The students at UND are generally hard working and smart, though some of them, especially freshmen, might lack some maturity.

Due to the demographic of the state of North Dakota, a large percentage of students are Caucasian. This does not create the most ethnically diverse community but the mentality of students is geared towards acceptance and kindness. Interactions between students are virtually always in a positive nature. Students typically wear clothing similar to that of a high-school setting, with a bias toward Sioux gear. Most students are from the Midwest, specifically in the Twin Cities area. However, the aviation and medicinal programs bring in students from all over the world.

One of the first things you'll notice when walking around campus is everyone says hello to each other and even strangers may say hello to you on occasion. I was hardly ever homesick because I made a great group of friends who I am living with today! While some may have the assumption everyone here is of a white middle to upper class family UND enrolls students of every state and dozens of countries. Also, while many are from the Minnesota/North Dakota area everyone is open to meeting new people of different backgrounds and surprisingly not quick to judge. We have a GLBT society, international society, culture nights and the students here are very open to the different groups, even though many of them do not belong to them themself.

Unless you are in the aviation department, most students are from this country and there will only be handful of international and/or foreign students. Most of the students here are obviously from the Midwest. Don't be surprised to see the campus turn to a ghost town during the Thanksgiving weekend as most will drive home.

The student body at UND is not as diverse as some other colleges, this would be because it is kind of in the middle of nowhere. It is an accepting campus and i dont think that anyone would feel out of place.

UND doesn't have as diverse a student body as some colleges, but that's to be expected for a school in the middle of the upper midwest. There is definitely more diversity here than in my hometown and 99.5{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the time, everyone is perfectly comfortable with that. From my experiences, I can say that people of all races, religions, and lifestyles are accepted here. There were a few incidents this year of discrimination against Jewish students, which made me really angry because two of my best friends are part of the Jewish Students' Organization and they're wonderful people. I don't feel like the university police department did enough to prosecute the hate crimes, but there is nothing I can do about it. Hate crimes are pretty rare, though, and I think that almost everyone is happy to have people of diverse backgrounds to hang out with. The 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Society holds events that are oftentimes open to everyone and everyone who goes has fun. There are cultural diversity nights every Thursday, which are a blast. If I had to describe the 'typical' UND student, I would say that they are from North Dakota or Minnesota, they're white or mostly white, practicing or estranged Christian, and politically moderate though maybe a hint more conservative. Even though that's the 'norm,' I don't really think that anyone feels truly out of place at UND. At least, I hope not. My best friend jestingly calls me 'hippie' for eating organic food, but we respect each other, which I think happens a lot.

Student Body is a little disconnected until it comes to Hockey?

UND although in North Dakota has a very wide range of personalities and groups. I have found that making friends and finding people who enjoy the same parts of life as you are not hard to find if you are willing to go out and shake a few new hands. The amount of clubs that offer cheap trips are staggering and the things that you can get credit for and have fun in are numerous to say the least. The students are friendly I mean come on your in one of the most friendly states in the USA (God Bless).

Good kids, a few alcoholics but mostly all are nice Mid-western folk

There are different types of students here. I am a part of the Theatre Department which and Political Science Department and in Theatre you can find students dressed up or in pajamas and in the Pols Dept. you see students in skirts and dresses as well as pajamas too... You can't even count on everybody to wear long pants when it's fifty below zero...

UND is mostly white people, simply because we're located in the upper mid-west. That doesn't mean that there are no other ethnicities here, we have many and they seem to fit in quite well. Most students are well mannered, and from small towns, thus perhaps a bit uncultured. Students generally wear anything comfortable to class, it's not necessary to dress-up to go to class. The politics on campus are a bit more left leaning, at least when compared to the rest of North Dakota, which is a rather conservative state.

Again, homogenous, white, conservative. Zero diversity. Lots and lots of alcoholism. Alcoholism is glorified and promoted here.

The student body is not extremely diverse. Most people are decently nice. Basically, everyone can talk to everyone; except randomly passing a person you don't know on the sidewalk....

UND's students are much like the population of the Midwest: white, Christian, straight, and middle-class. There is some diversity. For example, over fifty countries are represented of students who are studying abroad at UND. Even though there isn't much variety in the types of people who compose the student body, UND students are pretty open to everyone.

We are not a very diverse campus, but we welcome people of every race and ethnicity. No matter what your background is you will feel welcome at this school. Students at this school are also very politcally active which is always good to see. Students at this school are from all over due to the fact that our aviation program is the best in the nation.

A big chunk of UND's students are from the midwest, however there is a large amount of diversity that come for the aviation program here. Which by the way is excellent. Many students are from Minnesota or North Dakota and many lived in very small towns, but of course there are others as well.

UND's student body is very diverse. Everyone is really friendly for the most part. People who dont know you will smile and say hi when they pass you on the sidewalk, and everyone is just willing to reach out and make friends. Our student body has people from all over which brings a variety to our school. I love our student body.

UND is a fairly white campus but you still see other people around. Also UND is pretty good about trying to make you aware of diversity and there are plenty of clubs or events to go to, to learn more.

I like the students. I don't think there's much involvement with the students in extracurricular activities. If you want to get involved though, there's always enough to participate with. I don't mind that people don't get involved, I think it's nice just hanging out with people.

Most of UND's students are from either Minnesota or North Dakota and if they aren't usually they are here for aviation.

I think most UND students are from surrounding states as well as the aviation program pulls in alot of students from places all over the country. I would not want to come to UND, if I were Asian.
