That they are stuck up frat boys who only care about themselves. That they are rude and ridiculous in public places. That they treat women like shit and are the ultimate alpha males. That they dress up in expensive clothes or are in the weight room hours upon hours a day. All they care about is they have as much sex as possible with as many girls as possible. Finally, that all they do is get drunk and skip classes.

I think people who are from out of state or are from Illinois and end up going out of state think U. of I students are just kids who couldn't go anywhere else. Like I didn't get in NYU and had to resort to in-state. I also think many people simply see Illinois as a college that is known for its engineers alone. And of course being a big party school

A lot of people think that the campus is overrun by either engineers or farmers. Also that we live in a cornfield.

Well I wouldn't say that there is steretypes on Illinois students in general, more like stereotypes on "minorities." Things such as "Tacos & Tequlila" are occurring on campus. Many of Illinois' ethnic orgs go unnoticed on campus as well. We have houses such as La Casa, but I feel as though we have it just so that the school can say "we gave them something."

Lane

Their are many stereotypes such as everyone who goes to U of I is racist cause of the chief controversy and that all of the campus is hardcore drinkers and partiers.

Illinois uses many TA's and it's very true, but this does not take away from the UIUC learning experience. One must learn to think like a scientist in the Biology field, not blantanly knowing and memorizing equations and mechanisms. The TA's really know their stuff about their subject matter, while the professor's lecture surrounds the key materials. Meanwhile, the University also offers limitless student organizations, greek communities, or any outside affiliations to further enhance the college experience.

Kelly

White, rich kids.

Kevin

In general the stereotype that I hear most from incoming students is that U of I is split between the greeks and athletes in champaign and the art majors and more eclectic groups in Urbana.

Emily

Some stereotypes I've heard are that U of I students think they're better than others because U of I is beginning to have more of a prestigious reputation. I feel that U of I students don't necessarily think they're better than others we are just proud to say that we go to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The sports atomosphere is great, too. Even if our team isnt that great, the Illini Nation still stands strong and supports all athletics in any circumstance.

Stevie

Big Ten party school, huge Greek life, generally intelligent people for a midwest public school, decent athletics

Christa

A party school at times, however, engineering students are often labeled as "nerds" or often generalized to be Asians.

Kathleen

Supposedly everyone in Illinois is from a farm. While many are and all you see are cornfields, the majority of students have never even been to a real farm. That's just fine because we em

Illinois students are intelligent and studious but still manage to party hard most days of the week.
