Also, I would describe my classmates as people that are dedicated to the learning environment, and desire to learn and expand their ways of thinking as much as possible. A great deal can be learned from this mindset, and it is a motivational factor to expand one's own way of thinking.

Chelsea

Most of my classmates are hardworking, determined young people. Of course there are a few that are able to succeed in courses without working themselves into the ground, but that's to be expected. Most of the people I have met through my courses are willing to work hard to achieve good grades, they are all working towards their futures, and push themselves each and every day.

Rae

The students I go to class with are all (or mostly all) very apt to learn and pay attention and respect the professor. Most are also very friendly, offering help if asked. Some even go to the trouble of emailing everyone one in the class to help distribute notes to those who need or schedule study groups for upcoming exams. I find it easy to interact in classrooms with students at the University of Kansas.

akosua

Different groups of people act the same inside of their grups. Easy to ID different kinds of people.

Stephen

My classmates during my undergraduate study were a mixed group. There were many people that only went to college because it was expected of them - they were the individuals who put the most emphasis on partying and social life. Then there were the opposite bunch who were in college to better themselves professionally and preparing themselves for the working world. Then there were the group who balanced the two - I was a part of this group. The most successful students are ones who can take school seriously but still have fun while attending.

Laura

Free-thinking and fun-loving Jayhawks.

Jacqueline

They are kind of lazy and look for the easy way out, but this describes the typical college student, not just KU students. The honors classes tend to have much more interesting discussions during class just because students are more engaged and willing to listen. Overall, though, students at KU are very friendly and fun-loving, and always make for an interesting conversation.

Evan

I feel like racial, religious, LGBT, and other groups on campus band together to support each other. There are lots of groups people can join that would pertain to their interests and it's a way of fitting in and feeling accepted somewhere. I don't know that any student would really feel out of place at KU, I feel like the student body is a very diverse student body and most everyone can find a place to fit in at. Most students wear comfortable clothing like t-shirts and jeans or sweatpants and others dress up and accessorize.

Xavier

I have honestly never experienced any racial tension on campus but that doesn't mean its non-existent. At certain bars you can tell when some of the snobby students don't think you belong there but it hasn't ruined my experience in college one bit. There are so many different groups of students on campus I would find it hard to believe that somebody couldn't find a place to feel comfortable in. As long as you don't like Missouri you'll fit right in. There is a big rivalry between our schools which is fueled by a predominantly Kansas populated student body. Others come from all over; usually from Chicago, Minnesota, California, Texas, Nebraska and St. Louis. As far as campus apparel I have seen so many different outfits it would be impossible to list them all. When I am getting ready for class I grab a pair of athletic shorts, KU t-shirt and my flops or Air Force's and head to class ready to learn! I don't judge by clothing because everyone is different and has a different style, that's why we are so diverse in personalities.

Andy

The only type of student who could feel out of place is somebody who is not very sociable. Increasing numbers of students come from the greater Kansas City area & Midwest though there is a wide variety of international students. Most prevalent background on campus are middle-upper class white.

Alyssa

My classmates are very friendly and helpful.

Danielle

They are friendly people, looking to leave with more than they came in with.

Audrey

My classmates are dedicated to their subject matter. I feel like they are more dedicated in general because they are engineers and therefore are more challenged in the classroom. We study hard in groups and find ways to spend time letting off steam after we finish our work. I think all of my classmates will be likely to find great jobs after college.

Travis

My classmates are amazing and I have several of them in most of my classes that are related to my major which makes it easier for me to connect with them and make long lasting connections.
