Pitt is an amazing school and provides endless opportunities. There is always something to do and you're honestly never bored. Pittsburgh is such an unique city and filled with great food. The people I met here are the most genuine people I have met and I felt that it was really easy to meet new people! The academics are great and the professor really understand the material they are teaching. Pitt is a well rounded school and I highly recommend this school to anyone!

If you are interested in any career in the health field, Pitt is for you. Not only do they have programs ranked in the top 25 in the nation (1st in Physical Therapy, 4th in Occupational Therapy, 13th in medical schools), but there are plenty of opportunities around the city to volunteer (there are at least 3 hospitals on campus). Pre-health classes can be challenging, but most professors are very accessible and friendly. Dorms are fairly nice though some don't have A/C. The dining halls have plenty of options, but you WILL get tired of it very quickly. Luckily, there are many restaurants on Forbes Avenue. The campus is split into upper and lower. Upper campus houses a few dorms (including Honors housing) and the fraternity houses along with wonderful athletic facilities. The Honors College is not exclusive and anyone can take an honors course. About halfway between upper and lower is the Medical School/hospital which is a great place to study, especially if you live on upper campus. Lower campus is where most of the dorms and all academic buildings, including Cathy (Cathedral of Learning) are located. Campus has almost anything you can ever want and if you can't find what you're looking for, it is likely a short bus ride away (students ride free on public transportation). There are hundreds of clubs that cover every topic under the sun and a great activity fair at the beginning of each semester. Greek life isn't a big thing on campus. The sororities don't have houses and fraternity parties are closed. Freshman can rush during their second semester. Like most schools, partying happens on the weekends, but there are plenty of other things to do if you are not interested (just avoid South O). My top suggestions would be: apply for honors housing, take the opportunity to explore Pittsburgh when you have the time, buy football season tickets ($25 for students), buy your textbooks from the facebook page (it's much cheaper than the bookstore), and enjoy your time as a panther. HAIL TO PITT!

The University of Pittsburgh was actually my second choice - I originally wanted to attend the University of Wisconsin, but the diving coach there told me there was not a spot for me on the team. Long story short, that rejection was one of the best things that happened to me. Once I arrived on campus, I kept finding more and more reasons why Pitt was the school for me. Academically, Pitt is phenomenal. There are so many majors, minors, and certificates to choose from, and new classes are constantly being developed. The biology research labs (had I known about them prior to committing) would have been a huge seller for me, as they allow undergraduates to get experience in research while fulfilling lab requirements. My only complaint about Pitt's academics is that there is no psychology minor; however, this may become an option in the not to distant future. There are also so many opportunities to study abroad, and so many scholarships available for studying abroad. One such scholarship is completion of the OCC (Outside the Classroom Curriculum). The OCC has ten focus areas, such as wellness and global awareness, that you earn points in by performing tasks and going to campus events. After completing the OCC, you can earn a $1,500 scholarship for study abroad, reimbursement for a non-paid internship, or a research grant. Aside from academics, there are tons of student groups and club that you can get involved in. From a capella groups to activist clubs to the powerlifting team, it's hard to find a student that isn't involved in at least one club. The Greek life here isn't too crazy like it is in the South, but it definitely exists. Personally, I am not involved in a sorority or co-ed fraternity, but I am friends with people that are and they love it (and they don't judge me for not being involved). Some other reasons why attending Pitt is a fantastic experience that don't necessarily have to do with the school itself: 1. $4 t-shirts, $10 long sleeve t-shirts, and $15 hoodies. I mean, seriously, what other school has that? 2. Free access to all Port Authority buses, which can take you basically anywhere. Which leads me to my next point... 3. Pittsburgh isn't exactly a city, it's more like a bunch of cute neighborhoods that conglomerated together. Sure, there's downtown, which, compared to New York City, is newer, cleaner, and less crowded/touristy. But there's also Shadyside, Lawrenceville, South Side, The Strip, The North Shore, and Squirrel Hill. 4. It's not totally urban - while you do have all of the shopping/food areas listed above, there's also Schenley Park which is GORGEOUS. And, of course, all of the rivers and mountains not too far from campus. 5. ALL OF THE PITTSBURGH FOOD. 6. Football games at Heinz Field, where the Steelers play. Incredible. 7. Do you really need any more convincing?

University of Pittsburgh is the epitome of what an urban campus should be. The research is especially renowned here, so there are many, many internship and research opportunities. The campus is large and expansive - and, being a state-related PA college, there are a myriad of academic and career resources for every single type of student. The facilities are standard, well-kept, and full of personnel to ensure comfortable living. Outside of the campus, there are many opportunities for STEM students at UPMC and others, so many commercial areas to have fun, and expansive off-campus housing.

I absolutely love it here, the football and basketball games are huge events on campus where a majority of campus is involved. There are plenty of clubs and activities to get involved in on campus- almost everyone on campus is involved in something! There is plenty to do on the weekends since we are directly located in the city!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The University of Pittsburgh attracted me because the campus is part of a major city but is set in the scenic neighborhood of Oakland. It provides city life without sacrificing greenery and open space. Most of my professors, even outside of my major, were really passionate about the material and provided an excellent stand of education.

I love the urban campus. There is always somewhere new to explore! There are plenty of different food options around campus. The classrooms are decent. We have a diverse school with plenty of exchange students. Pitt is one of the highest ranked public colleges for academics in the U.S. and Pitt graduates reflect that. I hail to Pitt!

From the viewpoint of someone in the school of engineering, I really feel like the university is working against me a lot of the time. I know that some people say that changes after freshman year, but I'm half way through sophomore year and I feel like last semester was my worst yet. The people are great -- open minded, cultural, and know how to have fun (not ALWAYS studying). The urban campus is manageable with Schenley Park being so close.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Overall the campus is lovely. Coming from a suburban area in my hometown the urban city life was quite a change. The city itself is not too big or overwhelming and the campus takes up a majority of Oakland. There are plenty of places to eat downtown whether it be chain restaurants or hole in the wall places you'll never cease to be amazed.
