Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

John

The individual attention that each student receives from the faculty, and the help one can recieve from upperclassmen when needed..

Korey

Very student orented and helpful.

Megan

OU's College of Engineering is the BEST ever! The staff in the CoE are amazing and they really care about their students. They have many programs set up to help the students suceed.

Sarah

The attention I receive from my teachers is incredible. It is amazing to think people so well educated in the field I want to join one day take the time to make sure I will succeed. I find it hard to believe any other public university would be able to compare in this area. The entire administration always keeps the students in mind. They listen to what we want, and try as hard as they can to give it to us.

Stacey

I didn't want to look at other schools.

Kayvan

Oh yeah, FUCK OU! Peace Niggas

Libby

I think it's pretty clear I don't like OU. Sure, I'll always bleed Crimson blood, but I definitely should have gone to OSU. It's no lie that the people there are, in fact, friendlier...and "friendly" period for that matter.

Sara

Anyone can find a place at OU. There is truly something for everyone. If I could go back, I would never trade my experiences at OU or the incredible friends I've made there!

Joshua

Get involved. Go to class. No, seriously, go to class. Enjoy yourself! Take classes you'll never have a chance to take. Live with no regrets. Don't worry about grades too much. Go out of your way to meet people. In the beginning, you have nothing to lose and they'll probably never remember you anyway so be how you want to be! There's always someone smarter, more outgoing, more attractive, and more crazy than you. Don't worry about those little comparison things.

I LOVE OU!!!!

Elizabeth

OU is great, I love it and couldnt see myself anywhere else. But this shouldnt make up your mind. Visit! You will know when a school is right for you, you will feel that you belong. If OU isn't for you, I hope find a campus that makes you feel like I did the first time I visited Norman. But the best advice I can give is to VISIT and don't be afraid to try new things. College is about exploring, do it before it's too late because it goes by fast.

Elizabeth

One thing to warn about is going home on the weekends. Many freshman go home a lot on the weekends but that does die off after a while. Also, try to become friends with your room mate before you even think about becoming enemies. :)

There is not as much to do as a city like Dallas, but Norman town can be quaint with the right friends/life style. The whole experience depends on what you are looking for. There is not a lot of variety in Norman as far as restaurants or clubs, although adequate and the drive to OKC is only around twenty five minutes. OKC has Brick Town with several clubs/restaurants/boating tour and my fav is the Oklahoma City Museum of Art which features Art Exhibits/Independent Films along with a cafe for dinner. For a fairly quick weekend get a way "Dallas" takes around two (a lot of people drive it in 2 or 21/2 at most) to three hours. Moore is ten minutes away with a brand new movie theatre which serves dinner and drinks while watching the latest flicks. Anyone coming to the University of Oklahoma will experience friendly people and a decent atmosphere for serious studying unless the temptation for constant partying ensues. The Bizzell Library is a good place to frequent for research/studying. Hope this helps...

College is a place where you make things out of nothing. It is a place to have fun or a place to be serious. It is very good to mix it up but make sure that you don't forget about your priorities but that you get yourself out there and get to know some of your possible lifelong friends.

I would tell anyone who wanted to go to OU to really think about the Department as a whole and make sure everything is really as it seems on the surface. I wouldn't recommend the Department for specific reasons. The rest of the school seems to be an awesome experience but it is all subjective to each individual.

Dianna

OU was a great experience for me. It opened my eyes to many things concerning the world today. It is active and very recognizable to most people. Today, when asked what college I graduated from.........I proudly (not to boastfully) say.....OU!

Traci

The only thing that sucks is that OU's campus went "dry" a couple years ago. But don't worry, it doesn't stop many kids from partying. :)

Bevan

I grew up here and spent lots of time on campus. But I can honestly say that I still think it's a great place to hangout and go to school. Even when you don't have to be at school students are still on campus. That tells you something about the comfort and quality of the campus.

Stacy

OU is a great school to attend. There's a little bit of everything and you'll end up calling it home.

Laura

The dry campus thing hasn't really affected me. The end of big frat parties it all that really came of the dry campus. I have had an incredible experience at OU and don't particularly want to graduate.

OU's fine for what it is. It's a decent state school, and if you want to work in Oklahoma, you could do a lot worse than an OU education. It's definitely the most respected school in the state and the alumni network will help out if you seek them out. The degree doesn't carry very well nationally, and you may have trouble if your ambitions require a prestigious undergrad. I'm headed to UCLA Law and my undergrad certainly wasn't a hindrance there, although it probably was when I was looking at PhD programs. Ultimately, if you get into a top 20 type school and don't have to go 100K into debt to go there, then you really need to go. If you don't, then OU becomes a legitimate option. I could have certainly gotten into a top ten school, and regret not doing so. I think this sums up the OU experience quite nicely: it's an OK school, and most people like going there, but it's not going to persuade the best of the best that it was a good alternative to the Ivy League and comparable schools. By contrast, elite state schools like Berkeley, UVA, and Michigan offer much of the same experience as Ivies and include the great things about the state school experience. If I had to do it over again, I would have either went to Berkeley or Wisconsin.

I was told to fill this out by the President of my fraternity, Delta Chi.

Cameron

there are a few things at OU that may have hindered my experience, but for the most part, i really liked OU. i came randomly from a different part of the country, but i found the people to be inviting. before i went to OU, i didn't know a single person in oklahoma, but some of my best friends graduated from OU with me. Robert

i support Delta Chi.

Evan

Delta Chi. It is obviously the fraternity house on campus. Nothing else needed.

It was a great education and so much fun! It wasn't about the parties, it was about the relationships and the memories.

Brandon

Students considering the University of Oklahoma should look deeper at it! Seriously, the tours are great but ask to stay with someone, sit in a class, talk to a professor, meet an international student, stay up until 2 a.m. talking with someone who should be studying. This helps you know a university better than any other way you could.

Ainsley

i would like to have more to eat and a boyfriend who hasn't been castrated. i also miss running around with my little buddy Zampa who transferred to New York. Do you think there is a place for me in theater on Broadway? Are there Delta Omicron Gammas in New York who haven't been fixed?

Randy

I miss my little buddy Zampa who moved to Manhattan and I'm thinking of transferring to NYU if I can get credit for my digging class.

Julie

OU is the best thing that ever happened to me!!

Sarah

Nope! Your questions are definitive.

Laura

I miss OU!

Valerie

Make sure you take time to explore the area around campus. Norman really has a lot to offer for dining nightlife and shopping. Even a little jaunt north to campus corner will put you within skipping distance to great restaurants such as La Luna (huge margaritas and free queso!), Victoria’s (homemade pasta/Italian), Café Plaid (great sandwiches, soups and salads), Othello’s (Italian food and the occasional open mic comedy night), Turquoise Café (to-die-for brunch) and Hideaway Pizza (try the Pizza of the Gods). Don’t miss happy hour at The Library (the bar, not the building), warm nights are best spent on the patio at The Mont, and give Opie’s a chance. I promise you’ll have fun dancing the night away to retro hits as long as you’ve had enough to drink.

Jacob

If you are considering OU you are most likely from Texas or Oklahoma. If you are from Texas, why not get a degree from UT or A&M? Both are far superior academic institutions. If you are from Oklahoma and can't get out of state, OU is definitely better than OSU and a lot cheaper than Tulsa. If you are from elsewhere (and probably National Merit) dont take the bait. OU is what it is, an average state school with an exceptional football team.
