I do the online campus option as I live in West Virginia, but I love the college as a whole. The teachers are understanding and very helpful. The academic advisors are great about checking in with the students and making sure they understand everything and are doing okay in class.
I absolutely love it! My professors are amazing. They truly make time to answer any questions that we all may have, be it in class or after time. The student body is amazing as well. We all come from different walks of life, and so many of us are accepting of that! It is truly a great place to be a student of.
I would only recommend this university for an individual who has extensive experience with online classes, because their classes are accelerated. They are only five-week courses which is beneficial for those who wish to graduate quickly, hence why I attended this school. The professors are generally fantastic, and if you ask for their help, keep in mind you may be waiting up to 48 hours for a response, which in 5-week classes with major assignments due every 6 days, waiting that long can greatly hinder.
There are 2 major reasons I highly recommend NOT ATTENDING this university. #1-There are at least 2 team projects every semester. As I've said before, the semesters are only 5 weeks long. The group projects are graded accumulatively, not per student, so if you are like me with a 4.0 GPA and get stuck with students who do not care, you are doing the team projects by yourself to keep up your GPA. Team projects have no place in distance learning in programs that are geared and sold toward hard full-time working adults with families. Absolutely ridiculous.
#2-The curriculum is shunned by other universities. So if you are looking to pursue a Master's degree elsewhere at a university that is going to ask you for sample work, be prepared to extend or completely REDO previous work because what UOPX will have you do will not suffice for admissions. The university I have currently applied for asked for a sample essay of 7-10 pages. Anything less will not be accepted. At UOPX every single essay is 1400 words or less, a PowerPoint presentation, a brochure, or a mock social media page. I had to completely redo and extend old academic essays in order to even have a chance at acceptance. Luckily because I put in the extra work I was accepted, but after acceptance, me and my new academic counselor had a good laugh over how insufficient UOPX's curriculum is.
The school is accredited thankfully, but I will never understand how. I genuinely wish I had spent 40 grand somewhere else.
It’s too expensive but provides a good educational foundation needed to enter the field and serve well.
I do my best to keep up. It’s been an eye opener. I enjoy the groups and reaction post each week. Most of the Instructors are phenomenal and have been in the field decades which is great.
