The two things people complain the most (and I'm guilty as well) is the parking and the cold. I'm from Northern Maine so cold isn't a new concept but my friends from Mass and other states have a whole new definition of cold. I'm still in a sweatshirt when it's 30 degrees. The other complaint is the parking. Definitely it is the worst in the winter with all of the blizzards because there is no place but the parking lot to pile up the snow so there is limited space.

The two major complaints at UMaine are the weather and the food. The weather is of course very cold up here for a few months during the year. I personally don't find it a big deal because the campus is tightly fit together and the walk between classes is never that long... usually 10 minutes max. The food is complained about because the cafeterias serve for thousands of people. It is not horrible, but it certainly is not like a home cooked meal. Overall, I do not mind the on campus food.

The complaint that is most heard around campus is the fact that when winter hits, it really hits!! In Maine we get a lot of snow and the cold weather can seem even worse on the very windy campus! You have to really bundle up to stay warm when walking from class to class!

Even though most of the students have come from Maine, when the winter comes, most of the chit-chat and everyday conversations revolve around the weather. How cold it is, how much snow we have or haven't gotten, but mostly asking ourselves why we live in Maine. Then we get a snow day, and everything is forgiven =]!
