University of North Carolina has a gorgeous campus. You can get across campus in less than 10 minutes so it is fairly small but big enough to have thousands upon thousands of students passing through every day. The students here are very focused on academics, the library is a hotspot at all hours of the day. Class sizes vary from 250 students to 15 students depending on the class so it gives students a variety of academic environments to learn from. The academics and the faculty and staff are all great, especially within the Communication department, they guide you in the right direction but definitely won't hold your hand through your work. As I'm sure all the faculty at UNCW do, they want students to hold themselves to high standards and be responsible academically, professionally and socially.

I love this school, and could not imagine myself anywhere else. I have always wanted to go here and never sent an application to another school. When you are on campus, you feel like you truly belong. If you fit in with a certain group, they will be here, but more than that everyone will accept you. There are so many activities weekly that will help you meet people and also relax from your studies. Everyone here is all about school spirit. Whether at the games or just walking around, everyone is proud to be a Seahawk! There is so many on campus dorms and just as many food options that will suite everyone's needs. There is nothing better than being here in Wilmington. The weather is absolutely amazing and walking around campus is beautiful. To top it off, less than ten minutes from the beach! There is nothing better than studying and hearing the waves crash or taking a weekend off and hanging out with a bunch of new people! You can also participate in nature activities weekly like hiking, kayaking, and paddle boarding! This is a great campus that makes you feel at home and loved!

I love attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The majority of my professors are brilliant and friendly enough to talk to. I have made amazing friends living on campus this first year. The food becomes rather boring with such limited options but other than that I do not really have any complaints. I am excited for the rest of my time here attending UNCW.

UNC Wilmington has many things to offer. If you are into sports there are endless intramural clubs, even a competitive club team for every sport. Our men's basketball team is ranked. The only thing missing is football. The campus atmosphere is always so upbeat and inviting. The academics are challenging and rewarding. Faculty and other students are always helpful - you have a million ways to succeed.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

If you are a student that loves that beach or just wants to hang out near the ocean UNCW is the place for you!! Not only does UNCW offer a variety of marine studies there is several opportunities if you would like a hands-on approach via studying abroad. If this is not, you then that is OK! UNCW has tons of different majors that may interest students, some of such majors are in nursing, business, recreational studies, communications, languages, and much more. I for one had no interest what so ever in the beach or in marine studies. While that is an interesting group of study, I knew that I wanted to work with money. As of right now I cannot say that I am disappointed in my choice. And for those students that still have no idea on what they want to major in, guess what. That is OK too!! Lots of students do not have any idea on what they want to major in whether they are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors. That is what college is about! Finding out about activities that you enjoy enough to spend most your life doing. Different people have their own set speeds in figuring this stuff out for themselves. The good thing about four year colleges is there is several people all around you that is going through the same exact situation, so you never feel left out. There is so many resources on campus you should have no trouble getting help with any of your questions.

The school is very open and beautiful. Everyone you meet is normally super nice and easy to talk to! professors are available most of the times that they say they are and if not, they will email you if they won't be available. You can always find events or opportunities to fit in and there is never a dull moment at UNCW. Personally, the one downside to this school is that there isn't a football game. I feel like I am missing out. Other than that factor, the school is amazing academically as well as the atmosphere is definitely amazing. A very amazing school.

No identity to be found with the school. People don't have school spirit. Most people identify with their clubs or Greek organization. I'm in a sorority and feel more involved with that than the school. It's a great school, but if you're looking for involvement, I'd like elsewhere.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It is a good university however it is extremely lacking in diversity i.e nicknames UNCWhite. Dining services good do better to accommodate for students with allergies and/or provide more variety for students with food allergies. most professors are great with the exception of one who has caused a slight upset with locals.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Some people, when they think about college, might think it is about partying with your friends and having the best four years of their young lives, living weekends like it is there last.. Others may think it is a place where you put your head in a book for 4 years and come out an educated, successful person. When I think of college, I think of a living learning community focused on bringing the best out of people. Whether you want to party and meet people or you want to study your butt off and shoot to make the honor roll, when you find a healthy way to mix fun and hard work in your life is when you will truly have a great time. College can be a scary transition, but you’re never alone through it, especially at UNCW. There are so many students just waiting to meet you, even if you don’t know it yet, and if you have a problem, there are more than enough faculty members to help you find a solution. Need help deciding on a career? There are people to help you with that. Need extra help in a subject? Nearly all professors have office hours, during which they would be more than happy to talk to the students they teach who are seeking assistance. With so many young people in one place, you are bound to find someone you connect with, and what better way to meet those people than to attend events on your campus. There is almost always something going on at college, and there are always new people to meet. Speaking of people to meet, there is a great amount of diversity when you get to my college. You will meet people from all walks of life, each with a different face, a different personality, and different goals. At college, you can meet young people from all over the world and learn about other cultures. My university also promotes diversity through its implementation of clubs and other activities that unite the student body, trying hard to never leave anyone out. The goal of college is to have something for everyone, which is very evident at UNCW. When I think of college, what stands out to me the most is how supportive people are of other people. In my experience, I have never had a time where someone was disrespectful of me or had a reason for treating me differently. Everyone wants everyone to succeed, and that is why we all go to college, to succeed in life and reach our goals. UNCW is helping me reach my goals by providing a wide variety of fields for me to explore, a helpful faculty and staff, and a supportive student body that makes me feel like I am a part of something bigger than myself, and that I can reach my goals while making lasting memories. By discovering a healthy mix for having fun and doing well academically, college can be an amazing life changing experience that you will cherish forever.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I absolutely love UNCW. When I first came here as an incoming freshmen I was completely lost as to how to act, dress, and talk in front of all of these upperclassmen it was freshmen year in high school all over again. Yet as I soon found out everybody on campus is extremely accommodating to answering questions so you know exactly where your going during that first hectic week of school. Once you know where your classes are college seems a little bit easier to bare especially when your all alone for the first time. I cannot speak for everyone, but from my personal opinion homesickness can sneak up on you. It is one of those things that did not bother me at first since I was so busy adjusting to my classes, but that first phone call home came with the realization that while I spent my time adjusting to campus life my family was adjusting to living without me being there. As it turns out living on campus helped drastically in this regard. Being surrounded by other incoming freshmen and knowing that they are just if not more so confused as I was a really liberating experience. Not to mention all of the different activities on campus that UNCW sponsors during the week and weekends that helps get students meeting and talking to each other. One thing that I learned since coming here is that college is all about meeting and forming lasting relationships with people, and fully exploring any interest that one may have in their life.
