I wish i would have known the big difference between college life and high school life. In High School all i had to do was pay attention and i was able to learn everything needed for the class. with college you have a lot of independent study to conduct to prepare yourself for class. I wish i would have done a lot more preparing for class by reading before going into class.when going to class it is hard to learn when having complex concepts explained for the first time compared to knowing a little and having teacher explain.

I don't know how to answer that.

I wish that I would have known how much my classes were going to cost me, since my financial aid is only covering a certain amount, I have to come out of pocket with money in order to go to school, pay for housing, and also to pay for my books.

It isn't as scary as all the teacher make it, but it is hard. There is a lot of studying involved.

I wish I had known every club there was to join. I found myself very clueless when it came to trying to find a club that fit with my academic goals, and I happened to hear about my current one because of a friend who was already in it. I see clubs almost every day that I've never heard of that have been here for at least 4 years (as they say), and I believe that a guide listing the known available organizations would be greatly useful to a new student.

I wish i had known that this school would be most accurately described as a commuter school.

I wish I would've known that the art department was losing so much money due to the government's decision to cut educational funding. Being an art major, that information might've led me to either choose a different majo or different school entirely.

I wish I knew how to manage my time better. I wish I knew exactly what it is I wanted to do. I had to switch my major twice before realizing I wanted to be a film major.

That there is almost no support for students who aren't from New Orleans. There is no place to hang out on campus after dark or on weekends. The area around the campus was badly damaged when the levees failed post-Katrina. UNO's lakefront campus is surrounded by blighted houses and abandoned businesses. Slowly ,economic activity around here is picking up, but it'll be 10 years before it recovers. In short, there is almost nothing to do but drink. Also, UNO is NOT WELL FUNDED by the LSU system. Damaged campus repairing itself very slowly.
