University of Puget Sound Top Questions

Several of our sports teams have larger followings than others, such as men and women's soccer and basketball, as well as women's volleyball. We don't have athletic scholarships at Puget Sound, but many athletes are on merit-based scholarships which range from 7,000-19,000. School spirit has greatly increased in the past year because of Logger Nation, a new club formed with a large membership that goes and cheers on different sports teams. Many students also participate in club sports, a more laid-back way to stay involved with your sport of choice in college.

Varsity sports are NCAA Division III Northwest Conference. This means that we do not offer athletic scholarships; however I really enjoy what this brings to athletics. Every athlete is playing their sport because they love it! No one is feeling pressured to play because it is paying for their education or other motives. Everyone wants to be playing and the enthusiasm and passion translate. It is so fun and entertaining to watch people be so into and care so much about what they are doing. And the sports are incredibly successful; no one can argue that winning is fun! Other sports opportunities include club sports, intramural sports, and pick up games. Club and intramural sports are really popular and everyone really enjoys how fun and competitive they are. Pick up games happen very often and in almost every sport.
