Overall, the University of Maryland is very inclusive and diverse. I have felt an instant connection to the school and made lifelong friends. The school itself is beautiful, there are lots of green space and colonial buildings that make up the campus.

I honestly enjoy attending the University of Maryland- College Park! It has provided me with plenty of opportunities both in the classroom and outside. I have been able to meet people I never imagined I would meet, experience many things I wouldn't have had the chance to at other schools, and feel satisfied with my life as a whole.

The University of Maryland is a great school that accept all types of people, no matter what you are interested in. There is such an array of activities and organizations that people can join, so no one is left out. The University of Maryland prepares their students for the real world and a career. There are many networking and self-building events that can help all majors get their name out there and talk with employers. The University of Maryland is a great school that anyone can fit into and have a great fun and academic time.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The on-campus housing is awful. Some halls don't even have A/C; my room baked like an oven, day and night, for a week in 90-95 degree weather. Canteen food is pretty bland, some interesting stuff occasionally. More concerning are the multiple times which I have pulled pieces of plastic out of my food. In addition, the canteen keeps weird hours (7am-12am M-Th; 7am-10pm F; 10am-10pm Sat; 10am-12am Sun). The professors are pretty good in the Humanities departments, so there's that. The whole campus (Leonardtown in particular) has a huge drug problem. In addition, Leonardtown also has semi-regular burglaries, muggings and other such crime. Mental health services are useless. Months long waiting period and inadequate care. Huge student athlete population; never does well in any sports, but the whole campus is obsessed with it. It's close to D.C. (15 minute metro ride), which is nice. Gym and other sports facilities are pretty reliably always packed full of people; but otherwise, well equipped/staffed. Lots of green spaces, too few trees. Administrative staff are incredibly slow and at times unreliable. The range of political views on campus is pretty limited - the majority of students identify as "leftist" but know very little about leftism. The Smith school of business is full of Trump voters. Large library. Nice sized campus, doesn't take more than 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. Nice diversity in the student population; large-ish Jewish community. No-smoking campus (despite this, the aforementioned drug problem is still out of control in Leonardtown). Wi-fi everywhere on campus; this said, the Wi-fi is hilariously unreliable. Poor parking availability. DOTS hands out parking tickets like candy. Campus bus is free for students.

Great for any type of student; there is something for everyone. Beautiful, large campus. The size of classes range; I have been in a class of over 200 and another class of only 3. Most are somewhere in between, with the larger classes usually being the introductory levels. Most classes provide a challenge for the students without being impossible. There are food options for any cuisine you like and any diet you may be on, and it tastes good. Most of the dorms are comfortable, but on-campus housing is only guaranteed for underclassmen. Whatever interest you have, there is a club for it--and if not, it is easy to charter a club yourself. Every now and then, there are incidents of crime at the school, but I usually felt safe: there's a blue light system and there is always safety in numbers. Be vigilant and you will be okay. Overall an awesome school and I'm proud to be an alumna!

I really enjoy UMD-CP compared to other institutions I've attended. The resources and facilities available to students have been great. Though the campus and population are quite large, there is always a sense of community to be found and I've never felt alone or out of place as a new student. People are very friendly and there are many opportunities to socialize and meet people. UMD is in a great location with lots of restaurants, stores, and transportation. It's proximity to Washington, DC also makes for an enriching experience.

It is a great in state school that I would encourage anyone to apply. The have wonderful learning for students wanting to enter business and engineering. The student life is fervent compared to other schools I have visited. Everyone is passionate with their learning and extracurricular activities within the community.

UMD has a lot to offer but is such a big school and can be overwhelming/hard to meet people and find where you belong. There's a lot that can be done to improve academics here especially in the math and chemistry department. There's also quite some racial tension here, and some of the facilities are a little old. It's a pretty campus with a lot to do and awesome opportunities but still a lot of work that can be done, especially housing. So much money here goes to sports when it could go to other things.

Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College Park is my home- there are endless opportunities and finding likeminded people is so easy. Access to so many amenities as well an safe late night transportation is always available. Not to mention the campus is so beautiful- watching the sunrise on mckeldin mall after studying all night are the days I love for.
