University of Montevallo Top Questions

Personally, the location is the worst thing about my school, it's in a small town and it can be a long commute from major cities.

I do not have many complaints about the University of Montevallo. The only complaint that comes to mind is the cafeteria food, but there are many other food joints on campus to choose from. The cafeteria food is what you would expect. However, the food is not horrible, but it is not as good as the food you would get at home.

Smaller classes for th Education classes as well as lower the tutition or have more scholarships available.

I have not found a bad thing about University of Montevallo yet!

The University of Montevallo is a wonderful campus and does not have many downfalls. However, deciding which of the many classes to take is probably the worst part. There are a variety of classes for the students intended major and a variety of classes that allow students to become well-rounded in their college career. Also, all of the professors at the University are all extremely qualified and make learning so much fun. Deciding who your favorite teacher is extremely difficult. Finding time to take all of the classes you are interested in can prove to be a task.

The worse thing about my school would have to be the constant construction as stated above. I actually do not like the fact that a lot of study requirements are on line now a days. This affects many students greatly including myself because there are times when there are many technical issues happening which does not allow you to properly succeed in a particular class.

The brick roads are a tradition at the University of Montevallo. However, the bricks are uneven causing you to be extremely careful and aware of the ground beneath you as you walk. Also, it is very complicated to drive around campus, because there are a lot of one-way roads that will take you in a circle if you don't know the campus well.

Montevallo is a wonderful university. The one thing that I have really do not like is that the gym closes at 8. I would like it to stay open longer. Other than that montevallo is in my opinion the best university and I'm glad i chose to go there.

To be honest, the worst thing about attending the University of Montevallo is an area common within all univerties and that is the cost of attending. Granted, I do feel that I recieve a lot more than I pay for but there is still this lingering fear that I will not be able to finish my schooling because I cannot afford to go. I know that is a a fear many college students live with, but I also know that many have overcome it. The road may be rough but it is not impossible.

The worst thing about the University of Montevallo is that there are not many financial aid options. While the cost of attending is low for a public univeristy, some students, like myself, have trouble attending despite financial aid and scholarships.

The worst thing about my school is that sometimes credits don't transfer. I know a student who took many AP classes, only to find out that they were for nothing more than good practice. I believe that any student that participated in those types of classes should get the credit they deserve.

The worst thing about my schools is the lack of businesses in the erea.

The worst thing about the University of Montevallo would have to be the parking. The parking is far away from the buildings and there simply are just not enough spaces for all of the students. I know it seems silly, but that is honestly the only negative comment I can make about the University of Montevallo. I absolutely love being a student here!

The worst thing about The University of Montevallo is that there is not adequate parking for students. It is a commuter school, and parking is very limited.

Sometimes the people can get a bit offensive, but if you don't get too opinionated too loudly most people here survive rather well.

I can not honestly find a worst thing about my college. If i was forced to chose something it would be how expensive it is to attend, but not even that can make me hate or dislike my college.

The cafe food isn't the best food, but a meal plan does help!

The worst thing about The University of Montevallo is sports is not a big a focus. If you are looking for a university with a strong athletic focus, this is not your school.

I love my school! The worst thing about it is the beautiful cobblestone walkways. They are pretty to look at, but they make you trip constantly!

not a lot of activities on the weekends

I would like to have more dining options at Montevallo. While the caf and World of Wings provide many different choices, it does eventually get boring with the "usual" options being confined to what they are. For example, I would love to have the opportunity to eat at an on-campus restaurant similar to a bakery, bistro, or deli, instead of only fried chicken and cafeteria food.

The worst thing about Montevallo is the size. Montevallo is very small which limits the students there to not be exposed to as many people and have the opportunity to make new relationships with a diverse group of people.

While Montevallo is a stellar college, the worst thing about it is the gender ratio--girls outnumber boys three to one. This means that girls like me may have to outsource to other colleges for dating material. However, since I'm not here for my MRS degree, this is not a deterrent.

There is not really anything wrong with Montevallo, but I would have to say that the bricks when it rains are so slippery and you trip on them all of the time. Montevallo is a liberal college and the worst thing about this is that even though I am going to be a Chemistry major I still have to take other classes such as theatre and music even though they have nothing to do with my major. That would be the worst thing to me about Montevallo.

The worst thing about my school is probably the cobblestone roads. Montevallo is an old school and the roads reflect that. Though they are a beautiful tribute to the past, they can be rather dangerous. If you're not paying attention or you're wearing high heels, you'll very likely fall on the cobblestone. The school recently did some work to replace missing bricks, but the roads are still un-even and dangerous.

The food sources. There are only two main options for food on Campus and they are owned by the same people. The food quality and variety this company offers is very lacking.

Too small. The size if Montevallo is smaller than some high schools. Also - since most students are near-by residents, they tend to go home over the weekends. For those of us from out of state, it's too quiet on the weekends.

The only bad thing I could possibly say about Montevallo is that the parking on campus is not always the best, but that in turn incites students to walk more which keeps them healithier.

The level of genuine interest and compassion is the biggest disappointment this school offers; there’s an inability to effectively and consistently communicate with most individuals in an honest and empathetic way. It seems to me that this place is more or less a factory than a school; cold and mechanical. Also a vibrant amount of aimless and hyper-self-aware students, most of which drink and do drugs. The median attitude is desolation, gloom, or stress and resentment.

Personally, I hate the parking availability and regulations. There are specifically colored parking spots to differentiate between commuters, residentials, and teachers. Each student gets a parking decal which costs 25 dollars. If you don't park in the "allowed" spot for your colored decal you get another charge of 25 dollars. There are way too many teacher parking spots and they get all the good ones. I think since I'm paying to go here I should at least have the chance to get a good spot now and then.

The worst thing about the University of Montevallo is the lack of social interaction, such as sports teams. This school is the only public liberal arts school in the state of Alabama, which the adminstration tends to lean on more. Being a business major I feel like the school does not really care about my departments, and places all their focus on the arts.

I hate how all the smokers gather around the door lkie there isn't antwhere else for them to stand. There are suposedly rules about that but theyt are not enforced. I hate getting that daily dose of secondhand smoke!

I think the worst thing about the school is its location. I love the small town feel, but a lot of students don't like having to drive out of town to go to a nice restaurant, a movie, or to a bar or a club. We have some things in town, but the "happening places" are mostly in the Birmingham area.

The worst thing about Montevallo is that it is dead on the weekends. Most students go home to visit with family and friends. It makes it harder to plan activities on the weekends, but those who do stay have a great time!

I cant find any bad things to say about UM. It is a great school and I would recommend anyone to come here.
