University of North Carolina at Greensboro Top Questions

Describe the students at your school.

Morgan

My classmates are helpful and engaged.

Susan

My classmates are mostly young and full of idealistic hope. Some are vulnerable in that they are fresh out of high school, and have left their familiar nest for a big step out into the community. They have not yet faced the perils of the world on their own. This makes them unsure of themselves, but also naive about what challenges may lie ahead as they learn to stand on their own. They are fun-loving, peer oriented, and explorative of their interests and goals. Some work, some are talkative, some find their niches and never further venture.

Mary

My classmates are generally uninterested in concerning themselves with schoolwork or class participation.

Alexandra

My classmates are very well driven to excel within their majors.

Mary

A majority of them work very hard, but can get overstressed and do poorly on exams.

Brian

I take all of my classes online, so I don't get to interact much with my fellow students.

Ashley

We are the most diverse campus in the UNC-System. This is something that I think puts UNCG in a good light. We have a variety of cultures and lifestyles represented on our campus. I think this makes our campus even more fun and even more interactive. You have the opportunity of meeting so many different people which can challenge you and can also make you see things through a different pair of lenses.

Markisha

There are so many different races at UNCG Blacks, Whites, Mexicans, Asians, etc. No one can possibly feel out of place with such a great group of people. Students wear all kinds of clothing to class such as pj's, gym clothes, sweatpants, dress clothes, or anything that flows with their sense of style. The students are just great and very friendly. Many are not judgmental and could careless about the weird or unusual things othesr do that may even set a trendy topic.

Adrian

UNC-Greensboro is known for having a significant LGBT population, though it's not obvious at first glance. You probably won't find an Occupy protest brewing here but it politically is liberal-leaning. Students usually don't focus on the job-market, instead preferring to switch majors a couple of times before finding their niche. Most students wear ordinary jeans and a t-shirt or sweats to class. A couple of students will wear pajamas sometimes, but this is usually in one particular building and isn't a widespread thing. A hardcore football fan would probably feel a little left out since there is no football program (with no intentions on getting on in the foreseeable future). There aren't any heated battles between the student orgs, but mostly because students rarely get involved with stuff like that.

Marina

.The students here at UNCG are so diverse! UNCG has beenk known to quite a diverse school and with knowing that and so many people going here you would think that everyone is just wanting ot meet new people right? And that is exactly the case. Everyone is so nice and willing to help one another even if they know you or not. This is a very friendly school and I don't think i can stress that enough. People wear everything from funky club clothers to sweat pants and a sweat shirt to a dress, it's a different view every day.

Daniel

Overall the students at the school are very excepting of different cultures and ethnicities. Are school is pretty racially diverse so everyone really gets along and works well with each other. Most of the students are originally from North Carolina, about 3 hours or less from the school. The financial backgrounds of most of the students are mostly middle class to upper middle class. A lot of students talk about the goals the will achieve and money they will make with the degree they earn. Most students wear casual street clothes to class, this makes the feeling of the classes very relaxed and comfortable.

David

Students at the university are typically liberal but that is pretty much standard. From my experiences, students interact with who they meet in their own classes. This could be because I live 5 miles from the campus itself, but I don't see many students socializing outside of their own established comfort zone.

Mauni

Everyone at UNCG seems very enthusiastic and excited, at the worst, kept to themselves. Everyone I have met including students and faculty have friendly attitudes. There is also wide variety of social groups and clubs in which to meet people who have similar interests as yourself.

No student would feel out of place here. There is literally people of all kinds here. I have had experiences with most groups here and I have had no issues with any of them. In large part, different types of student do not interact outside of class, which I see as normal. Most of the students here are from NC but they are from everywhere within the state, and the people who are not from NC are from anywhere you can imagine, from all states and many different countries. The four tables in the dining hall: one has a group of young black students, one has all whites, one has all girls of different races, and one has a mix of internationals.

Students here at UNCG are very diverse. In fact UNCG is know for being one of the most culturally diverse university. One thing I've learned about being at UNCG is that being able to meet and learn about people from different backgorunds has power to broaden one's mind. Here at UNCG, the university strives to open up opportunities for students to engage in classes, activities and events that they wouldn't find anywhere else. Many of the experiences I have encountered so far at UNCG were first time experiences and helped me look at things from a new perspective. UNCG provides a wide range of academic and social opportunities to students including its Study Abroad program, which allows students to take their studies outside the US to gain life changing experiences and enhance their academic ability.

Erin

Most of the people I have met here I really enjoy being friends with. Many people are very smart and I learn a lot from my peers around me.

Crystal

The atmosphere just screams diversity and acceptance! Everyone has a real laid back and relaxed attitude. There are really no cliques that stand out. Everyone seems to have a group of friends that share similar interests. When you walk across campus you always see smiling faces. (Most of our school's population is pretty liberal)

Keylin

Extremely diverse population! That is the main reason why I chose my university. This is the most socio-economic diverse campus in N.C I believe.

Benoit

Once again, there is such diversity at our school, and I have found friends from all walks of life. I could have never done that in high school, but here you lose all inhibitions about who it is "right" to hang out with. Whoever you hang out with are the people who are "right" to hang out with.

Jesse

Very diverse student body, in all measures, there is a place for everyone at UNCG. No matter what your niche interest.

Marissa

My classmates are usually very friendly, however, most are shy at first and end up being able to speak up and feel comfortable with the people around them.

Cody

The student body is amazingly diverse and accepting. I think the big thing is that nobody really cares who you are or what you believe as long as you're a decent person. You get involved with groups of friends and meet lots of people. There are jocks and music nerds like anywhere. They all get together and play Super Smash Brothers. It's pretty awesome.

Joshua

The majority of my classmates are freshmen.

Pangdee

My classmates are friendly, open-minded, nice, respectful, responsible, thoughtful, and ambitious.

Amanda

Some are nice; some think they are better than everyone else. You just have to try to make friends so you can choose the friendly ones.

Linda

My classmates come from all around the world. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is considered one of the most diverse campuses within the state of North Carolina. In fact, over the past 14 years, UNCG has built the largest exchange program in the state. More students travel to and from UNCG than any other college or university in North Carolina. My classmates come from over 49 states and more than 70 countries. Class size is small; approximately 17 students per faculty with an average class size of 27.

David

My classmates are ethnically diverse students who are eager to learn and suceed in school.

denny

My classmates are all good people and I have loads of fun with them. However, our values are vastly different. I love to go out and enjoy my time with them but I also know when it is time to roll up my sleeves and get to work which, unfortunately, leaves me out of the fun activities on many occassions. But I can't complain because there is a certain satisfication in working hard and also having time to enjoy myself. A good GPA is also a very rewarding accolade.

Joseph

They are eager to learn and question, ready to party, willing to listen.

Elizabeth

Classmates are willing to share notes and ideas with you, very friendly and outgoing. Oftentimes you will meet friends that are classmates, and having class discussions really shows who is interested in the class and talks about it a lot.

Erin

Goal oriented and focused on the material.

Elizabeth

I have a very diverse group of classmates that are easy to get along with and fun to work with.

Cassandra

I would describe my classmates as very enthusiastic. Not every class is extremely interesting, but every student is there to learn, and has signed up for the class because they have interest in it. I suggest taking small classes so that you can get to know your classmates better and also have better discussions on important issues. Also, everyone is always willing to help. If you need a tutor, study group, or missed notes, everyone is willing to help you out because they would hope that you would return the favor if needed one day.

Brian

My classmates are outgoing, high-performers, who strive to achieve excellence.

Tatiana

My classmates are very friendly and alot of them have the same goals and beliefs as I do.
