly people, wonderful campus, and rich history.

Matt

Athens is one of the best college towns in the country. There is so much to do downtown, with all of the music, restaurants, and bars.

Sam

Incredible town, always fun things to do, never get bored on weekends

Ashley

I didnt consider any other schools

Jay

It's able to accomodate anything that you can possibly ask for.

Amber

University of Georgia is unique to me because it feels like it's own community. Here, I feel like I'm a part of a family, whereas at other schools I considered it felt like just another school.
