University of Louisiana at Monroe Top Questions

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

Mimi

I'm not sure that one can actually say that the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) has an actual stereotype from an outside point of view. If I had to give one though, I would say the smart kids or more relevant the pharmacy students. ULM is well known for it's pharmacy program and the College of Pharmacy; many students come here to major in pharmacy. I think the stereotype is accurate to a certain extent, however, ULM is a very well rounded school with I diverse group of people. ULM offers many different majors, sports, and organizations available for incoming students to join. So despite what any stereotypes may be, it is a friendly campus with many great things to offer.

The stereotype of students ULM would be the typical small town student who wants to stay close to home. Or the student left a bigger college and had to come back home.

Emily

There's not really a stereotype at ULM. We have jocks, geeks, everyone. Since we're in the South, people here are really nice and don't judge you because of the group you're in.

I believe the common stereotype at my school is fraternity and sorority people. I notice a lot of other groups on campus also. We are a very diverse campus. The frat/sorority groups are very predominant though. It seems to be an important thing on this campus to be Greek.

The stereotypes at ULM is that everyone is fresh out of high school, but not everyone is. I was very nervous to go to ULM because I thought, like many other prospective student that I wasn't going to fit in because everyone would be so much younger than me. While there are a lot of students that come straight from high school, not everyone does. There is a good percent of non-traditional student that attend this University also.

Lacy

This is a smaller school with many locals. You get to know everyone!

I would say that the stereotypes at my college would be the "Very Involved Sorority/Fraternity" guy or girl would be the most common. We have a lot of sororities and fraternities and a majority of our students are involved in something. But really most people are just interested in being involved and not about having parties and being the typical college sorority/fraternity students.
