University of Phoenix-Online Campus Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Alfreda

The financial aid situation. I regret not being more involved with what was happening with my financial aid. I should have found out from them or the government how much more financial aid I was qualified to receive. I wish the financial aid officers there had warned me to save or return the extra money left over once each course was paid for. If they had I might be almost finished instead of trying to find schoalrship money so I can finish pursuing my degree.

Tailor

I love the University of Phoenix. However, the expense of this school is very high. I am only rewarded so much financial aid, and usually end up having to pay out of pocket for a portion of it. I am afraid that because of the expense of this school, I may only have the option to complete my Bachelor's and not move forward to my Master's.

Kerri

Running out of funding to pay the balance I am going to owe.

Ashley

Nothing is frustrating due to the school. It is a fast-paced program to help you complete your degree in a timely manner. I have to balance work, home, and school. I am keeping up well at this point.

Crystal

The most frusterating thing about attending this online school is that the books are online as well. If you like to write in your books and flag pages with sticky notes, you will struggle to find a new way to read the text books.

Billie

Unable to communicate face-to-face with classmates and instructors.

Heather

I really don't know what is really fustrating about the school I am attending. I haven't ran into anything yet that is fustrating. I know if I do get fustrated it's because I am trying to stay fully motivated. I stay motivated because I know that I am the first person in my family to go to college and with the trauma I have gone through the last three years this is very important for me to excel and do well. I have to graduate.

Kelsie

The most frustrating thing would have to be getting a hold of your teachers. SOME of them are difficult to get help from for certain assignments depending on when you try to reach them. I usually start my assignments (after doing the readings and such) around Wednesday, and if I need help on them, that means I am emailing my teacher (through the student website) that day or the next. Often times, they do not get the message until the day before the assignment is do--or not at all. Teachers are busy, too.

Vanessa

The most frusterating thing about school is that I can hardly evever find what I am looking for in the online Library, and most of the time when I need to use a reference the Professors would prefer that it came from the online Library.

yulonda

You have to contact your financial advisor when needed and they do not help you out as much as you want and dont really explain the process of your finances, they act like you already know these things about your finances and the schooling process.

Tashanisha

It is not the school that frustrates me but lack of classroom team committment that frustrates me.

Jayla

The most frustrating thing about my school is that I am not able to see my syllibus until the day my class has started, and I am someone who wants to be prepared ahead of time. Because of this I am not able to prepare for my class ahead of time.

Rebecca

The Learning Teams!

Derek

The most frustrating aspect to the online UoP campus has to do with the reading. There is typically a large amount of reading to do and relatively little homework. I have had more than one professor tell me not to read all the assigned reading because there is so much. Usually I find out what the learning objectives are for each week and read up on those, skipping or skimming the rest of the content. This was completely counter-productive for my Accounting degree which I later switched because I did not understand the advanced material.

Ana

The most frustrating thing aobut my school would have to be working with groups, but it is also the best thing. It could be frustrating to a lot of people for the simple reason that you have to rely on people. The assumption that everyone is taking the class serious, or their schooling serious is something that is common. I have learn to make it better for myself, because i make sure I set up my boundaries with the group.

Angela

The most frustrating thing about the University of Phoenix Online is the advisors. They are not prompt at responding to students. When one has a question, he or she could wait days or weeks for a response from his or her academic advisor. Many times, he or she may get no response at all. It may take multiple attempts at reaching his or her advisor to finally get a question answered.

anthony

I have yet to discover any frustrating things about my online classes, or with The University of Phoenix online. If anything I find this university to be very satisfactory. I find it to be much better than my previous University.

The learning team assignments are the most frustrating, having to work and coomunicate with a group of people via web is difficult.

Heather

There should have been more classes offered at the location I was at.

tracee

Sometimes the required number of wrods for writing papers can be frutrating.

Samantha

The most frustrating thing about my school and the turn around time for professors to answer your questions. I attend online school and sometimes I have questions about assignments that are due and the professor will answer my questions the day before the assignment is due. This causes me to have to ruch my assignments sometimes.

Celesse

I would say how sometimes you cannot get into some assiagments and you have to call the tech support so I would say do not do any assiagments last min because It might freeze on you or the site could be down and you will not be able to turn in your assisgments.

jennifer

Doing the math classes they were very hard for me but with the help of people around me I was able to complete them.

Samone

The most frustrating thing about my school is trying to get in touch with the Financial Aid counselors. Another frustrating aspect is working with students who drop from the course, without any notice, which puts more on other students. Students who do not pull their weight is also frustrating.

Deborah

Because it is all online I simply do not want to talk on the phone to counselors if there is no issue but they must call every so often.

Belinda

The most frustrating part of the school is waiting to talk to a professoe, my school is all online so if the professor is not online to respond right away, you have to wait until they respond for an answer

Edith

The most frustrating thing about my school is that they are 2 hours behind and we have to have our assignments turned by midnight their time. This may cause problems for some students who don't realize what time it is when they post.

Mary

The most frustrating part is the fast paced. In the bachelor program each course is five weeks long. That is not a long time, and the work load does not lessen because of this time span, you have the same amount as you would in on campus college. There is also team work, when working on line this can be difficult since your classmates are in different cities or even states.

Marie

The fact that we must participate in team assignments even though this is a purely online campus. This creates multiple problems, the major being the difficulty in communicating with your teammates. Because all of us reside in different states and time zones, finding the time to meet and collaborate is a real hassle, especially since the majority of us have joined this school because our busy and hectic schedules did not allow for us to attend a conventional brick and mortar campus.

Ashley

The most frustrating thing about my school is that we do not get physical books. Our tuition covers the electronic books, but it makes it increasingly difficult when in the online classroom to answer questions without the use of a physical book. Students either have to use the PDF's they are given or get some version of an e-reader, or order the books themselves which costs out of pocket for the student. It is very frustrating.

Dawn

Inability to access the online campus. Being a full-time mother and wife, retired military member, and disabled veteran who works full time at the Veterans Administration my time is valuable. Schools should ensure they have the resources to prevent down time for students, especially when assignments are due. Additionally, the school library is a great resource when it works, when the system fails one finds articles he/she believes will relate to research only to find there is no link to the actual document. This has required that I obtain an account with Questia so I can research.

Danielle

The classes are solely online, it is hard to understand if you are actually learning or not.

Anthony

The most frustrating thing, is that academic counselors and financial advisors are changed too frequently.

DeOndrea

The most frustrating thing about my school is the price of tuition, the education is creditable and the price to attend matches the expertise.

Marissa

The most frustrating thing about my school is that, while I do appreciate the knowledge I gained working in teams, it can be frustrating when other team members do not pull his or her weight. If the school would cut down on team assignments and presentations, there would be less frustration.

Megan

The most frustrating thing about the UoP are the learning teams. While collaborating over assignments is an excellent opportunity to learn from others and build leadership skills, it can be extremely frustrating when other team members do not complete their work with the same standards I hold myself to.

RHYANNA

The most frustrating thing about my school is the fact that I am completely responsible. The have susport systems, but I am completely responsible for when I study and enter the class room. I must meet certian requirements, and how I do that is dependent on me. It took some time to adjust to that much responsibility

ANNA

Students are required to work in learning teams. Some classes put little emphasis on these projects, but some classes have team projects that make up the majority of your grade. Not all learning team participants are equally dedicated to completing the project. I prefer to be graded on my ability, not the ability of a team of people.

Jessica

The most frustrating thing about University of Phoenix Online campus is all of the team assignments.

Stan

When working on teams and students that don't pull their weight and instead of acting like adults, the student acts like a child resulting in bringing in the teacher to mediate. And contact is all throug email at different time zones.

Kacie

The most frustrating thing about school is that it takes away from my mommy-daughter time with my sweet baby girl because I spend so much time on my homework and making sure I completely understand what is being taught.

Kathleen

Nothing, they have been wonderful so far!

Jasmaine

I honestly do not have any problems with my school. If anything is frustrating it is that since it is online the main motivation needed to succeed is self-motivation. I sometimes lack self-motivations and it sometimes shows in my work. Futhermore my instructors in the past have noticed a change in my work and give me a call to check on things to see what they can do to keep me on track.

Maria

The most frustrating thing about my school is time. I am a mother of 3 preteens and I never seem to have enough time to get anything done. Not to mention, I work a full time job also. So, lets see full time job, 3 preteens that have to go everywhere, online schooling, and sleep. Yep, that pretty much sums up my life. If only there was more time to get everything done in I would be good.

Tenora

I honestly do not have any complaints on this school yet. Everyone I have met so far are really great people.

Charla

The cost of attendence

erin

Im having trouble with the scholarship portion of my school.

Sophia

The most frustrating part is the learning teams in the Bachelor's program. The frustrating part is when you are in a learning team that is comprised of teammates that do not do their work, use poor grammar, or even plaggirze their work. Always check your teammates work both in WritePoint and the plagiarism checker. Another frustrating part is the lack of communication between teammates and the excuses they will use when they are late with their work. Always be the team leader and keep the team as a cohesive unit. have a strong team charter.

Scherie

I am only a freshman this year, but so far the most frstrating thing about my school is the amount of time it take to get feedback on my assignments, and questions that I have asked on some of my boards.

Denise

Communicating with my advisors has proven frustrating dealing with time differences and misinformation. I also find that the online math/finance classes focus more on the literature and less on actual math, so therefore I did not enjoy those classes online and opted for ground courses when available.
