Overall the campus is lovely. Coming from a suburban area in my hometown the urban city life was quite a change. The city itself is not too big or overwhelming and the campus takes up a majority of Oakland. There are plenty of places to eat downtown whether it be chain restaurants or hole in the wall places you'll never cease to be amazed.

I personally love Pitt, not only because it is academically challenging, but because of the community. I have never fit into one particular crowd because of my various interests, but here at Pitt there are always groups for those interests. As a member of 4 different clubs and as a double major, it's easy to find others as passionate as I am.

The University of Pittsburgh is a great institution. It offers a plethora of opportunities and activities to its students and really promotes involvement. Its campus is embedded within the city so it is never dull and its facilities are beautiful. The student body at Pitt is extremely diverse. There are students from every possible background and this provides a great learning environment even outside of the classroom.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Honestly I truly love my school but the food is awful, so when picking a meal plan you're going to want way less swipes and a lot more dining dollars, and even still you're gonna wanna have money to eat at other places. Also the weather will give you some surprises some days.

Overall, I would recommend attending the University of Pittsburgh. Although we like to have fun, you will find yourself surrounded by smart peers who push you. I always feel safe on campus, and although I am a picky eater, I can always find something to eat on the meal plan. There are countless resources to be taken advantage of professors vary from each department.

Really good school overall. I like that there is a strong identity of the Pitt community, but overall not an obsession with sports like some other PA public schools. As a Business major, the business school is up-and-coming and it's really cool to be a part of this growth. Plenty of clubs available to students too. Whatever you want to get involved in you can. Additionally, smart and cognizant campus culture that are very involved with what is going on in the political realm. Socially progressive campus.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

If you live in Pittsburgh, you know that it's not called one of the most livable cities for no apparent reason. With livable wages and housing it is easy to be comfortable, but more importantly a never-ending stream of unique activities leave you constantly wishing you had more time to do them all! The University promotes real engagement in the community, volunteering with refugees, attending discounted concerts, visiting museums, enjoying Ethiopian or Peruvian food, laying in a park in the summer watching a movie on a huge screen while overlooking the skyline, taking part in festivals like "Picklesburgh"; boredom is not usually an option. Even just a stroll through campus provides you with almost giddy-like chills as you pass the magnificent Cathedral of Learning, the second tallest higher education building in the world. Opportunities for internships with companies like Google, or volunteering with cancer patients through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) means students leave campus with real-life meaningful experiences. It comes as no surprise to many that Pitt students' love for their school resonates throughout the city, and the spirit is contagious. If you don't know the song Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, all it takes is a few visits to Pitt for it to be on continuous repeat through your head. There is nothing quite the goosebumps you get from yelling "Let's Go Pitt!" at the football games with thousands of other students around you and your arms over their shoulders. On a more serious note, the professors are world renowned, and a real resource for the students. Professors have even been known to provide personal cell-phone numbers to students in the event that they had an important question. Classes are unique and inspiring, such as Russian Fairy tales, Italian food culture, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Analysis of Game of Thrones, just to name a few. However fun doesn't necessarily mean easy; students are pushed and often find great reward and growth from the challenges they face. Students hail to Pitt from all 50 states and 106 countries, and they come to Oakland for a variety of reasons; the high ranking accolades the university has received, the reliable and passionate professors, the choice of over 100 different degree programs, but also equally as important, the vibrant student life. With free outdoor concerts, almost 600 active student organizations, and huge annual days of service, there truly is a little bit of something for everyone. As with every experience, college is what you choose to make of it, but I truly believe that Pitt makes it difficult to not feel at home.

Pittsburgh is an exciting place, with a host of experiences to be had and opportunities for an individual. Pitt is a well-known research institution and students preparing for medical careers benefit immensely from it's tie to UPMC. It is one of 7 colleges/universities in the area and I have found many like-minded people, even outside my school. The biggest downside is tuition, with in-state now at a staggering 17K-- ridiculous for a state-related institution. In the end, regardless, I go here. I am proud to go here. I get what I need to be successful. No regrets.

The University of Pittsburgh is a well rounded education in an urban campus. The housing and food options are livable not lovable. Class sizes are generally quite large with an occasional class of 30. Sports are large on campus. People everywhere are striving for success.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I have visited the University of Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh many times both informally and for formal tours. With each visit, I learn something new to increase my love for it. On my last visit, I was able to visit the nearby park next to the school and it felt like I was far removed from a major city. In addition, the campus and surrounding city have so much to offer to the students. The school itself offers a top notch education and a wide range of disciplines with less than average class sizes. I like the friendliness of everyone on campus along with its diverse student body. I would recommend the university to anyone seeking a very good education from a high-quality school at a reasonable cost.
