How important it could be to form stronger relationships with professors.

Accept that you're going to take 8am classes if the number of credits you have determines when you can sign up for classes (which it does at UM). As much as it sucks I wish I hadn't stressed so much about getting into a later class during registration times just to end up in an 8am class anyways.

It moves quickly, take every advantage you get.

You need a car to do anything or get anywhere. Have a designer bag for classes if your a girl.

I knew pretty much everything before coming into Miami to be completely honest. I wish i knew more about the school of education before i got accepted but nonetheless, you learn while school goes on. Its absolutely amazing

I wish I would have know the requirements for my major better. I also wish I would have known how to get more involved in school activities before the end of the first semester. You need to be well accquainted with your school of choice and have a plan of action before you get there. College is such culture shock and can be hard even for the most well-rounded students to adjust.

How hard the classes are - you learn in class but it's your responsibility to actually teach yourself and learn the required material, unlike high school.

I wish I had brought my longboard or bicycle to get around to classes faster and easier. I wish I had known the difference in freshman residential colleges....Hecht is for the party guys and girls and the kids who seem more intent on coming here for the college life and not for the academics. Stanford is generally more for the music students, high academic kids, and generally a less blonde, short dress crowd.

I wish I knew that there were so many scholarships accessible to financially struggling students like me before I came to this university. With that knowledge, I could have possibly applied and obtained more scholarships and saved the funds that I spent on my first semester tuition.

What I wanted to do with my life

I wish I knew how distracting living in dorms can be. I did not come from a neighborhood with many kids my age, so I was unaware of how many things people get together and do instead of study. I wish i formed a habit of going to the library or another quiet place away from home to study. This would have prepared me to distance myself from the distractions for my own good.

I wish I had known that introductory science courses tend to focus on small details (depending on one's professor). I also wish I had known that there was no reason to be nervous, because The University of Miami's students are fun, happy, helpful, friendly, amazing students. I was able to easily make friends and instantly felt at-home on campus.

Before coming to this school I wish I had known about all the majors offered here more indepthly. I wasted a lot of time and credits searching for a major that I felt was right for me.

I wish I would have known how much free time I would have. I would also like to have known more about the student body at the school. Had I known that I would have had more free time I would have applied for a job and thought of ways to utilize my time well. I wish I knew not to procrastinate even though I had mass amounts of free time. Had I known the student body were not as focused on academics as I had imagined, I probably would have gone to a more challenging school.

I wish that I would have known to take as many advanced practice courses as possible (AP classes) while in high school. This would have helped in the heavy load required once enrolled in college. Getting some credits out of the way prior to entering college would have allowed for more focused study time, geared twoards those difficult classes required by the university.

I had no expectation for this school when I entered. At first I attained the school that was closes to me and my family and now I am glad that the choice was right even if I did not have any expectations. I had wish for nothing more than to excel and that is what I am doing at this school for all the resources it provides me.

Financial aid is hard. Books are expensive.

The cost. I need an immense amount of money to complete my degree, and knowing this in advance would have allowed me to make more money before coming to college and saved me from taking out as many loans as I now have to.

I wish that I had known just how much fun I would have. I have to force myself to study instead of hanging out with friends or going to parties. While that is the social scene, its only acceptable to be seen there if you are doing okay academically.

I wish I had known that this school is seemingly large, but when you come into classes the school becomes a smaller unit, where you often see friends from other courses and would be able to develop friendships with those students and new ones every semester.

I wish I had known how to manage my time better. But that's really something you can learn only with experience, and it's a lesson I've definitely learned in my first year.

I wish I had known how to manage my time better and had established better studying skills. As a college student, your time is your most valuable asset, so learn to use it as efficiently as possible. Do things on a schedule. Also, get use to studying. Like most high school scholars, I didn't study much in high school, but at the university level, its a whole nother ball game. So learn to study consistently and manage your time.

That it is a lot smaller than you think. It isn't Florida state or University of Florida. It is a nice, medium sized college with around 9,000 students.

I wish I had known the exact major, minor, and courses I wanted to take. I wish I had known how valuable resources the facilities on campus are, such as library, the gym, and the music school. I wish I had known the importance of clubs and amount of leadership opportunities they provide. I wish I had known how much fun fraternities could be and how important mine would become to me, but I also wish I had made a more thorough evaluation of all of them before choosing. I wish I had known how to study more efficiently.

That a lot of the professors are foreign and hard to understand at times.

It only gets harder so don't think there is any time for breaks.

Engineering would have been much easier to enter had I gone to a more academically rigorous high school and taken more AP classes. Architecture is a complete time leech, but wonderful.

There is not much of a local scene for songwriters.

That most of the people here just want to get drunk and high and party in their spare time. I also with I would have known that this school is mostly for and caters to spoiled rich brats. And for the most part, the school staff seems to have no idea what's going on or how to help you. I can go to five different people with a question and get five different answers, and they'll all be wrong anyway. I've never felt cared about here either.

I wish I had known that I was going to end up changing majors anyway. Then I would've gone to a school based on academics, rather than based on music.

I wish I would have known how rigorous some of the programs are, while the others are practically meaningless. Also, this school prides itself for racial diversity, which is very true; however, while racially diverse, true diversity does not exist at this school. As stated previously only two types of people exist.

I wish i had known how academically excelent the University of Miami is. I didnt know the University of Miami was a highly respected school and that the academics and atheletics were amongst the best of colleges and universities in the United States.

I wish I knew how much I'd miss it and do my best to stretch my degree out for 5, 6 or 7 years. =)
