One of my favorites is Mistletoast, an event planned right before the holiday break in December with free holiday treats, horse-drawn carriage rides, musical performances including our popular acapella groups, and even pictures with Santa. Another tradition I couldn't go without mentioning is the streakers who run through the library during finals week - a much-needed, hilarious distraction for those cramming in some last-minute studying. Sometimes green man even makes an appearance.
LogJam is one of my favorite traditions on campus. It is a gathering of all the clubs and organizations on campus during the beginning of every school year. It is an opportunity for people to see all the different options they can be apart of. It is especially helpful for freshman and other new students to find a niche and other people with similar interests. Another one of my favorite traditions is formal recruitment for Greek life. It is another way for people to get involved and find a way to find lifelong friendships and a way to volunteer.
I believe the University of Puget Sound is best known for its small, friendly, well established campus. The students, as well as faculty and staff, are all very welcoming and helpful. The student to teacher ratio is very low (something around 1:14) so each student gets a lot of one on one time with their teacher if that is what is desired. Student advisors are very helpful for transitioning students and make them feel very comfortable so that the move is easier and less stressful.
