What's unique about your campus?

Kara

The community that can be built within any organization, discipline, or small group is one of the best things about the University of Minnesota. So many of the students want to be here and learn that it is very easy to find friendships throughout the school. Organizations are eager to adopt new members and welcome them into their unique atmosphere. Each group has their own culture to share with students and the students that take part in that culture are changed for life.

Sam

The openness and involvement of all students.

Rebecca

The best thing about my school is its ability to come together as a community.

Katherine

The size of my school allows for social opportunities as well as facilities to help advance student's educations. The size allows for a great deal of funding for a great deal of clubs and organizations that satisfy students cultural, spiritual, or athletic needs. Also, because the University is so large there's always somewhere to study like the many libraries or little cafes around campus. The size also allows for a lot of school spirit when it comes to varsity sports such as hockey, basketball, football, wrestling, etc. The size allows for satisfactory educations and social lives.

Harold

Fun, diverse, big, and yet small. Lots of diversity. Focus toward student sucess.

The atmosphere because it feels like a college campus but we're very close to a city with tons of opportunities for careers and entertainment.

The offering of programs and the strong alumni ties. Especially in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, there was a great feeling of community. The professors really cared, and still do care, about what each of their students have been doing.

Karlie

I think the best thing about the University of Minnesota is it's diversity. There are several majors and minors that can accompany any person looking for further education. In addition, there are an endless number of activities, social clubs, sports, and study groups that can make the experience at the U the best it can be. This University allows for interaction with people from different countries and cultures making it a truly unique experience!

Alexander

The culture. All students that attend here can find something that they can be involved in and enjoy. The many diverse cultures represented on this campus make it a unique place.

Ricky

The amount of people and the general diversity amongst the student body. There is so much to see and do here. I can say, along with many other students, that the U of M is amazing.

Raquel

Eventhough the number of students at the U of M is the 2nd highest in the country, you never go a day without seeing at least 10 people you know. I was concerned about that going to such a huge school but it was not an issue at all. In fact, the diversity and large student population made my experience at the U of M that much more enriching and I never felt like just one of 60,000 but felt my role was important at the university.

Chanel

The fact that it is located in the city of Minneapolis. It is such a diverse, artistic, beautiful city. Going to the University of Minnesota gives you the opportunities that come from a large city like having an internship and growing as a person. but in a very nice, kind, clean place. Minneapolis is why I chose the school.

Heather

Lots of oppurtunities.

Abbie

I love that it is located in Minneapolis and that the professors frequently use the resources the cities have to offer--we often have guest lecturers who hold top positions at corporations like Target, Cargill, and 3M--the Twin Cities has a lot to offer, and the school takes advantage of that.

Steph

There's everything going on: you can make the school as big or small as you want it. Downtown is less than a mile away, uptown is very close by, campus is big enough to provide everything you would need. You can also make the experience how you want it: join a fraternity or sorority, join clubs, or just hang out.

Whitney

It is a big school that allows students grow into their own person. Also, it provides endless oppurtunities for learning and self--discovery.

Ian

It's location. The campus is spread out and it intermingles with the Twin Cities.

Zachary

I like that it is a large university and gives you a lot of opportunities to try different things. There is always something to do and always someone around to do something with. As a freshmen, it was mandatory to live in the dorm, and that's where it becomes possible to meet many people who could easily become life-long friends. Just leave your door open and be ready to meet new people. You may not like ALL of them, but you very likely will meet ones who could end up as housemates later. As well as good friends.

Chris

Lots of activities on weekend

Ryan

I think the best thing about the U is that it is so diverse. There is something for everyone. Whatever your interests are, there is at least one club or event or movement for you to get involved in. It would be very hard for someone to feel out of place there.

Tyler

The Navigators - a Christian organization that is helping me find my place and make a difference at the University of Minnesota.
