To be honest, I only attended this school so that I could transfer to the Pittsburgh campus. Tuition there was much less and classes were quite easy compared to the main campus. However, the cons heavily outweighed the pros for me personally. Like the name suggests, this campus resides in Greensburg where there is not much to do as the area feels more rural than urban. The campus itself was quite small where walking from one end to the other would take at most 10 minutes. Most classes had around 10-30 students and were held in one building as well with two hallways and around six classroom which puts in perspective the size of the school. All that fantasizing about the "college life" was nonexistent here, for it felt much more like a small high school than a college. I lived on-campus and was put in the one building that had air conditioning, so I'd say that I lucked out with that one. Food was really nothing special and had the same quality as high school cafeteria food. I also remember an incident where there were ants inside of the soda fountain machine which was quite disgusting. The only shops on campus were a Subway outside the cafeteria and a Starbucks on the other side of campus. The school offered quite a few clubs, but since the campus is pretty small, not many members were in any of them. Overall, classes weren't too difficult and tuition was cheap, but I wanted to get out as soon as possible and transfer to the Pittsburgh campus which I did after a year.

I attended this college 2016-17. My first semester I had four roommates. We shared one bathroom. One girl brought home a new guy every few weeks or months. It was always a new guy. The other left a bong in our bathroom. My roommates and I had issues. They accused me of touching their stuff which I did not. They complained that "it was not their responsibility" to give me rides when I asked for a ride to the doctor. They also snapped "we don't have to be friends" {just because we were roommates}. They were all friends with each other, and I was the one left out. I did the dance team and ended up getting kicked off because they gave me under 24 hours notice for a rehearsal. I had work. They said "why are you working when we are dancing?" I tried to explain "I will be there for the performance. I just can't make the rehearsal" and they kicked me off. The classes at this school were very hard. I failed a lot my first semester and had to repeat a lot in the spring. I went to tutoring every week for hours. I did like that this school was small (under 2,000), so classes were small, and you get more attention from your professors. The only professor I really liked was my math professor. He was nice and funny to me. Dr. Barnot I cannot stand. She had me in her office several times and would tell me every little thing I did wrong. She even said and I quote "if I was your mother I would not be proud of you". So she is the reason why I do not go to Pitt-Greensburg anymore. She was rude, snappy, and uncalled for. The only transportation they have is a shuttle bus to walmart on Saturdays and I could never take it because I had work. I do not drive or own a car. There was nothing I could walk to or a bus I could take anywhere, so my family had to drive one hour to visit me, and drive me to go out to eat or to walmart, and then drive an hour back home. Our dorm did not have air, all we had were fans or open windows. In the summer it was brutally hot. The dining hall food is good. It never made me sick or had any problems with it.

My overall opinion about the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is that it is a very safe campus with police officers always on duty. The professors are easy to talk to and provide office hours and easy email access if students have questions outside of class. Classes are not necessarily a breeze. Each teacher poses challenges in their own ways. Overall the campus is beautiful, the people are nice, and the campus is safe

Kathleen

It is a beautiful campus with a lot of great teachers and a lot of great students. While there are obviously some people I am not a fan of, I feel comfortable around most of the other students and I enjoy the overall atmosphere of the campus. Most of my professors are also very knowledgeable and approachable, though some are not the best teachers in my opinion. For the most part, however, I enjoy my classes and my professors’ teaching methods.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I was given the chance to go back in time and give myself advice when I was a high shool senior I would have to tell myself to work a lot more over the summer to save up more money, to make sure I really want to be where my college is located, and to get involved in as many campus activities as possible. Ever since starting my college career I've learned that I don't want to be in this kind of campus setting and that I would be better off in the city. Overall, my biggest, most important piece of advice that I would've given myself is to know what I want and not give up on my dreams of achieving it.
