I feel that this is the absolute best school for those that want a school close to home if you live in North Carolina. I also believe that this school has a lot to offer and many chances for me to make a difference while I’m here. Lastly if you love great food, I highly suggest you come and visit our dining hall, they make wonderful dishes.
one word, amazing! I love it, I am going for fall 2021!! At first, I was a little scared about going to UNCG or college in general being that I would be the first generation to go. One time I went to the school for a dance performance my high school had to do and let me say it WAS a lot of walking but everything was so amazing to see! I felt so safe seeing police poles everywhere I looked and knowing they have their own on-campus police department.
Overall this school is pretty good. The people are very nice and there were lots of things to do on campus pre covid. There are still many different clubs to join and lots of activities to do but most are over zoom now. As far as campus dining, I would recommend getting a meal plan that has more flex because the dining hall food gets boring after your first year. The last thing I would like to mention is don't walk to Tate st alone. More than once there has been creeps following me and my friends when we were in pairs or alone. I'd recommend having 2 or 3 other friends with you if you're planning on walking there at night. Outside of that campus is super great and on campus is really safe for students.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is an exceptional university. The teachers and staff are very attentive and friendly. The professors understand their students and work to help their student understand their work and navigate through college. On campus housing is okay, the housing and residence life staff and fix-it staff respond in a timely manner and try their best to adhere to your needs. The food in the cafe is not the greatest on the weekends but the food is decent and sometimes even good during the week. The kitchen staff tries to mix it up by throwing in themed days throughout the year which always means a good meal is coming. There are plenty of other dining options on and around campus. There are also plenty of things to do on or around campus, if one truly wants to go out and explore, UNCG is the best campus to do that on. There is something new to do or learn about everyday.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of North Carolina at Greensboro is 73%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I have learned a lot about diversity through my college experience. There are many different groups of people and they are all integrated in different organizations around school.
Some are friendly and others are partiers.
Probably the same as above (parking and registration.)
People who arent going to strive and be determined.
The most unique thing about UNCG is how accepting everyone here is to other peoples' lifestyles.
The best thing at UNCG is the suitcase campus. Greensboro is almost in the middle of North Carolina and UNCG's location is close to students homes. I remember my first year here, on weekend nearly the entire freshmen body living on campus would go home for the weekend just because home is very close. Now this is what is best and worst for UNCG. The campus looses its school pride and spirit. UNCG spirit is very low compare to similar universities. Some might say is because we do not have a football team, but that should not be the excuse for not having school spirit.
I love UNCG because its not too small or too large, it is just perfect as far as size and what is being offer. All type of student can benefit from choosing here. The business program is top in country, our nursing program is very challenging, and finally our music program can match up with any university in the United States.
diversity is key in showing how well balanced the school is.
Academics and professional schools, because you get more guidance within professional schools than just being a part of a major.
Someone who doesn't mind city life and can hold their own incase of anything. Also someone who never wants to park on campus unless they get there before 8:30 am.
I think we are known for our school of business and our soccer team.
There are a million of activities to do on campus. Campus recreation is a huge. Intermural sports is huge. I have been playing since freshmen year and the same student play for four years and you build relationships and partnership with other student that last a long time. UNCG also has a reputation of have very pretty girls. So for the guys coming to campus single, you will have girls that will have something in common.
At UNCG, professors care about your education. They truly want you to do before. Yes some basic requirement courses might have over 100 student, but professor will encourage you seek them out if you need extra help and take time for questions to explain something you do not understand. Then after you get into your major courses, you practically have a one on one relationship with the professor. In class, your professor will call you by name and ask you what can be done before in order to succeed in the course. Course work is average and as long as you stay on top of your assignment and get them done early and also see the professor before it is too late, there is no question that you will pass with flying colors. I am graduating in May 2012 and I made sure i did my work on time and ask question when i was stuck. emailing my professor was my secret, they truly respond to your email with more than you ask for.
Coming out of high school, I had no expectations of what would be required of me upon entry. I assumed it would be like high school where there would be an abundance of teachers to help if needed. My experience in college has not been that at all. I have found that the professors treat us like adults and not children. I have had to adjust to this type of enviroment but it has been a good adjustment. It would have been nice if I had some type of communication with professors prior to the year beginning.
The students are extremely diverse! From hipsters, "gangsters", jocks, "nerds", you name it! UNCG is also LGBT friendly, so there is a population of gay and lesbien students, which is awesome! I love that everyone is welcome and accepted here. Honestly, I can't say that there is one stereotype. Everybody has a place at UNCG I feel.
How friendly it is and how good the teachers are.
Too many people.
Students at UNC-Greensboro usually get a reputation for being flowery hipster kids who endlessly haunt the music/art buildings. Needless to say this stereotype is true for a good number of students here, but there's enough diversity of thought on campus that all social groups are represented in a more or less equal fashion. People resembling stoners can be found in the College Ave dorms, Psuedo-geeks can be found a bit farther up in North Spencer, a dormitory for the honors college students. Jocks are usually found on the quad near the sports building and greek organizations, and hipsters are abound in the Music and Art building.
UNCG is good for having a laid back atmosphere from semester to semester, and doesn't promote one social group above another.
Depending on the subject, the professors varies. My communications course, the professor were fantastic, they truly care about the success of the student. Communication is important in all areas of life and you learn more than expected.
My business law professor was the best professor i ever had in college. Not only did she know the subject, she practiced it before teaching, offers to help you outside of class and she was just happy teaching the subject which pumped me up to learn.
The best place is get work done is at the library, the environment promotes learning. I have spent the entire night at the library once to write my paper. I did most of my work in my room because my roommate was not too loud. The dorm on campus have study areas which are very inviting and its has tables, desks, and a flat screen TV just in case you want to take a break.
