Tell us about the food and dining options.

The only time I ate at la posada was during lobo orientation. And it was terrible. My friends that live in the dorms don’t go either. Thankfully there are many dinning options that are just a walk away from UNM, or one can go eat at the SUB. The frontier is right across the street from UNM, and is often frequented by UNM students. The food is good, and the price is great. It is easy to get food on or off campus, so you always have a lot of choices .

For those that live on campus, there is a cafeteria specifically for those that live in the dorms. There is a good selection of foods from burgers to pizza to Chinese. The food isn't spectacular but it isn't bad either. There is also a food court that anyone can eat at which includes Sonic, Chick-Fil-A, Satellite Cafe. There are plenty of choices when one is hungry.

The dining options at UNM aren’t great. La Posada (but people call it “La Po”) is the main dining hall on campus; however, it’s not that good. Consistency is a big problem when it comes to eating at the dining hall. In the morning the food will be really good but for dinner be really bad. The variety for food isn’t that great. The food stations for breakfast, fast food, sandwiches, Mexican and vegetables are very predictable. The other options for people who live on campus are dining points for the SUB (Student Union Building) with come with the meal plan you pay for at the beginning of each semester. There is a Saggio’s, Sonic, a deli and a café place called Satellite. I actually used up a lot of my dinning points of $350 at the SUB since I really hate going to La Posada. You use your Lobo ID to pay. If you decide to live on campus, all dorms have kitchen and rental cookware if you like to cook.
